Helmetless stormtroopers are gone? People actually had major issues with this to the point that there were enough complaints that it led to them taking this out? I played as a helmetless stormtrooper. Gave the character a little personality. In first person mode it doesn't matter, but in 3rd person mode I liked that I didn't have to be a totally faceless stormtrooper.

I can't wait, I think its going to be great...I am a little sad that we haven't got these multi-crew transport ships like in the original Battlefront games:

Flying across the battle below with your character holding onto the bar above in third person just looked cool. Those ships plus the battle on Geonosis would be great.

I'd be shocked if Geonosis wasn't a map at some point.

To me the biggest glaring omission is there is no Anakin and Obi-Wan as heroes with Mustafar as a map.

Hopefully they come after Finn and Phasma

Where's walker assault?

Galactic Assault may 'include' this. Apparently the objectives are different depending on map/setting for this mode. Anyone know, did they go into detail on this yet with planet by planet breakdowns yet? I'm guessing not?

Somewhere there is a vague description of what each is, but I can't find the post!

Right, I saw that there's sort of a different mechanic/theme per map but if there's modes like blast I was wondering why there couldn't be a walker assault "mode" thrown back in as well.

Hoping there's some form of walker assault included.

As far as I know Hoth is still Walker Assault as we know it. Endor is apparently reversed. Rebels steal a walker and have to escort it to destroy an Imperial facility.

I feel they will be coming in an update. You can't omit those two. Especially now that they've gone back to the Prequel Era

From the leaks they apparently have Kenobi and Grievous as a Hero Pair (think Luke to Vader, Finn to Phasma, Han to Boba, etc) but they are having issues getting Grievous finished due to him not fitting the standard body plan. It apparently took them months and months to get Yoda working and finished because of that. When Grievous is done they'll release him and Kenobi. I'm assuming that if they for whatever reason they can't get Grievous to work at all, they'll still release Kenobi.

Then I'd assume Anakin and Dooku after that.

This would definitely explain why the game seems to be shipping with only two prequel era heroes (only one if you don't count Yoda).

It's a bit weird though.

Like why have Yoda and Maul as the pair? Did they fight in TCW? Seems like Yoda and Dooku or Yoda and Sidious would be a better pair. You'd think Obi-Wan would be paired with Maul.

Also they have Leia paired with the Emperor and Lando with Iden. I assume the latter because we know that Bespin is a location in the story.

Nope Maul was still obsessed with Obi-Wan in TCW so it is strange. I guess they really just wanted Yoda first? Ventress and Ahsoka should be a pair too.

Will the feel of the gameplay be the same as Battlefront 1? I found the gameplay/gunplay to be but more mindless and frantic than typical satisfying shooters such as CoD, standard Battlefield etc. where you can survive for more than a minute at a time if you are pretty decent and employ some strategy and skill

Should we expect the same shallowness to the feel of gameplay and expect to just run n gun, die, quickly respawn, rinse, repeat?

from the videos, it seems to play differently. I personally hated Battlefront1. The card, hero and vehicles systems were stupid as fuck which to me, was the biggest problems with the game

SG-17 is here, so I'm sure he'll thoroughly tell you why you're wrong about these things shortly (and I would agree with him). But it was reported a while back that there were some aspects that they they tweaked to move the gameplay mechanics more towards Battlefield, and away from BF2015. So that'll probably make you happy.

Yes, you are wrong. Battlefront had a unique skill curve where it was mostly flat until it shot straight up at the end. It was easy to learn and play but very hard to master. Skilled players would last entire matches without dying or dying only in single digits. The gunplay was actually very similar to the originals with a focus on hipfire and mobility, with a lack of recoil and penalties for shooting while moving. It was old school gameplay that has been beaten out of players by COD and modern Battlefield.

The new game is unfortunately moving towards a more modern style of gameplay.

I'm sure I'll still like the game regardless. Just hope they didn't go too far in that direction. One of the best things about BF2015 was that the combat felt like a throwback (in a good way).. the emphasis on movement and hipfire.

Maybe it's just been so long since playing games like Jedi Knight etc. TBH, I never actually got into the original Battlefront games and didn't like their style gameplay from an MP standpoint (yeah, I know --- crazy, right?). I definitely lean more towards the modern CoD style, but haven't played CoD since about 2012, so not sure what that means at this point.

Either way, all their revamps of progression and overall gameplay formats make it seem like we will be getting something satisfyingly fresh, probably to everyone who is a FPS and Star Wars fan.

This is the best news I've heard regarding this game

The guns in BF15 felt so fucking terrible to use

Will they sell me JUST the campaign without the multi-player at a discount?

Like, you can buy the game for $30 and for that price you unlock either single or multiplayer, and then you can add the other one for additional $30 if you desire both.

I hate DICE so much. They always manage to take my hard earned money and leave me with nothing and wanting more. This isn't fair.

No. There are only two games I've ever heard of doing this. Star Citizen (which will be out some time before you're dead and right now is make believe) and the upcoming Doom port for Switch (due to space constraints on carts).

Can anyone nail down where this information came from and validate that it has actually happened and carried through to the final product (or beta)?

Can't seem to find this information out there. The videos we've seen *do* look a little different gameplay-feel-wise, but I can't put my finger on how....

I didn't think the guns felt terrible to use, but I felt like the gunplay itself lacked depth an didn't feel very satisfying at all.

This --- and there were some serious imbalances with certain guns that were unlocked at higher levels. Maybe those were fixed with patches? I wouldn't know b/c I was bored enough by the gameplay within a few months that I haven't played it since Spring 2016 (except for the VR mission, which was fantastic)

Open beta next week, just download it and see if you like it.

All of the big team stuff has been condensed into one playlist which seems to have a different objective (or series of objectives) per map.

Galactic Assault may 'include' this. Apparently the objectives are different depending on map/setting for this mode. Anyone know, did they go into detail on this yet with planet by planet breakdowns yet? I'm guessing not?
So another new multiplayer game where I can't chose the mode I want to play? What's up with that shit in recent games?!

Blast is TDM. Strike is an 8v8 objective mode. We don't know what the objective is, but rumors are it changes with each map.

...no? It's just the objectives in Galactic Assault are tailored to each map to make a narrative.

I get home from NYC on January 4th and will then have two months off to catch up on games. Between Uncharted: Lost Legacy and the BF1 DLC I missed, I am very much looking forward to this. I hope they manage to make the microtransactions not suck ass and I might even spent some money on them, just feels better than being forced to shell out 50 bucks for Premium like in the past.
