Star Wars Battlefront II (Nov 17th, 2017, PC/XB1/PS4) trailer, info, more

Just hope it still performs well on the OG PS4.

This, CoD WWII and Destiny 2 and I can only pick two games, fund wise. It's going to be hard.

Shame no PC coop but it's not like I'd use it anyway if I'm honest. Hope SP is good though. MP Star Wars isn't enough of a hook for me. I want plot and involvement in that world too.

I'd actually love to see some good hero modes. A mode where you can pick a hero first and then get matched with others in a Hero vs Villain fight. I love some regular foot soldier action but there must be a good variety of exciting modes to choose from.

Meh. I personally can't get too excited since it seems its just like Battlefront one. Just dogfights in space. Not the cool stuff we want like piloting into a ship, going on foot, hopping back into your fighter after making damage, and back out to space. Seems its just the same boring dogfight mode from the last game just with space background. Really disappointed. Those maps/modes wheere it was a hybrid of infantry skirmish and space dogfights were the best

Kinda the same here, the game looks amazing, and it's good they are actually doing more space stuff as it's such a key ingredient to Star Wars. At the same time space battles looks like it is just fighter squadron again but where it should have been in the first place.

If we don't actually get any sort of ship to ship battle I have to ask why? They've got all the pieces to make the mode, I would have thought having just two sets of interior maps for two ships and a whole lot of nothing around them for space wouldn't be more difficult than having to create a whole massive map for say walker assault and a bunch of other modes.

I want an actual space battle conquest mode like we had in the original Battlefront 2, and I don't really get what seems to be so difficult about making one.

So let me get this straight, you play as:

1) A Stormtrooper
2) A FEMALE
3) With a FACE!

THE

BEST

TIMELINE!!!

Now let's go murder some rebel scum :)))))

It's such a waste to have such amazing graphics and then completely break the immersion with stupid shit like kill streak vehicles. Just do like Battlefield for Christ's sake. Vehicles are there at the start and get air dropped back in every few minutes. Class based loadouts and nabbing peoples' kits.

Still, I'm almost definitely in just for clones. Hopefully they actually give a shit about space combat this time. If it's just a reskinned version of what was in 1 then it's just as shitty.

Wait, no split-screen in the PC version? What in the fresh hell is that?!

So now I have to choose between free multiplayer on PC, or split-screen on consoles. Guess I could just bank on them patching it in eventually.

I hope Skirmish/Instant Action or whatever it is now will be included again and not removed just because they have a campaign in this one. Though knowing EA it'll probably be a one or the other sorta deal. Sigh.

Sure, so that half the team is swarming the respawn point hoping to get that AT-AT and when it does finally arrive and the spoiled brat doesn't get in then he places explosives on it to destroy it just to spite everyone. Great system indeed. You have honestly not played much of Battlefield if you didn't experience it because that has been there since day 1.

Battlefront 1 did it good and this new system sounds even better. (s) Also, I'm sure vehicles materialising out of thin air is definitely not immersion breaking (/s) .

The first games was bare but lots of fun when the mechanics kicked-in. Also one of the most genuinely good looking games ever made...real sense of Star Wars in your living room.

Not yet able to pre-order, but will be. So glad no Season Pass in this one too, since I missed out on the free maps for Battlefront last year : (

Yeah...this looks incredible.

I haven't played any recent battlefields but I played the shit out of Bad Company 2. Don't allow teammates to damage team vehicles. Boom.

Also I did say air drop, not materialize. And even then, shit materializing at base camp and making its way to the front is a hell of a lot better than glowing coins popping up randomly and then people turning into vehicles

Nah, the current system is trash and killstreaks are only a little better.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I hope vehicles are now present on the battlefield just to jump in instead of icons

Disabling vehicle damage only solves half the issue. You still have tons of people swarming the vehicle spawns spamming "entry" button. If you played Bad Company 2 you must have seen the rushes for UAVs and people camping helicopter/tank spawns. It didn't happen every game (UAV rush did though) but it is a problem that this new system solves. It also gives you the option to choose. In Battlefield you would have to take whatever is available, even though you didn't really need it all that much. Here you can just save up and buy the exact thing you want. A great system.

People didn't turn into vehicles, they appeared at the edge of the map (planes way beyond the map) and then made their way onto the frontlines. In all my hours of Battlefront I haven't noticed even once a vehicle popping up from thin air. One reason being that I am usually facing the enemy's side and second because they do spawn pretty far back.

