Playing the trial on PS5. Awesome so far. Probably wait to buy it once they get more updates out.

Anyone else feel like motion blur is always on? I turned it off but I still get the feeling its active.

Panning the camera in 30fps though… terrible.

Except for part where CD Project Red said that it's not GTA and shouldn't be compared to GTA because its not GTA and that's not what they're making. So, if they don't call it a GTA-like, why should anyone else?
The cool thing is that CDPR doesn't get to choose what people compare their game to. Of course they don't want it compared to GTA. It's glaring how poorly many of the game's core mechanics compare to open world games from over a decade ago.

It's fair for people to compare it to GTA instead of Elder Scrolls since that's how CDPR themselves describe it. If they don't call it an RPG why should anyone else?
You know, I get that people have different takes for what is a RPG. For a lot of people games like "Tales of" or Final Fantasy are not RPGs because they lack meaningful choices, but the devs usually categorize their game into a genre whether players agree with it or not. And if you look at CP2077 Steam page:

jG2iWxA.jpg

They clearly consider it a RPG. So dunno where you got that from.

Speaking or creating a CP2077 threads is a bannable offense over there xD :D
I didn't believe you. Went to check, and holy shit. Those people are nuts.

On topic...
I'm glad this finally released. I beat it last year, but I wanted to do a different run once the current gen versions came out. I'll jump in once I finish Like a Dragon!

I did the same and I was taken aback. Cyberpunk dystopias are supposed to offend you.

On topic though, this patch seems great so far. I already own the game on PC but I tried both the PS5 and Series S trial versions and even the S looks good outside of the 30fps cap. I'll even say it looks bloody fantastic on my old plasma.

On PS5 you can definitely turn off motion blur so that's a Series X problem.
Can Confirm you can turn off motion blur, depth of field, film grain, chromatic aberration and lens flair on SX too it’s just under graphics in the menu not video.

Didn't see the OT anywhere so I'll ask here...

Has the "now playing" pop up stop working for anyone else? I noticed it a couple times then never again. Played for about two hours (Steam version).

It's more Skyrim than GTA.

Can confirm that PS4 load times were a minute and a half between deaths and are now 6-7 seconds on the PS5. NPCs and people in vehicles actually have some sort of pathing. The game is in a state it should have been on release. By no means a "No Man's Sky-ing," but it's officially on my to-do list now.

I don’t know why by the game looks fabulous at night or indoors but the default hdr settings are way too high outdoors during daytime and looks like shit so I’d suggest adjusting those settings heavily.

Flashless at the Golden Globes
On PS5:

- Loadings 2x faster than previous PS5 (well Pro running in BC) version
- NPC number have being increased (similar to Xbox Series version?)
- Framerate basically perfect during gameplay in both modes (this is very impressive)
- Less pop-in
- File size divided by 2 compared to PS4 version
- Improved assets (shadows, lighting, AF) and textures (in some areas).
- In both modes: DRS 2160p with common resolution of 1440p (max was 1224p before patch)

Overall plenty of improvements, notably the very stable framerate and resolution in 60fps mode.

EDIT: Apparently the framerate is not that stable in the 60fps mode according to some reports.
Just downloaded the game and it’s 56gb. Are you telling me it was 120gb on ps4?

Flashless at the Golden Globes
Its two discs. I just hit ps5 download and its 96 GB. And this ps4 version keeps trying to install too.
My PS4 version install is on pause. It says i need to put in the data disc so I must have put the wrong disc in first. It still let me redeem the PS5 download so I guess I did the right thing by accident.

and the download just says its 96 GB. once you start the download, it will show as 56 GB.

THIS.

Every next gen game should be 1440p/60.
Not sure if it would be possible with Ray Tracing but Jesus, 30fps is the pits man. Coming from PC gaming back to 30fps console gaming makes me physically sick.
60fps is fine without making me want to hurl and I'm sure there are others who feel the same.
I agree with almost everything you say, on almost every single topic. It’s getting scary.

For those wondering about HDR, the general consensus from professionals such as Vincent over at HDTVTEST is that the HDR is Cyberpunk is broken, you get a better image by running the game in SDR.

You can learn about it here:

LOL this is before the 1.5 patch update. You have proof it's still broken?

Was reading the CDPR forums, seems alot of PS4 users are getting corrupted data after patching the game to 1.5. (Makes the game unplayable)
Also some PS5 users with the physical PS4 version also cant find any way to download the free upgrade PS5 version of the game. This issue seems to be only afecting ppl from some countries.

Good thing Elden Ring is droping soon so i can forget this game even exists. :p

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

He didn't add summary to video yet but by skimming through it, same resolution metrics as PS5 and both modes seem to be steady in performance.

edit: His summary is almost exactly the same as the PS5 version.

Both modes run at 1440p. Load times are faster, other effects are improved etc etc.

It’s about trans representation. You can’t cuddle Judy or Panam as a trans character since Judy only like feminine ladies and Panam only like masculine men. It’s just a game and there are other characters willing to mix it up, but I guess they’re reminded of their own struggles in life trying to find someone to date, maybe?

There was something about a sexualized poster too where a drag queen has an outline of a big schlong under a tight dress. And it’s about some blunt social media comments too.

