5/10.

Scorn looks great and with an actual release date. Benedict Fox game, Plague Tale: Requiem, Flintlock could be cool...
Starfield looking very interesting but that's it. No Hellblade, No Avowed, no date on Somerville, nothing really big for Q4 2022. Just not much there for me.

i was expecting something from hell blade, state of decay, avowed and fable.
Anyway, where was Banjo? Goldeneye? Starfield looked good but 1000’s of planets totally explorable? So like No Man’s Sky worked? Not what I was expecting.
No Gears, no Halo, No Fable, No avowed, No Banjo, No Hellblade 2 nothing really.
Why was Hellbalde 2 a no-show?
I was expecting to see another extensive gameplay trailer, because the previous gameplay reveal was far too scripted and left me underwhelmed.
All those studios they bought and this is all they have to show for it 🤦🏾‍♂️
No AAA Fall 2022 game releases (nothing since last fall either). No Machine Games, InExile....no Perfect Dark, Indiana Jones, Fable, Hellblade 2, Goldeneye Remastered, Quake....
Srsly where were Goldeneye and Banjo? The "leaks" sounded legit. I refuse to accept they were just made up BS.
Was kind of hoping for a snippet of Gears 6 just to showcase what the XBSX could do. No Hellblade either, nor Avowed or Fable. XBOX has some heavy IPs but nothing to show.

I really wanted to see a RIDDICK escape from Butcher Bay remake too. That game was incredible on 1st gen Xbox hardware.
I cannot believe that Fable, Hellblade, Avowed, Perfect Dark, Everwild, State of Decay were not at the show

12 Months. The minute they announced that everything being shown would be released in 12 months, your expectations should have been set.

Expected Evil Within 3 and Kojima‘s game teaser, got nothing. Starfield and Forza saved the show. Going back to my backlog, this year is average for my game tastes.

Of course they are you fool. Learn to troll better.
is this suppose to be some type of dog whistle for mods? could u be more sensitive? its a legit question because this was the first actual look at the game... sorry your peanut brain can't comprehend why i asked the question.

There was no prior indication that Hellblade 2 wouldn't be released within the next 12 months though, not even any leaks alluding to it.
It was announced in 2019 and so far we've already seen one cinematic tailer, one gameplay trailer, and a host of dev diaries, so expecting it to show up in some capacity was completely reasonable imo 🤷‍♂️

No shit. But it's been years since they acquired these studios and the expectation is that some of these would be ready. EVERY year its the same song and dance.
It has been rough for MS in the past few years(post pandemic), but I'd argue that their 2 last really good shows were E3 2018 and E3 2019.

Sometimes, I read Gaf, and I feel like I'm in a different dimension to the rest of the userbase.

The Microsoft conference had a massive amount of stuff, and all of it releasing within 12 months, including Diablo 4, fully unlocked Riot games, the Persona ports that people have been screaming about for years, Starfield, Overwatch 2.. all massive, massive titles.

Then I check this thread - 'lol nogaems 2/10' while people spent this weak in a state of perpetual orgasm over Sony re-releasing The Last Of Us with a $70USD price tag.

It's just fucking bizarre.

For me? 9/10, just because I want something new to play today. Other than that, it was a great presentation that was packed with really good stuff.
Like did you even read what you wrote?

Naughty dog out in some work and effort into remaking a classic and other games we’ve seen are games people have asked for and want to play! Those same games at this conference are gonna be on PlayStation as well.

Just last week people were shutting on Sony calling them an indie box and all that due to the games they seen and $70 price tag full of remakes. What are you really getting from Xbox outside of gamepass? Nothing I seen was worthy of that console nor those acquisition’s!

And then this happens

Sony’s latest State of Play was better lmao

Which goes to show the state of the industry is not in a great place right now if this is the next 12 months for both.

3/10 for me.

Wasn't interested in Starfield, and even less after that mess. Bethesda is the only studio (Maybe cause they are Microsoft owned now) that people here will be just fine with them not improving bugs, graphics, animation, or engine in 20 years. Any other studio pulls this and they are raked through the coals.

Really the only game I saw today that would get me to keep my GP sub going is Diablo IV....and maybe OW2 (If i ditch the other GaaS stuff I play)

Way to much indie trash for me personally, not worth getting up early from a good sleep to watch for sure.

Most every studio they bought in 2018/2019 has put out at least one game, they just were from old deals so not exclusives. Games are taking 5 years to make due to covid, why are you surprised studios acquired 5 years ago that already had deals in place don’t have more games out yet?

