Days Gone 2 Petition - Will Sony Listen?

It's a 60 hour open world game that you can keep messing around in endlessly. It's also FILLED with tonnes of unoriginal cookie cutter gameplay elements. Why do people want a sequel to this straight away?

Let Bend work on a new IP, improve their game development skills, and then that way if they do end up making a Days Gone 2 it'll be significantly better.
Personally i want to see how the plot goes forward after the intriguing secret finale.

Without its writer, I wouldn't care.
Lol, that'd be the only thing to get me interested in a sequel. The story was AWFUL in DG. I really enjoyed the gameplay and it had a somewhat interesting open world. I've said it a few times before in many different threads, but the game at 60fps and good controls would have brought in a lot of people in my opinion as it's story is so forgettable and lazy. Whoever said it was the best open world game of last gen must have only played DG exclusively as there were much MUCH better OWG than DG. DG just had that awesome horde mechanic that was super fun to plan around and again, it had some relatively cool environments(if not a bit boring).

The fact that Sony is putting Days Gone on PC, sounds like what Jason was saying was very exaggerated. I just don't see Sony putting more money, in a IP they are not expanding. Its like how we all knew Horizon Zero Dawn was getting a sequel when it hit PC and months later we got a announcement of a sequel.

Think it has more to do with the fact that with minimal effort and the fact that the game was already x86 based to begin with on PS4 that they could probably easily have a successful secondary revenue stream while not actually having to do a lot of work more than anything else. We got Detroit: Become Human on PC as well and there's not been any talk of another game in the series or spiritual successor that I've heard.

That's fine mate.
I loved a lot of characters and I still remember their names and some of their favourite sentences. Can't say the same with many other open worlds.
I think that DG does a really good job in portraying nice characters and making you understand them. I started hating Boozer for example and ended loving him. I can't believe that there are games that I played for a lot more time than DG and I struggle in remembering characters.

This is not a Snyder Cut, guys. The original is deservingly lying at 71 Meta score and even with all the improvements a 60-hour biker zombie drama is too derivative and repetitive to warrant a sequel. Just like with the original -what's the hook? What does this game do that no other open-world does? Bend spent a lot of time on it and apart from hordes there's nothing new in this or exciting.

The number of signatures is not that big either. Like Sunset Overdrive this may have some niche following and an uptick because of PC release, but I don't see it as a part 2 contender unless PC version smashes all charts for some reason.

Yes. Those Ubisoft are trash games, almost shovelwear tier imo. Days Gone trying to emulate them is one of its main issues.
The point is, despite the cookie cutter design of open worlds, it sells and despite being so called trashy people do want the sequels because it scratches their certain itch in gaming.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of open world games but I do admit Days Gone does one thing well and it’s unique to the game. Specifically talking about hordes. This is what differentiates Days Gone from other games and what makes it stand out from a sea of open worlds. If someone could do hordes better then by all means shelve the Days Gone sequel otherwise I think this feature deserves a second chance.

They're more likely to listen to people buying the game (especially with the PC version coming) than a petition.

Wouldn't it be funny if Sony backtracked on the sequel based on a strong PC performance? The reaction from the anti-PS to PC port crowd would be interesting.

Do people actually like this game or is it just another fuck you to The Last of Us: Part 2. I much rather get a sequel to The Order 1886.

I played days gone on PS5 at 60 FPS and I was really hooked on it. Yes it has some rough parts to it and some of the story isn’t quite fleshed out but the overall experience was enjoyable.

I think that before any petition or Bloomberg drama Sony already decided they were going to make DG2, but not just after DG1 for various reasons:
-They have TLOU2 PS5+TLOUR, Factions 2 and TLOU tv series coming, so better avoid zombies for a while
-They already have many sequels on the works in other Sony studios, so would be nice to get a new IP
-Days Gone is profitable and sold more than all previous Bend games combined, and after the fixes, PS5 patch, PC port, PS Plus and collection it may end having awesome sales, so may want to see if it's the case
-Reviews were meh/bad, but after the patches, extra content and fixes the reviews of the PC version can be great, so may want to see if it's the case
-Maybe they couldn't start working on DG2 now because needed Bend to help ND with a couple of projects first
-Maybe they couldn't start working on DG2 because they want to make it with UE5 so need to want until at least later this year to properly start full production so prefer to do other stuff until then

I'm sorry to have to bump this old thread but I want to voice my opinion on this game.

