i cant believe they dont have the rewind function, DIRT was the one that invented it! its annoying in a arcade racer that one mistake just means having to restart the whole race

DpQ9YJl.png

The rewind feature was invented by the Italian Milestone team (the ones currently making Ride 4), in SCAR: Squadra Corse Alfa Romeo if I'm not mistaken (but could have been Racing Evoluzione, I'm not sure).

As it's usually the case, everyone else shamelessly copied that feature and the original ideators never get a glimpse of recognition.

I never bothered lugging out my wheel set up to try out the new wheel support. Judging from what people are saying....it's garbage. Zero FFB, you can hit a jump and when you land, nothing will even happen to your wheel.

is it just me or did they nerf the carrier difficulty in the last patch?

for those who play this on PC: there is something seriously wrong with the default gamma / brightness settings on Ampere (and maybe also other nvidia cards too) in HDR. i had to adjust that manually as good as i can. looks worlds better now. not quite accurate though.

So, anyone playing after the newest patch? Just saw this comment on YT:

Framerate dips only happened in quality mode when driving in water puddles on PS5. Now it happens randomly all the time. Sometimes it dips to like 15fps since the update. It’s unplayable.

Another patched downgrade like the one in ACV?

Tried setting up my wheel with the latest patch on PC despite hearing that it was bad.

Well, its worse than I even could have thought. When a race starts it acts as if I'm full throttle and the brake is being held down. This results in me not moving. This is unacceptable. Between Dirt5 and CP2077, I hate myself.

Oh shit, bought in on sale. I am on XSX and this games handles like a dream very little input lag, playing on 60hz, 120hz compromise picture a lot for my liking. Playin on LG CX. Really do not perceive any frame drops, playing on "prioritize resolution"...

Just picked this up on ps5. Was looking for something casual with good visuals and am a little disappointed at the moment.

The visuals overall have good environments, weather and lighting effects, but it feels a little inconsistent when you see low res details on objects and vehicles. Vehicles themselves don't look that great to me for some reason.

The different visual modes aren't great either. I've only tried 120fps and performance modes and was very disappointed. 120fps didn't really feel much smoother on my LG OLED and the visual downgrade was horrid so I turned it down to the 60fps performance mode and started noticed a lot of frame-rate issues. Didn't really look like tearing as much as drops and dips.

The controls and handling/gameplay is nice, but the collisions feel like they lack weight and the announcers/presentation is a little flat. Online is insanely bare bones, but was passable for the few races I tried.

I think if the frame-rate was more solid I would feel better, so I hope that a future patch will clean this up. May still try the resolution mode just to see if it is more stable overall.

It does play smoother in resolution mode on SX anyway. I didn't like it at all at first but the deeper I've got into the game I sort of think yeah its not too bad. A typical launch game. The biggest thing for me is the AI, I put it up to hard since last patch and now its either too easy or too hard. Like racing with a nest of Wasps.

Cycled through all the modes for a few different tracks. Resolution mode is definitely the worst frame-rate which should be expected, performance is better but still has regular issues, high fps is actually pretty smooth in retrospect, but it definitely looks drab. Really wish they could have nailed 60fps in one of the 3 options on ps5 😢

I just joined their discord and saw this on their Dec 22 update:

LATEST UPDATE - DECEMBER 22, 2020

Hi all – a final update of 2020 for you on DIRT 5 community-related topics blush

Update 2.00 is now live on all platforms – we appreciate your patience with this latest update and hope you enjoy the free Snow Limits content and addition of wheel support. Whilst the team are obviously taking a hard-earned festive break, reports from players will continue to be monitored, and we’re collating all feedback to get stuck into in January.

A hotfix (2.00.1) has also gone live on PC and PS5/4 to address the issue some players had accessing Career mode. On PC, this also added further visual improvements for Nvidia GPUs. This hotfix is also set to come to Xbox, likely (but confirmed) in January.

Current topics that we’ve already started looking into include certain PS5 Trophies not triggering for some players, notably around Throwdowns, Gymkhana points and total mileage. On PS5 we’ve also noted the reports of some stutters or frame drops during gameplay – this is logged and will be investigated.