The tokens on the ground, I agree, were a bit weird at first but I quickly got used to them and haven't bothered me at all after the first few minutes. At the end of the day it is a game, not a realistic simulator, and some compromise is to be expected.

With Kylo and Rey having alternate costumes I think it's safe to say that everyone will have an alternate costume. If so, EA pls.

If the campaign is longer than 8 hours and of good quality, I'll buy at launch. C'mon, Battlefield Hardline and even some CoD titles managed that. I am really rooting for this one to deliver.

If they don't fix this, I'll only consider getting the game at a bargain bin price (by which time I expect MP to be dead). No excuse for shortchanging the PC version like that.

Loved Battlefront, love Star Wars, will be there day - 3 for the super duper deluxe snazzy edition

Can't wait to see what this looks like on Scorpio!

Do we know that there are actually battles from all of the eras with clones, droids, etc.? It says heroes from all eras but to me that just implies a seperate heroes vs villains mode with everyone thrown in like in the original Battlefront 2.

Yes, it also says "fights in authentic locations across all eras. " on the website.

We also saw concept art for Kamino in the panel.

I knew I was going to love this game, but I never expected that it could possibly be a contender for GOTY.

I'd have to see some of the actual gameplay before making calls like that, tbh. I'm more excited for this than Last Jedi, but I feel like they need to fix elements of the gameflow from the first game to get it to be GOTY potential.

I wonder how they'll incorporate locations used in BFI into the game. Will they include them as is from the first game or rework them to fit better with BFII's gameplay systems? I'm hoping its the latter.

Looking forward to every tidbit of info on the road to November, but most interested in PS4 vs Pro vs Scorpio performance.

A large enough gap could sway me to buy a pro for this, and even larger gap could justify a Scorpio purchase.

Was there any doubt? The first one is amazing and also a GOTY class game, why would the second one be any different.

IMO. Presentation, visuals, sound design and gameplay were great.

The games biggest hurdle was the content though, and that's a very fair and valid criticism.

This game seems to be fixing A LOT of what people had issues with in the first game and that only a good thing. Don't know if it'll get any GOTY awards, but if they nail the gameplay side of this then it's definitely going to be in the consumer eye for a long time.

It having a single player campaign is good. But will it actually be good?

Battlefront did its accessible "look, it's Star Wars, pew pew" thing well. But to me it was worthless as it basically played like a thoroughly simplified Battlefield. So I just continued playing that instead. The lack of content was a problem, perhaps the main one, but it was not the only one.
Eurogamer published a thing which convinced me that it's at least possible that Battlefront II's multiplayer could end up worthwhile. But I find I have a disturbing lack of faith.

This being built on the groundwork of the first, time pressure ought to be less, but there is still an immovable deadline as this has to be out before the movie.

I'll wait for reviews before pledging money to this.

So no vehicles to climb in. More like a killstreak-esque system. I'm fine with this for heroes I guess, but I really wish they'd finally have given us classic Battlefield.

I like the currency system they are suggesting. Rewards playing the objective and you choose whatever fits the situation your team is in and what you feel comfortable with.

its better then camping vehicle or token spawns would rather spend points to spawn in a vehicle although you would still most likely end up camping the red pawn screen waiting for someone with the vehicle you want to die so you can spawn one hmmm

I'm playing the 4-hour trial of Battlefront 1 right now and it seems like a whole lot of fun. Unfortunately I only started out with a gun but quickly unlocked a machinegun. So everything is locked and I have to earn coins and rank up to unlock and buy those and star cards.

I'm just curious, what was the problem with this game? Is it that the star cards unbalances the whole thing?

There isn't really a massive problem with it. It ended up being criticised a great deal from various factions who wanted it to be either a lot more like Battlefield, some who wanted it to be a lot less like Battlefield, and plenty that wanted it to be more like the original Battlefront. Ignoring those angles, I think the game was probably a bit too simple for its own good. It felt like they had tried to make a casual Battlefield and, while in places this was for the better, in some areas it was certainly for the worse. The flight mechanics are particularly poor. The lack of content was another big issue, but they improved that area quite quickly, though, naturally the community became more fragmented as time went on with the ridiculous number of game modes. It is definitely hard to stomach the amount of content in Battlefront when you compare it, for example, with the original Battlefront II.

So is this going to be the battlefield and Star Wars mashup that I wished the first one was? Basically a Battlefield game using Star Wars?