In the end the mods just couldn’t handle it, they posted long lists of rules how people should talk in the Cyberpunk threads, it was a complete mess.

Imagine how calm gaming boards would be if the defense for over violence was used everywhere:
”It’s just polygons. It’s not real.”

I don't like the HDR implementation in this game. It's weird, but lighting seems faker with HDR than without it. First time I find this. Maybe there are other games, but as usually they start with HDR turned on, I never bother to turn off to compare. Here I played a couple of hours until I discovered it was turned off. And when switching it on, lighting became, well, weird? fake? I don't know how to describe it. I was adjusting the values ingame but I didn't find a configuration more pleasant to my eyes than not HDR.

One more generation (or maybe a mid-gen refresh :messenger_winking:) and this game will finally reach its full graphical potential. Still, it's a huge improvement from base consoles of last generation.

Absolutely, I posted the same impressions.
30fps mode seems affected by a persistent motion blur even during camera pannings that simply ruins the image quality and make the 60fps mode look like the higher res mode.
I'm not sure what's happening, either the motion blur slider is broken or there is some post processing at work that combined with 30fps ruins the image quality.

I used settings close to this, 720 nits and 170 paper white on my OLED. I felt I'll adjust to the peak nits of my set and go from there. Didn't look at the other settings yet but CA disabled seems to be a no brainer as always.

I mean, this is the same place where you get banned for saying that a penis is male genitalia. They left common sense and reason at the door in 2017. Was it worth it? Yes, $4M apparently!

I was there, it’s an active board, lots of devs. But in the end the moderation completely ruined it. I essentially had schizofrenia at the end from having to create an alternative politically correct persona just to dodge bans. Worst thing, what they get so triggered by is hardly even understood outside the US. It’s so weird for an international board to be that one-sided with such harsh moderation. Once I got a month ban simply from being excited about Cyberpunk… in the official thread… at launch… I never returned. Imagine mods here banning people for being excited about Horizon Forbidden West at launch in the OT.

The game is okay so far. I think i'll buy. Never played before. Good thing they did this 5 hr trial. And at only 25 bucks anyway. The game remains a clusterfuck and scam, but mostly for those who pre ordered and didn't wait. For me this is a decent deal.

I was curious and downloaded the trial version on Xbox (I would never actually play the game on console due to low FOV and no controller mapping, but I just wanted to see how it fairs now)

and jesus christ that RT mode is fucking unplayable!
30fps + low FOV + motion blur + input latency like crazy... fuck me that was actually shockingly bad 🤢

it seems like even if you turn off motion blur it gets automatically turned on as soon as you use RT mode. either that or their AA or maybe their denoising is fucked.

and all that for some measly RT shadows that don't look much better than rasterized shadows in other games... god damn what a shitshow that RT mode is 🤣

the framerate mode seems to finally feel like a finished game I guess, but I would still never play this on console.
there is still no FOV slider, there are still zero controller mapping options and the aiming isn't perfect either.
the deadzone is my biggest issue when it comes to the aimig. I set the deadzone to 0 and it still has a higher deadzone than other games have as their standard setting, like wtf is this?

it runs well now, and seems mostly polished, but I would still say get it on PC if you actually wanna play it.

lol really?, i thought the top pic looked better.
The thing with RT is that precision and "physically correct" lighting/shadows doesn't always automatically look 'better'. Sometimes it's just more correct. Sometimes you wouldn't even know what's correct and what's not because in some scenes, especially with a lot of direct and indirect lighting from different sources always interacting with each other; who can tell, apart from physics experts, how should it be 'correct'?

That's the reason why in many scenes RT just looks 'different' and it's hard to tell what looks better. Damn, even in real life I think sometimes "this shadow could be sharper!" when looking at very subtle and fuzzy shadows from tree leaves cast by the sun. In a video game you would say "this is so low res and blurry!" but that's reality sometimes. Physically correct is sometimes very boring, that's my many movies, books and video games (especially set in space) take a lot of liberties.

And then you have sequences like this:

where it is very obvious that RT looks better by a mile.

I was on the board, with a different name, for years. I saw it going from a great place, with great admins/mods, to the absolute shitshow it is right now and I'm sure a ton of users have left during the years. The truth is, pre-split gaf sucked. You were banned for the stupidest reasons and it was a SJW hive almost as bad as RE is right now. Then the ideological, super PC crowd took over, like it always does. It starts with a "let's lift the voices of the oppressed" and then quickly becomes a "if you disagree, you're a monster and you're not allowed to be". It's basically a small scale socialist place, where you have to keep in line and live in terror of offending a few categories that hold all the power. This under the guise of "inclusion" and "kindness".

I wasn't ever banned, but like you I ended up censoring myself more and more. And that happens everywhere, to everyone. There's a lot of people with ideas I find disgusting on gaf, but they're allowed to express their opinion and you can engage with them. Also, they got rid of politics, which is a great things since politicizing everything is what makes people on RE who they are. Gaf is like capitalism: Far from perfect, but still the best compared to the alternatives.

Ok so I just started playing on PS5. I haven't played since I stopped in early 2021.

First thing, has the stick acceleration always been a thing? I don't remember that from when last I played but I might be mistaken. It's really off-putting. I had a quick glance at the control options and nothing immediately stood out as a way to disable it.

Help.
