I wanted a few more surprises and looks at already announced things but I think they made up for it with all the gameplay they showed instead of the usual CG trailers.

How people are rating this an '8' are insane. No new games. No AAA Fall 2022 game releases (nothing since last fall either). No Machine Games, InExile....no Perfect Dark, Indiana Jones, Fable, Hellblade 2, Goldeneye Remastered, Quake....
No new games?

Mate you can say you don't like what they showed, but there were plenty of games I've never heard of in that presser.

I mean, yes, good, it's all coming in a reasonable time... but that reasonable time barely included anything this year, and then so little of it was from Xbox Game Studios companies (who have had games on the record for two years or more which people were expecting updates for) that it sort of diminished excitement even further knowing that we're seeing all the announcements for what to play next year and it still won't include most of those games.

But still, there is a positive way to look at this show. (And I'm with you both, stating that outright would have helped the show. I don't understand why companies are so hesitant to pre-outline their show a bit, just a little bit of framework indication helps set expectations and understanding of what's about to roll on a stream.)
That's a fair critique, no questions there, but the realities of the world can't be bargained with. Starfield was their big end of year title, and the delayed it for quality reasons. They can't materialise new games for 2022 out of nowhere. For me, I still have Scorn to look forward to, plus third-party games I'm hyped for, like The Calisto Protocol. If their 2023 titles start slipping, they'll be in serious trouble though. Two years of nothing? Gamepass subs will start dropping - hard.

Like how can you not be hyped for Wo Long. On game pass day one. I don't get people. I really don't.
A game we know nothing about? a new ip with no previous history? Set in the same setting as all Koei Tecmo Dynasty Warrior games? For all we know it could just be like those games and despite me loving warriors games i wouldn't be hyped.

9/10 because of Starfield. Remove that and it would be 6/10, lots of good stuff but not so many things that blew me away, and for some reason I had a deaf interpreter at the side during the whole show which was awkward (but awesome for deaf people I’m sure)

Well, my fear has come true. Microsoft's showcases should now be called Xbox Game Pass Showcase because that's exactly what it is. Nothing but Indies. Not a single major AAA third party publisher. No major reveals. No gameplay for Avowed, Contraband, etc.

Nothing but Game Pass, Game Pass and Game Pass. My God. This is not what I spent $500 on. Indies are great for those who love them but that's not me. Out of the 30 games shown, only 4 of them were for me.

Redfall - love the gameplay aspect and the vibe but visually, very disappointed.
A Plague Tale Requiem - easily, the best game of the showcase for me. Looks great but sadly, no release date.
Diablo IV - looks good for what it is and im very interested in it.
Starfield - looks like what I imagined it to look like. Looks good at best. I think they should have shown off more vibrant, lush, foliage filled planets than what they showed. Not impressed at all. Shooting and gameplay do look like it's the best in any Bethesda Game Studios game. I can see why it was delayed as it needs another year in my opinion.

Overall - 4.0/10.

Very disappointed and at times, I was like, WTF is this shit show? I'm simply not someone who's reliant and dependent on Game Pass. I have no issues buying $70 games day one. But whatever, it is what it is. :(

It's a Team Ninja game and looks very, very, very similar to Nioh's art style. We can't say with 100% certainty, but I'd be shocked if it's anything like Dynasty Warriors. They looked like they were highlighting boss fights.

Nope, I thought it was awesome and by far the best of any of the shows we've seen already. The stuff I would have cut out is stuff others probably loved and vice versa what others would have cut out. It's great to have something for everyone.
The best? Okay now you’re wylin. This was hella bloated

I gave a 7 but that’s probably a bit generous. I liked the more short time frame and game play focus. Thankfully a lot of third parties got some air time else it would be barren (yes, I’m still calling Blizzard third party for now). The quantity of was shown from Xbox Games Studios & Bethesda itself was abysmal.

I am talking about the show overall! I’m including how it was edited how it was paced and what message they were tying to send.