Sony ABSOLYUTELY has to develop a sequel to this because there's so much to build on here. Bend have laid a really great foundation for this world. I'm only now playing this game and I'm fucking hooked. Everything about this world and how its laid out has so much promise. I love the controls, the gameplay mechanics, the dread of going out and doing missions at night with hordes all over the place. It's just absolutely amazing.

There's so much the developer can expand on with this game. Base building or setting up temporary camps at different spots on the map. They can have you hunt wildlife to sustain these temporary camps of settlers. Similar to how its done in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The bike. OMG the bike. I've found i'm more attached to it than anything else in the game. Always parking it close but not too close to enemy camps or hordes of freakers. I love the gas mechanic. At first I found it annoying but its so rewarding especially when you're low on fuel and have to scurry around for gas. It's tense and adds to the sense of fear in this world. No bike means trouble especially if you're out in some remote part of the map.

Would be cool to be able to create or craft traps for hordes of freakers. Picking up or rolling around red barrels would be a nice addition as well as setting explosive tripwire traps.

Weapons is great though I wish there were more variety to them but overall I don't see any issues with shooting mechanics.

Overall I'm loving the game and see now why some people are wanting a sequel. It's an amazing game and I would put it up there as one of my favourites next to Last Of Us 2.

Please no.
World Wide studios is already making enough sequels. God of War Ragnarok, Spiderman 2, Horizon 2, Ghost of Tsushima 2. Bend can make something new.

I recently played Days Gone for the first time on the PS5 and it really doesnt need a sequel or can’t say it deserves it. For me it wasn’t anything special at all.
Well it might get better but the first few hours were average, the characters and story were interesting but the fighting mechanics weren’t great.
Ill try more later

I have no clue why anyone thinks the game won't have a sequel.

Because of hearsay?

The game will have a sequel, just not anytime soon which is a good thing.

The game didnt warrant an immediate sequel, and they definitely need the time to prepare and develop the next iteration more carefully.

So I could give a fuck if the sequel comes out in 3 - 4 years.

Just do better than the average game the first one is so Sony boys can stop crying about it when people say the first one is average 🙄

Though they could improve on it in every way with a sequel..they should just leave the zombie AAA to Naughty Dog.
TLOU ain't going anywhere and nothings gonna come close for awhile. Just bring SOCOM back or something.

Every open world game has elements copied from others. You're not going to find original gameplay elements in this day and age, especially with game development costs increasing with each new generation making it increasingly difficult to take risks with new ideas.
Developers would want to play it safe so they borrow ideas that they know work or are popular with gamers. That's at least how I look at it.

Nah, TLOU should end with the 2nd. IMO.
Don’t think I’ll be going back for the third unless they make some big changes to the story.

Hell yeah brother, welcome aboard to the DG appreciation club. One of the best games of last gen. I need a sequel so bad after the cliffhanger ending. Come on Sony

When Days Gone first released, it was a complete shitshow. Bugs, glitches, etc. It was damn near unplayable. Game has been patched to hell and back though, and is actually a diamond in the rough. Doesn’t help that the first 5 hours of the game is also a complete slog. Many people here really haven’t played the game in it’s true form but it constantly gets shit on. Game is actually really fucking good once it opens up to the player. It’s just a shame that it just takes so fucking long to get going.

Days Gone absolutely deserves a sequel.

The secret finale DESERVE a sequel, it was the best piece of story in the entire game and what elevates the entire zombie plot imo.

Fucking lol, you never played a near unplayable game in your life if that is your standard dude.

They should make a Hordes standalone, those were something new and fun. The game itself + story were mediocre at best.

How does one unlock the secret ending?
You do a couple of quest after the ending.

I don't remeber if you have to free all the enemy outposts but probably not.

I mean, it's simpler if you just watch it on yt in 4k, but if you are not invested with the main plot and the characters, it hit differently.

Game was in such a sad state when it originally released. Geometry loading in while the player is driving; instantly killing them. Entire sections of the map not loading in properly; resulting in the player being unable to progress. Yes…this was damn near unplayable. Upon encountering these types of bugs, no one wants to stick around to play this shit. This game was meme’d to hell because of how broken it was back then.

A game that I enjoyed the more I played, I'd love a sequel with more fleshed out horde combat
A game that takes 10+ hours to “get good” is a failure in design. Any game should be engaging with strong systems/ story/ whatever its focus right from the start, or they’re doing it wrong.