11-point scale? Were you high?

For me it had some games that mildly interest me, but not ONE system seller.

Show had good production value, so 2/5.

Redfall, High on Life, A Plague Tale Requiem, Ravenlok & Cocoon certainly interest me. For the PC at least

I thought Forza Motorsport looked absolutely stunning, pissing all over GT7 alas I don't like sims. Same goes for MS Flight Sim, amazing looking but like Forza won't be on my list. Starfield is of no interest to me but the final segment of the showcase looked nice. I'm sure it'll be a 200 hour epic I wouldn't have a hope in hell of making past the character creation screen. I thought it was a pretty impressive tbh, more so had it been 12 months ago.

Disappointed there was nothing shown of the rumored new Quake.

I'd give it an 8. Starfield looked great and I was more impressed with RedFall than I figured I would be.

Plus, the event was exactly what I would do if I was planning it myself. They get extra points from me for that. I hope they keep this format going. With a preview of the next 12 months in the summer, with teasers of more distant things saved for other events (game awards, etc.)

The Japanese style fighting game looked interesting.

'Like', I did.

The highlight of Sony's conference was a remake of a 10 year old game.

If you're expecting Microsoft to suddenly abandon the centrality of their Gamepass strategy to everything they do going forward, I don't know what to tell you. What are you getting from Xbox 'outside of Gamepass'? You can buy all of the games that were showcased, if a Gamepass subscription is too rich for your blood.

Or, you can scream in ecstasy as Sony sells you the same games over and over and over again. The choice is yours.

than dont show us teasers and trailers for these games so early. when we saw them last year, you would expect a little update on some of them atleast a year later but no. nothing! you really couldnt show a little more of hellblade 2?

People play these broken buggy games for a reason you know. They are immersive and great experiences. It could have looked alot worse and people still would be excited (i tought it looked good btw)

60% small budget trashola.

30% high budget meh.

10% Diablo and Starfield slapping my tits around.

7/10 hard carried by D4 and Starfield.

TLOU Remake was not part of the PS SOP. 🤔

Starfield, diablo 4 and redfall looked good, saved the show as the rest was a bore. Was expecting more bombs considering all the acquisitions but it was mostly stuff we already knew about. Hope diablo 4 is gamepass to.

Not Really. Bethesda completed just last year, most of (if not all) of the other studio's have released something either just before or just after being bought.

It's YOUR expectation since you read and believe the nonsense on this board.

It's was pretty average to below average show overall, which is disappointing at this point in the generation tbh.

This is why I hope that they continue this 12 month plan every summer and stop announcing games years away. It will please everyone in the long run.

I must not care for video games anymore lol. This was a 3 at best I thought. Only Diablo 4 looked cool.

without starfield, it would have easily been one of the worst shows from microsoft we have ever had imo. even then, starfield couldnt redeem the hour or boredom before it.

6.5/10 for me but if I have to round, 7/10. My unquestionable favorites were Ravenlok, Enberma (I know it starts with an "E" but forgot the rest of the title), Diablo 4, Forza Motorsport, RedFall, Plague's Tale: Requiem and that side-scrolling gothic-detective game. However, if I'm being honest, Forza visually doesn't look that much better than GT7 and I think GT7 has the superior lighting system and color palette, but Forza has real-time RT in-game and car damage modeling which are pluses over GT7 (at least until PD add in real-time RT, which is a possibility). RedFall actually got me interested a lot more now that the concept's been explained and they showed some gameplay. The visuals aren't show-stopping but I never expected that, and they look good enough to sell the vibe. It's on my radar.

Ravenlok, that Enberma game, the side-scrolling detective game and Plague's Tale: Requiem also looked really good but I know they're either also coming to PS Day 1 (meaning they're mainly just GamePass exclusives), or might be timed exclusives for 3 months max since that seems to be MS's style with indie timed exclusives. And I'm not a heavy "Day 1" type of guy, I can wait until I have time to realistically play a game, hell I'm still crawling through HFW and that came out in February.

Games I'm interested in playing for sure, but cautiously optimistic about, are mainly Overwatch 2, Scorn and Starfield. The former just looks like an expansion for the first game IMO. Starfield as a concept is something I definitely am into wanting to play and seems ambitious as hell, but I don't know if the engine can support their ambitions. They really need to iron out technical performance and I think it needs a 60 FPS option at least for Series X and PC. I wouldn't say the visuals were amazing; it's maybe more of a looker than Elden Ring but still falls flat to HFW and at least in terms of framepacing seems to have similar issues to Elden Ring but this isn't a cross-gen game, so there shouldn't be a reason why the final game has the same issues.

