Star Wars Battlefront II (Nov 17th, 2017, PC/XB1/PS4) trailer, info, more

I was all set to preorder this on PS4 since I have a Pro, but then I realized this will likely be Scorpio enhanced and now I'm not sure which platform to preorder on. Anyone else going through a similar dilemma?

Yep, likely gonna be one of the first games i buy on scorpio. Id rather have abit closer to native 4k with enhanced effects rather than 1440 or 1800p checkerboard. But well see maybe in practice the games on scorpio and pro are pretty close in parity

Vehicles should just be available at spawn. Sure it'll be a mad dash towards them when they're up but at least everyone will have a chance to use one at a better pace than before.

Vehicles, heroes and "something else" will be "resource based". That's all we know for now.

I'm betting the "something else" is the Epic Abilities mentioned on the Origin page (each class / vehicle / Hero has a unique ability - Heavy class has the Personal Shield, Kylo Ren can freeze/pull enemies, Rey has mind tricks, the Millennium Falcon has something too).

Would it even run on switch withouth the console exploding?

Vehicles at the spawn, etc + a pilot class would really help that issue.

+Only ones with vehicle skills/perks and can spawn into vehicles
-can only use a very weak blaster pistol, no detonators, etc

EA are probably better off making a Star Wars VR game, a'la Star Wars Kinect.

(uh, this should be below the post underneath me)

Fool me once. PC servers being dead in 2 weeks for the last one makes me weary. I'll wait for this one, but damn, I wanna love it.

The GameCube didn't get the original Battlefronts either.

It had its own exclusive Star Wars games to replace the Battlefront games, and it also got most of the other multi platform Star Wars games as well.

2015's core gunplay was a natural evolution of the original series.

Not really, TTK alone is a massive difference, not to mention how nothing was automatic. But even if it was, that ignores literally everything else.

Honestly trailer is so good, but it's DICE. We know DICE and SP stories don't mix well.

Hopefully about them separating the MP shit up into proper classes. One of my biggest complaints about B1 is that everything felt same-ish outside of a few specific weapons. And balance took a long time to become decent. Hopefully they won't make the same mistakes this time.

Shall see how Motive Studios does, since this looks to be their first thing coming out.

Also I see Criterion Games is working on this game too.

I'm sure it has a standard to meet considering they're working with Disney and the story will be canon. So we definitely aren't going to get something terrible like Battlefield 4.

I wonder if it would be worth them targeting 30fps for the campaign.

Considering how good Battlefront looks at 60 I imagine 30fps could result in mind-blowing visuals, especially when it comes to character fidelity.

That could happen

Medal of Honor 2010 was a split dev situation as well, and Danger Close targeted 30 FPS for the campaign.

Saying it's canon has no bearing on quality. They basically say everything new they put out is canon, and it's certainly not all been good. They even have mobile games out that they say are canon. It's a meaningless distinction to trick people into thinking things are more important than they are.

In 2017 that answer isn't interesting. Maybe back when Nintendo's troubled relationship with 3rd parties was some novel discussion to be had, maybe. But today, we know how many ways there are to say "no".

There's a lot of ways to say No, yes. But that answer is not even on the "No" side of the spectrum. It's "we'll talk about that another day". I'm not saying the game will come to Switch, but if it wasn't something they were even looking into or in discussions about they could give all kinds of answers like "platform isn't a right fit", "didn't get the dev kit in time", or just a straight up "It's not happening". Instead they're giving an implication otherwise.

It's pretty much a no. Maybe it'll get a late port, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I just think developers are still unsure about the Switch, they see its selling well and it's a modern platform, so they are generally being more open minded and thoughtful about their responses this go around.
