UFC 214 |OT| Jones vs Cormier 2 - Dad Bod vs Coke Bod ft.

How am I exaggerating? I said Bones is bigger in terms of frame, height and reach, which is all true. The point being that Jones isn't really smaller than Brock, and likely won't have much of a size advantage outside of weight, which won't mean much if he can't muscle Jones around or lay on top of him. Again, Cain is smaller and handled Brock. It's not all about brute size. I wouldnt' be surprised if Jones is as strong in the octagon as Brock. It's one of the things DC (who has fought HWs before) commented on after their first fight. That Jones was way stronger than he ever imagined.
To be fair though, DC is watered down at LH. That cut to 205 is a big reason why he can't use his wrestling against Jones. Even happened against Gus (he ended up in a war), who isn't nearly as strong as Jones, but another big LH.

DC and Jones both made bank today. (Twood too i guess since he should hve ppv points as a champ)

Dana just said that this card was trending over a million buys.

Dana is really not letting up on Woodley here. What an absolute cuntmuffin.

Good. That fight was a snooze fest

It takes two people to tangle. Woodley can't help that he keeps being matched up with specialists that need to be neutralised. He can't match Wonderboy's striking. He can't match Maia's grappling. What is he supposed to do? We've seen him fight freestyle fighters and put on impressive performances.

Stop making him fight one dimensional fighters.

Dana don't care.

What did he say?

Woodley fought a smart fight but it was boring, like all Damian Maia fights.

It wasn't exciting, but Woodley had to do what he had to do.

Jon Jones (while stoned) hit a pregnant woman's car that injured her and literally ran away from the scene.

Daniel Cormier lost a daughter in a car accident.

MMA still has a huge dudebro frontrunner contingency so it's not surprising but it's pretty gross when people still love Jones and have the audacity to boo Cormier. This isn't WWE.

Woodley is like UFCs Roman Reigns except Dana (vince) hates him.

Not sure I buy this comparison. Roman Reigns is exciting and generally has excellent matches. Woodley is shaping up to be the worst point fighter in all of welterweight history--and 170 is a division that has had legendary point fighters like Pat Miletich and Rush St. Pierre.

Brock panics the moment anyone lands a clean shot on him. He's been broken as a fighter since Cain exposed it. A 230 lb. Jon Jones would absolutely embarrass him.

Jon needs to just move up to HW and fight Stipe. Now, there's a fucking fight.
I agree.

Even if Jones has lost his edge (it's far too early to say), I still don't see Brock standing a chance against him. If they fight, it's 5 rounds, Brock is gassed half-way through Round 2 and Jones just picks him apart.

If you look at Brock's last 3 fights, you can see he can't hang with genuine HWs anymore. He lost with Round 1 TKOs (punches) to two guys with shorter reaches than Jon Jones.

The only reason he "beat" Mark Hunt [on steroids] is because he managed to get him down and laid on him until the end of the third round.

It's almost like the responsibility of a boring fight isn't on TWO people.

Wonderboy didn't make their fights interesting and neither did Maia.

Fuck the haters, Woodley is the deserved Champion. His takedown defence tonight was a spectacle and worth the price of admission alone.

Dana is right on woodley. Stop defending him. Blaming the competition and the fighters that earned their spots.
Do you even MMA? Woodley did literally exactly what he should against guys who come in with basically one discipline and way to win. It's only his job to retain his championship.

It's Dana's job to make the most entertaining fight. Tonight went literally exactly the way anyone would have reasonably expected that watched Maia or Woodley before. This isn't WWE. It's not on Tyron to play up to or in to the crowd. That's absurd.

Yep. Clinical. Tyron is so fucking strong. That was dominance. He was barely touched for 25 minutes.

Fuck Dana. That's the fight he had to fight. Woodley is smart. I really like him.

I was sad Cormier lost cuz I don't like big mouth cocky people but I was encouraged by what Jones said after the fight.

Woodley fought 4 title fights in 12 months, KO'd the champ in round 1, defended against the #1 contender on a 7 fight win streak 3 months later, rematched said contender 4 months later, and then went on to fight the next #1 contender also on a 7 fight win streak 4 months after that.

Where the fuck does Dana come off disrespecting his most active champion? Woodley can put up spectacular shows if he's paired with the right opponent, as is the case with the vast majority of fighters.

Dana been undermining Woodley since he took the strap of Lawler. No shit he wants to get rid of Woodley ASAP. Hopefully Woodley knocks out Lawler again, but I bet you if he loses he ain't getting a rematch, or another shot at the title off the strength of one Top 10 opponent win.

Smfh @ Dana. He just doesn't want his big draw in GSP getting washed in his first fight back. He figures (probably rightly) that GSP will kill Bisping and that will probably make more bank. And he's using that boring fight as an excuse to further shit on Woodley since Woodley beat Dana's great white hopes. Pretty transparent. But Dana's a piece of shit too.

I enjoyed the fight. Dana is right though. Feels like your reaction to this is absurd. Everything went exactly as I predicted and I got my money. All is well in life.

GSP is gonna show up, beat Bisping, then peace out.

He don't want none of Woodley or Bobby Knuckles.

wait so dana took away the GSP fight from woodley

Yeah, he said in the fifth round of the Maia/Woodley fight tonight, he decided to do GSP/Bisping instead.

Dana isn't 'right'. He's a promoter and his POV comes from that place and that place only.

It'd be like Adam Silver criticizing a NBA team for having stifling defense because the crowd didn't get to see as many dunks as they wanted.

Dana has done a lot of great things for MMA but he's unbelievably obnoxious and disrespectful to his fighters and has completely missed the mark on what he criticizes. If you think Maia/Woodley sucked then thats on him. Not the fighters. The fighters have no obligation to play up to what Dana wants from a fight. Thats not how any of this works.

The state of this sport in 2017, my god.
🤷 People watch MMA for different things.

Seeing a world class wrestler evade 21 takedown attempts against a 4th degree black belt in BJJ successfully is an awesome thing to see.

People are being straight up disrespectful to Woodley.

but at least do something

even GSP at is most boring never had a fight as bad as this one

Woodley is playing safe, thats fine, but at least do something

Bets on how long until Jones fucks everything up? I just can't see the guy changing, which is a shame. Without all that bullshit he did I would be willing to bet right now in an alternate universe he could be with both HW and LHW belts, or at least try.

What is there to 'do'? Put himself in a position to lose? It's not like he squeaked out a win. He literally dominated a guy. He came out of a 5-round title fight virtually unscathed.

Again, why is it on Woodley to lessen his chances of winning against a guy who only does one thing extremely well and had one tactic the entire night? Dana should be blaming himself. There's a reason it took Maia forever to get a title shot and it's because this is what he is. He's amazing at one discipline but he is not a 2017 level contender. Dana made the fight. Live with it.

I mean you had to give Maia a shot. He was beating literally everyone they put in front of him. He's definitely a 2017 level contender considering who he beat. It's not like he had two wins and then a title fight.
