Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen upgrade gameplay PS5 and XSX

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Do you need to keep the original PS4 version on the same storage as the PS5 upgrade? I installed an SSD a few months ago and was curious if they need to be in the same storage section of the PS5.

Or does it not matter.
Delete the PS4 version

I have the exact same problem of loading the PS5 update, as repored by couple of other users as well in this thread. I have the PS4 disc version which was promised to receive the PS5 update.

The store only gives me two options: the PS5 demo trial version or paid PS5 version. No matter from where I access the game versions menu, there are only these two options of demo or paid PS5 version.

Sony seems to still having trouble in delivering the correct versions of games to customers.

On PS5:

- Loadings 2x faster than previous PS5 (well Pro running in BC) version
- NPC number have being increased (similar to Xbox Series version?)
- Framerate basically perfect during gameplay in both modes (this is very impressive)
- Less pop-in
- File size divided by 2 compared to PS4 version
- Improved assets (shadows, lighting, AF) and textures (in some areas).
- In both modes: DRS 2160p with common resolution of 1440p (max was 1224p before patch)

Overall plenty of improvements, notably the very stable framerate and resolution in 60fps mode.

EDIT: Apparently the framerate is not that stable in the 60fps mode according to some reports.

Huh, might be seeing PS5’s compression in action, the patch actually increased the file size on SX vs pre-patch (in fact the patch was larger than the entire game) .

Thats because the PC version is using RT Lighting

Its darker because its using the sun as a light source, there are no probes lighting the scene incorrectly

Even now on consoles, its lit like the image on the right due to the lack of RT Lighting.

They really, really should have put in RT Lighting on consoles, since it completely changes the game.

Run it at 1080p, I wouldnt give a damn
The problem with RT lighting is that it's very heavy in this game. My 2080TI can barely hold 60 fps with RT lighting at medium and with DLSS. Without DLSS it would be a shitshow.

Not sure if game is 30 fps in quality mode. Playing the game is assume it's hovering around 25-30 fps on Xbox Series X. Being sub 30 most of the time. Or just a feeling? Game feels really "slow".
Framerate isn't stable in performance mode neither but with VRS active at least you won't suffer any tearing, feels like it does down into the high 40s in some moments.
But that are just my subjective feelings, maybe the 165 hz on the PC just ruined my gaming sensations.

Where did people expect a western first-person RPG to be GTA? This comparison keeps popping up.

I guess that's the narrative that'll be used when Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI don't work like GTA.
CDPR shouldn't have changed the description of the game from RPG to open-world, action-adventure as stated on the front page of the Cyberpunk.net website.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character’s cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you.

It's fair for people to compare it to GTA instead of Elder Scrolls since that's how CDPR themselves describe it. If they don't call it an RPG why should anyone else?

The most important question is it worth jumping back in on PC?
I've played about 3-4 hours, have a 3090 paired with a slightly older i79700k. I distinctly remember spots where performance was absolute shit, like it'd drop to the low 30's in heavily populated areas. Now with the patch while I'm not getting 90-120, it does hold around 60 and in most cases stays steady around 80.

Keep in mind I'm playing on a 38" ultrawide 4k monitor with Ray tracing minus shadows, using DLSS balanced. So if you mess with the settings your experience can vary. The game still on PC is arguably the best looking game out today. When all the elements come together it looks fucking fantastic. They've added more rpg elements back into the game which is welcome and the little things like more apartment spaces and character customization are nice. I haven't had a chance to mess with the rest of the new stuff that's been added like the skills and weapons.

If you're starting fresh and you have a relatively decent rig I think it's a safe time to jump in.

when i played Cyberpunk. my main concerns were the bugginess, wonkiness, controls and weird lifeless world.

At least from the gameplay demo. that looks the same

Installed the trial, it found my 45hrs save from a year ago, tried that one.

Lasted 15 minutes, the loop is just not fun. Off I go to buy Witcher 3.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

1440p in both modes with chances of DRS, improved visuals, more NPCs, better shadows/reflections etc.

The above video only covers PS5 update. An Xbox video will probably come soon.

Got the PS5 upgrade, installed it, but the system always wants to install the PS4 game from the play disc.

Looks great. Definitely jumping back in today.