Hopefully they fix that or they may have to push it to H2 2023 if they need the time on the technical side. I've seen some people saying it's Halo Infinite 2020 levels tho and, no, it's nowhere near that IMO. I just hope the engine can be optimized a bit more to fix what looked like jerkiness due to framepacing issues, that's all. As for Scorn, I'm definitely interested in it, there aren't enough Giger-influenced games, but I just hope the extended time it's been in development is a good sign and not a bad one.

Most of the other games were nice to see there, but not stuff I'm actively anticipating, so they were kind of whatever. Only a few of those seemed appealing to me personally, but I'm sure they have their fans, like the new Minecraft game. Either that, or they were just DLC content updates, which they probably could've saved for the Extended showcase on Tuesday. However, there were some big omissions and disappointments for me there though; I genuinely can't believe As Dusk Falls is just a "storyboard game", with a seemingly Choose Your Own Adventure book-like setup. Is that really the extent of the gameplay? I was expecting something at least kind of like a Tell Me Why or Life is Strange, or even a Telltale style setup. If the gameplays' really a bunch of storyboards then you might as well just call it a flash game and host it on Newgrounds. At least it releases soon. That Pentiment game is also not exactly what I was expecting, not necessarily in a good way. I know what they're going for aesthetically, but it needs a lot more work to actually nail it.

Then there are the no-shows. Nothing new for Hellblade II, nothing on Avowed. I was at least expecting some new gameplay for those since they always seemed the furthest along, but there's a real possibility they are 2024 (or later) releases. I know some people were teasing Banjo-Kazooie remake, but that was more of a cherry on top, not really holding that against them for not revealing. Gears Remake Collection was another one but again, mainly Xbox-centric people were ever bringing it up. I figure it would've been big enough to include today but they could still reveal that one on Tuesday. No Everwild or Perfect Dark, but that's expected given what's been going on with those games. It's also really wild to consider that they really don't have anything 1P for 2022 at all in terms of new game releases, unless you count Grounded coming out of beta. All other new 1P content is DLC for existing games.

I suppose getting the Persona games into GamePass is a good get, tho a weird one considering they aren't bringing them to PS or even Switch. The advent of seemingly all the Persona & Yakuza games going into GamePass, I wonder if it'll have a knock-on effect for Sega-Atlus where people on PS and Nintendo just decide not to buy them Day 1 and wait for what seems like inevitable inclusions into GamePass, or possibly PS+ Extra/Premium in Sony's case, because it's probably going to irritate some longtime fans that the platform which is the least popular for both franchises is getting the best deal on them for owners of that platform, and it's not a secret that a growing number of PS5 & Switch owners have also been buying Series S systems, primarily for GamePass. I guess we'll see where things go in that direction but I'm sure PS & Nintendo Persona/Yakuza fans are making note of this.

While it probably doesn't seem like that high a score, the show itself did have some big improvements, mainly a lot of actual gameplay, which I'm glad they did and hope they'll continue doing going forward. I don't know where I'd put this show overall between the State of Play and Devolver's event, but I know for a fact it beat the shit out of Summer Game Fest's show, so that's a plus in my book. However I won't be surprised if Capcom, Square-Enix and Nintendo's events are at least on par if not better for me, though I guess it also depends on what type of stuff you really prefer as a gamer.

If you're big into FPS and WRPG games for example, nothing's really touching this Xbox Showcase in your opinion. If you're more into indies, it's a tossup honestly. If you're more into JRPGs then the SoP and Square-Enix's shows will be more your thing. Fighters? Again SoP and Capcom's (also interesting that SF6 was not in the Xbox Showcase; if it's not in Tuesday's either then I'm pretty sure Sony have co-marketing rights on the game and that wouldn't be surprising at all). And if you just wanted a really interesting and fun presentation alongside game stuff, Devolver's.

The Japanese style fighting game looked interesting.

What game was that?

Umm what is gamepass offering again… yeah!

There are several people excited for a 10yr old game who were prolly too young at the time to play it so now they can with better graphics and shit. You seems hurt by my comment and that’s cool, but to go this long with nothing NEXT GEN, is crazy to me