For me only 2 games caught my attention.

The message MS was sending is clear, get gamepass!

I didn’t got surprised so hyping shows, bad. Phil with 7 years on the job still haven’t learn!
To be honest though, you don't like Xbox or Microsoft so it's kind of hard to take your opinion seriously when you're bashing constantly. With that said, maybe someday they'll make a game that you will want to play.

??? I bash them because they can do better for us gamers and their fans. I own an Xbox! Ok I am not in the Xbox fanclub, but come on, MS have almost unlimited resources, they could do stuff Sony and Nintendo can only dream off!!!

It was a 5 for me.

Out of everything they showed, I was only interested in:
High on Life,
Benedict Fox,
Ravenlok,
Cocoon,
Starfield (
but only playing in 3rd person because fuck FPS).

Everything else was straight MeH!

Was expecting Hellblade and Forza for 2022 minimum. Got neither and Hellblade wasn't even there. There's no way to spin it, 2022 has been brutal for Series X gamers.

Persona moving to multi-platform is a big deal. More for Persona 6, as those others were PS2, PSP and PS3 games, so pretty ancient, but will still be awesome to replay, especially on Switch.

Overall, pretty disappointing. Starfield looked ok, but still pretty janky.

Given another chance
Starfield, Diablo, Plague Tale, Silksong and Forza look great. Rest was meh or boring.
Will give the show a 5 our of 10.
Completely agree with this.
5 from me.
Can’t believe they didn’t show more of Scorn.
Was kind of hoping for a snippet of Gears 6 just to showcase what the XBSX could do. No Hellblade either, nor Avowed or Fable. XBOX has some heavy IPs but nothing to show.

I really wanted to see a RIDDICK escape from Butcher Bay remake too. That game was incredible on 1st gen Xbox hardware.

One of the worst MS shows Ive ever seen and I remember the ones where they would try and shove kinectimals down our throat. The only thing that saved it from a 1/10 was Starfield and the Forza preview. Starfield is absolutely amazing, and one of the first next gen gameplay showcases ive seen but Forza didnt give me any next gen vibes. Forza Horizon 5 looks better and its an open world game.

Redfall looked dated as fuck. I have no idea why Arkane wastes time on these games. I have no idea why MS is allowing them to make these games. If it doesn't look next gen, if it doesnt look AAA, if it is a coop zombie shooter, do NOT greenlight it. There are plenty of third parties making this trash. Let them waste time on that stuff.

I cannot believe that Fable, Hellblade, Avowed, Perfect Dark, Everwild, State of Decay were not at the show when they were revealed 2 years ago at E3. It is simply unacceptable, and MS needs to stop firing directors and start firing executives and studio heads because shit like this screams poor management. Why are games being rebooted? Why cant you trust a director to do their job? Why did you pick him if you ended up not trusting his creative vision? Why is this happening at Rare with Everwild, with Fable, with Halo, Avowed and Perfect Dark. At what point do you say, this is NOT the studio's fault but the people running these fucking studios.

Matt Booty has to go. He said cross gen games for the first 2 years. Ok, 2 years are going to pass in november 2022. What do you have next year? Where are these first party games? If it wasnt for Bethesda, they would literally have nothing for studios that were directly under Matt Booty for over 9 years now. I bet he takes Phil's job after he retires because thats how you fail upwards in these firms.

4/10. Thank god for Forza and Starfield.

I feel like we've been seeing flight Sim, ESO, Fallout 76 and sea of thieves for the past 5 years... Make it stop please.

Redfall, Forza and Starfield didn't dissapoint.

Starfield looks incredible and the kind of things I will spend thousands of hours into.

Grounded finally launching is dope. The deal with Riot is just ridiculous value for me.

But FM being delayed and most of the good stuff being 2023 is a fair criticism. Still a 10 for me because Starfield is all I ever wanted.