Question for those on PS5 with the PS4 disc version.

Do I need to install and update the PS4 version to current patch before I can start downloading the PS5 version? Or can I start installing the PS5 version as soon as I insert the PS4 disc?

I'm happy with it. 1440p/60 has always been the sweet spot on these new systems and they increased the npc count on ps5 a ton. I did notice some drops in the 60 fps mode though. It was never going to be 4k/60 or have RT reflections and shadows at anything above 30 fps. Unlike say, Control ultimate, this has rt shadows (which is a pretty big deal when u realize that's with reflections) they managed to get this at a higher resolution with higher settings and none of the extr input lag that Control suffers from.

They did a good job

THIS.

Every next gen game should be 1440p/60.
Not sure if it would be possible with Ray Tracing but Jesus, 30fps is the pits man. Coming from PC gaming back to 30fps console gaming makes me physically sick.
60fps is fine without making me want to hurl and I'm sure there are others who feel the same.

Played through all of Act 1 (Corpo) on XSX today. Only had one major frame drop, when coming downstairs from the penthouse, seriously dropped to like 15fps for a second. Other than that it was real smooth.

Not triggered, if anything you seem triggered by simply seeing a CP2077 thread. Imagine being a vegan and driving by a steakhouse and taking the time to stop and go in and make the announcement to everyone that nothing the cooks can do will ever get you to eat their meat, what's the point? You're just looking for attention.
Suuuure, you quoted me just to mock my post. I honestly expected little to no reactions to my post, yet here you are. if I wanted attention I would post on the NSFW threads in off-topic. But thanks for the "attention" I guess

Playing it on PS5 from my old PS4 save.

Didn’t have to import anything. It was automatic which is pretty cool.

I go back and forth between modes but prefer performance. RT shadows are lovely though so if there’s a heavy shadow scene I switch back to check how it’s looking.

Game is still so bugged. Main characters walking through furniture during cutscenes. Police shooting with their backs turned to you. NPCs appearing/disappearing in front of you. Cars randomly explode. It’s so rough.

The L3 toggle to run is also super hit and miss. Don’t know what’s up with that.

Dual sense implementation is great and guns feel very different.

Anyone got a comparison with V getting in the car with deshawn while he's smoking a cigar?. Pre patch it was extremely apparent how bad it looked compared to pc. I'd be interested to see that scene post patch.

And now a new batch of people get to enjoy the wonders of the song: ‘Ponpon Shit’. This song is sure to hit #1 on the charts now and if not…then people are stupid and have no taste in music.

I love that they added a denpa song in this, the lyrics are also hilarious.

I also prefer performance (and usually I'm a fidelity over frame rate type of person if it's worth it, I've been playing Uncharted remaster at 4k and I will be playing Horizon in 4k mode given how better it looks) but here there's something weird with the 30fps mode.
As soon as you move the camera (even just a panning left and right) there is an aggressive post processing effect that blurs the image even if motion blur is turned off in the menu.
60fps actually looks cleaner. Also it feels heavy and floaty to play.
So I'm looking forward to see if DF, NX and others can explain what's going on.
The ray traced shadows have a really subtle impact that is hard to notice unless you switch continously between modes looking hard for differences.
Ray traced reflections would have changed the situation but unfortunately they couldn't implement them.

ooks great. Definitely jumping back in today.

No, as soon as you put in the disc you will see a option pop up on the side of the screen (above the trophy list) to upgrade to the PS5 edition.

same thing happened to me, it's really annoying. any way to fix this?
Buy the digital version?

I sold my physical long time ago and waited for PSN sale to buy the digital version on the cheap in prep for the PS5 upgrade because I knew disc upgrade would be cumbersome.

THE GAME IS INSTALLED. It keeps prompting to install the PS4 game from the disc even with the PS5 version installed.

Are you using the PLAY disc to play the game or Install disc?

Once the game is installed, use the Play disc (disc 2) to play the game
It keeps trying to install from the play disc even with the PS5 version installed. Why the fuck would I want the PS4 version installed?

Honestly, it still looks and feels like a last gen game with worse crowd physics than 2007 Assassin’s. Mankind Divided, to say one that has the same aesthetic, looks better.