We’ve noted a few reports of players on PS5 experiencing a soft lock crash at the end of events, with the car not appearing on the podium. Whilst we look into this, a workaround for players is to press the PS button on their controller and select any Activity/Trophy, that redirects them to a different area of the game. Using this workaround means no reboot is required and no progress is lost.

Whilst the majority of players are reporting a smooth experience with DIRT 5, we’re looking into the topics above, and any other reports that come in, to ensure your voice is heard. Thank you, and Happy Holidays from the DIRT 5 team!

Frame rate has to be bug as its so random no cars stutter full grid and rain can then run fine also view change can cause stutter. Xsx had same bug its in nx gamers vid 40fps drops think its fixed on xsx now.also there is a yellow screen bug on the intro of some races. Hope they fix frame rate soon as some saying didn't happen before patch on ps5

yeah, it happens on some very specific turns. no framedrops at the start with a dozen cars on screen and then boom, massive stuttering when you take the lead on some random turn. makes no sense and is clearly a bug.

High frame rate is where it's at for me, the main issue I have is I have to have hdr turned off because the screen goes dark when switching to 120fps mode.

Is it just me or since the last update the game runs weirdly on PS5 on quality mode? Like, 12 cars in the screen? No problem, 60fps. Nothing to render? Random frame drop.

Anyone?

Yeah I got the game for Christmas and get slowdown on pretty much every track. Bin waiting 3 weeks for a patch but looks like it ain't being fixed.

Disappointing to hear ongoing bugs without acknowledgement from the devs. This is the kind of game that flourishes based on gamer advocacy, instead it’s digging its grave.

Any news on PS5 performance? Getting itchy again, although I feel this may come to psplus sooner rather than later.

Still no fixes and nothing planned likely for Fanatec wheels and plenty other wheels. Horrible support for a game in one of the biggest arcade racing franchises. Game sold like complete dog shit on PC so I guess I shouldn't expect much. So glad I refunded the Amplified Edition. Unfortunately I did preorder the normal edition on cdkeys.

5 hours played on this piece of trash.

I'm like the biggest Motorstorm fan,I love those games even the Vita one....but I can't bring myself to pull the trigger on Dirt 5.After getting the last Grid in a sale and it being a pretty bland and unrewarding game I can't shake the feeling that Dirt 5 looks like more of the same.
I don't know exactly what Codemasters have lost in recent years but that special something that made a game like Dirt 2 so much fun has gone for me.I hope they can get back to greatness under EA.....fuck,never thought I'd hear myself say that, lol.

I like Dirt 5 a lot It's very fun to play and sometimes it looks gorgeus.. I have the 3.0 Update with the new energy content. It's true, the Framerate is much better, but It's a Disaster. In 2 hours gameplaytime, 4 times show me the game issues and throw me out.. I hope Codemasters fix this issue very quick.. Wait with the purchase, if you have not the one Year upgrade..

content drop today and it is only 30 bucks on PSN right now. Might be the right time to buy on my PS5

- edit, I was duped, twitter told me it was free, I WAS HOODWINKED

ps5 version here updated from original ps4 disc.the ps5 version of the game even after this update still has major frame rate issues. I have compared this to the xbox sx version on the the same track etc the one track i use is south africa city bowl reverse, on the xsx the game runs fine on the ps5 there are random frame rate drops.the big problem is that when the game was first tested by digital foundry etc the ps5 version of the game was regarded as the best version, with the most stable frame rate, best controls, and better graphics.this is no longer the case the ps5 version is now the worst because of the frame rate issues which i believe became worse after one of the updates.this is why ps5 owners are not happy yes it may run ok on the ps4 but you lose the haptic feedback and there is texture draw in(edited)

Just downloaded update. The game still sucks, Fuck all content added in the update. Online play is still a joke with ZERO cross platform play making the game even more dead on PC.

The performance issues that were fixed kind of seem pointless because the game itself is actually pointless. Playgrounds mode is a shit show.

I should have refunded this game when I had the chance, Now I just look and feel like a fucking retard keeping this game expecting them to make it decent. I mean it's steps backwards in comparison to Dirt 2 / 3 For fuck sakes.

Total joke!

Can anybody else chime in on this?

Perhaps try an uninstall, and reinstall fresh?