How can that show be 1 point off perfection to you? Not digging mate. Everyone can have an opinion. But 1 away from perfection?

I gave it a 7. Nothing I actually want that’s exclusive, but good nonetheless.

It’ll inevitably be compared so Sony’s blowout, and in that instance I don’t think it’ll hold a candle to it.

I gave it a 7/10. I liked the focus on showing on gameplay of games coming in the next year over cgs of games to be released 5 years in the future.

Regarding big 1st parties yes, 2022 will be a weak year but the 1st half of 2023 is going to be very strong with Starfield, Forza, Redfall, Diablo IV and Overwatch 2. And well, regarding 3rd party and indies the whole next year (including 2nd half of this one) Gamepass is going to feature a good amount of quality games for many tastes with nice surprises like Silksong or the Riot DLCs. Regarding surprises for me has been Kojima announcing that will do a game for them, something I thought it was another lie from Grubb.

Regarding previously announced games that weren't shown because will be released later, I know some people are thinking about development issues, but it isn't the case. The only issue is that they announced it with a logo or CG when they still didn't start to develop the game, and AAA games need many years to be developed.

As an example, Hellblade II less than a year ago Antoniades said they were in preproduction and that had to do the vertical slice (which I think we saw in December) before moving to full production. Once in production, which maybe started early this year, add several years of development specially if as I assume the game plans to be bigger than the previous one. Or as another example, Fable opened around 200 open job positions late 2018 to work on this game, which is their first one of this genre and scale (scale way bigger than the one of their previous games), like a new IP for them (not a sequel where they rehash most of the stuff) and have to adapt their whole game engine. So good 5 or 6 years. And well, we also have to consider covid.

I think they did a solid and realistic conference with quality (there were a some mediocre titles, but overall was very good), quantity and variety of stuff coming the next year instead of selling smoke and mirrors.

Super impressed with how much Gamepass will have over the next year. Tons of AAA, indie, arthouse, SP, MP.

AND! Leaned almost not at all on top dollar IP. Wild.

I think these was one of Microsoft's best shows in the last 2-3 years. Alas, it was still a pretty weak showing. To their credit, not a lot of "only cinematics" trailers were shown this time around. My gripe is dedicating so much time on stuff we already know about, that is not particularly interesting, or that very few people care about. New ESO expansion coming out next week? OK. New Fallout 76 expansion? Who cares. OMG you can fly a helicopter in Microsoft Flight Simulator! Zzzzz. Forza AGAIN like they do in every single show? Wake me up after the trailer. Ark 2. It was only a cinematic like the first trailer and it is supposed to be coming out in the next 12 months. Some Riot partnership to play games people have been able to play for years outside of gamepass? Yawn. It was a very uneven show. In between all these boring announcements, they did show some cool stuff. Redfall looked promising, it was a pretty good way to start the show. An actual release date for Grounded 1.0, good, it's a game people actually liked. OW 2 release date? Awesome. Diablo 4 looked fantastic. Some interesting looking indie games here and there, and some unexpected partnerships (Kojima, Persona). Minecraft Legends looks like it could be cool. An actual release date for Scorn that has been in dev hell for like 10 years? Awesome, let's go. In the end, Microsoft still has a lot to prove in regard to games... they opened with the promise of the "next 12 months of Xbox", but the majority of the interesting titles are slated for 2023, and with NO date set in stone. To me, it just sounds like a hollow promise. If these games really were coming in the next 12 months, they why not cement it with a concrete launch date? I feel they are just leaving it open to potential delays because they probably don't know if they will be able to keep that promise. Also, where is Avowed? Where is Fable? Where is Stalker 2? What in the world is happening with Hellblade 2? Their absence just makes you question how far they actually are in the dev cycle for these games, and potential dev troubles. Like, what the heck. iD software was a no show. Nothing announced for Halo Infinite. Then the star of the show... Starfield. I was pretty underwhelmed with the gameplay section in the beginning, but after they showed the customization and scope of the game it's exciting to think about it if they can actually deliver on that premise. But, it's Bethesda we are talking about here. I can only be cautiously optimistic, and hope Bethesda has learned from previous mistakes. So... yeah, it was only OK.

Man imma be honest as fuck… that shit was trash! I think they’re gonna pull some shit with starfield, games obviously not even close to ready and too many star systems an shit to visit and do what?

Y’all lying to y’all selves saying this was a good show! Redfall made it bad as being a clone to back4blood and starfield made it worse by over selling the game like no man’s sky did! Games gonna release without any of that shit and get patched in later!

I’ll give it a 3 as I’m not seeing nothing 12tflops of nex gen hardware there at all!

I just speed watched it and you know what?

I haven't been really excited for xbox in a while but I kind of feeling that way now. 7/10. Nothing new but they showed off some good shit. If they can clean up Starfield gunplay that's gonna be their next Skyrim in terms of popularity.

It just dragged a little when they were showing a few games that did nothing for me. (Hence the -1 point)

But 13 games in 90 minutes I really want to play, is pretty damn great I would say, that are out in the next 12 months.

& 6 I'll give a chance too, before writing off.

People give others shows 10/10 when they only want to play 2 or 3 games from similar timed shows.

But I genuinely enjoyed the show, loads I want to play, I guess I am fortunate to enjoy lots of different genres.

No idea what they are doing over there at MS game studios. They have so far not convinced me in any way that I need to buy an Xbox, if there was a genuine system seller I would be the first to admit it, we will see with Starfield.

Diablo 4 - good. But that’s multiplat and not a GP game, so not really a big plus for MS even though it was on their show.
If and when the acquisition goes through I expect D4 will hit Game Pass. They only said 2023 so the deal may finalize before release.
The only surprise for me is that Diablo is coming out within 12 months….
I only saw 2023 for D4. I know Sara said this would be mostly games playable in a year but I don’t think it was an all encompassing. Did they say it might be the first half of 2023? Would be great if so.

I’m pretty PlayStation only at this point (though I do own a Series X) and I was pretty pleasantly surprised overall.

Some good stuff but I was looking for more true Xbox only content but I guess those days are behind us.

Cocoon was a huge surprise and I can’t wait. Redfall looked awesome. Benedict Fox looked incredible too.

But are we ever going to see Perfect Dark or Fable? Was hoping for a Gears collection too but that was only a rumor.

I’m not a big Bethesda person and Starfield looks exactly like I’d expect and I know right away it’s not for me.

Pretty solid overall. Being true conference length definitely helps, wish we’d get something this long from Sony. 7/10.

Sometimes, I read Gaf, and I feel like I'm in a different dimension to the rest of the userbase.

The Microsoft conference had a massive amount of stuff, and all of it releasing within 12 months, including Diablo 4, fully unlocked Riot games, the Persona ports that people have been screaming about for years, Starfield, Overwatch 2.. all massive, massive titles.

Then I check this thread - 'lol nogaems 2/10' while people spent this weak in a state of perpetual orgasm over Sony re-releasing The Last Of Us with a $70USD price tag.

It's just fucking bizarre.

For me? 9/10, just because I want something new to play today. Other than that, it was a great presentation that was packed with really good stuff.

They cornered themselves with showing only the games coming in the next 12 months so no Avowed, Fable and Perfect Dark was a letdown

The games and the fact that most of them are coming to Gamepass day one was a plus.

A 7/10 for me.

"And Starfield being as big as it is, it probably means it wasn't all handcrafted. So that's a big negative for me."

Such a dumb reason for it to be a negative, the game literally has thousands of worlds, it cannot all be hand crafted and if you ever thought it would be then it's you that is negative.

A solid 9/10 for me, Diablo 4 looked better than i thought it would and the Forza games look stunning as ever, Starfield though, the more i watch it and realise the potential the game can offer, it makes me super excited!
