tbh all the negative reviews don't bother me lol
this is how all these shows go, people hype them up to be the biggest showing in history, and then get disappointed when it isnt exactly what they want

I think I saw 3 things I'd be interested in playing, my gaming choices seem vastly different than what xbox are doing.

I'm really glad I found my addiction to fromsoftware games as I'd seriously be running low on game's I'd want to play.

Starfield looks great and forza motorsport looks good, I'll also have a few hours on forza horizon 5 dlc hotwheels.

Everything else isn't for me.

Xbox last year with Fable, Starfield, The Outer Worlds 2, Hellblade 2, FH5 - entire show slapped.

Yeah, I thought last years was awesome too but in reality we don't have half of those games to even play or see real gameplay of.

This show, it was front to end gameplay and 90 percent gamepass launching within the next 12 months.

I'll be playing so many games and they looked fucking goooood.

That 95 minute show was 65 minutes too long.

Forza - fine. It’s not breaking new ground for the genre but it looks nice.

Diablo 4 - good. But that’s multiplat and not a GP game, so not really a big plus for MS even though it was on their show.

Starfield - ok looks like a lot of space games and the performance looked rough, but sure it could be good. Oh and again - extended “gameplay” amounted to about 3 minutes with jump cuts and padded out with cutscenes.

And negative points for trotting out Kojima for no reason at all.

Everything else was totally forgettable indie looking stuff - perfect gamepass fodder, not what I want to see in a major gaming company’s marquee event.

This should’ve been 30 minutes max and it would have been a better show as a result.

But, given where MS are this was nowhere near enough. Basically Christmas is empty this year for them and it seems they had no plan before launch of Xsex to actually have any games for the first 3 years at least.

Yeah they’ve bought Bethesda - but that was after Xsex launch - starfield was coming to Xbox regardless of that and it’s still delayed.

The other studios - all MIA. I hope that $1 GP deal can be extended because I feel ripped off that these promised games from MS first parties are nowhere to be seen.
Yep I see no reason to extend my GP subscription with that line up.

A solid 7/10.

Not much in terms of exciting announcements but they showed a bunch of great looking stuff, we finally got a proper look at Starfield and it further promoted the tremendous value of Gamepass.

I also appreciate them focusing on stuff coming in the next year and with tons of gameplay instead of CGI announcements for stuff that's coming in 2025.

Only disappointment for me is Hellblade. It was the first game they announced for the system and it still seems like it's 1+ years away
Hellblade promotions have been rough. But its probably a game awards game like last year. Who knows.

I liked Scorn because it looks like H.R Giger made a video game......apart from that,eh......nothing to excite me.It still doesn't feel like next gen has started properly yet.I was hoping Starfield might do the trick but not with those graphics and a probable 1000 planets of procedural boredum to waste my time with.I don't know.....a 3/10,that sounds fucking harsh but what can I say, there was fuck all there I want to play.

I was really expecting to see Hellblade 2 (announced in 2020) & Avowed at the very least with Starfield, $7.5B really carried the show for them. Forza & Starfield were the only good things to come out of this imo. Starfield alone was a 9/10.

I'd give the showcase overall a B-.

I still need to see an example of a good showcase from people because I've been watching these shows for literally years and if you though that was a bad show you're fucked.
Err… either you are joking or you didn’t even noticed how video editing and placing the order of the games can make a show look good or boring.

It was boring! They had 2 games shown next to each other that looked the same! They had a dev talking about a game only to show it where cars move at normal speed but characters not! I can’t even remember the names that’s how bored I was.

9/10. Very good show. Kept talking to a minimum and just focussed on showing games. That's what I want in presentations.

Regarding games themselves, that's subjective and I don't want to score based on that. Personally, I'm looking forward to Silksong, Plague Tale, Diablo 4 and Persona 5. And having the other games available to try just makes Gamepass such a great value.

9 - Should have been 9 just for Starfield alone looking so damn appealing but the showcase bogged down in a few places. I still gave it a 9 overall since there are a shit ton of games I'm interested in and they are all coming to Game Pass day 1

Looking forward to these games:
Plague Tale
Flintlock
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Pentiment
Replaced
Bendict Fox
Grounded
Atomic Heart
Ravenlok
Plus a bunch I'm probably forgetting all coming Day 1 to Game Pass

Its funny because you can't please everyone. MS(Bond if I recall) started the show saying they're focusing on titles coming out in the next year, a first for them. People complain about MS announcing games too early. They decide to show games releasing in a relatively short window. People still complain. I think MS could have done themselves a favor tempering expectations by saying this earlier, probably back when they announced the event...
This is really worth repeating: this is the first time they've limited themselves to just the next twelve months. I absolutely applaud that and want that to continue. The thing I've hands-down hated most about their previous shows: "Oh cool, [Game]!! Wait, it's just a CGI trailer? When does it release? Seven years from now!?!?".

And you're right, they probably should've stated this change before the show.

Presumably it won't be out in the next 12 months.
If so, that's a damn shame.

Mostly enjoyed the first game, and the visual presentation for Hellbalde 2 looks great, but I need to see more engaging gameplay.
I just hope Ninja Theory aren't experiencing any production woes.

I guess it sucks that nothing interested you.

Was ok... Bunch I wanted to see weren't there. But, also cynical on release dates and schedules so tempering my expectations.

Starfield looked like my childhood fever dream though.

D4 was the only thing I liked. Starfield too, I guess. Car game's got weather. Wow.

Obsidian's weird RPG with the pencil scratching noises while text fills the screen was absolutely, fucking, disgusting for me to think about. What a mind numbing waste.

Late JRPG port begging weeb shit, Kojima getting more attention than he deserves for simply being there. Phil is still playing the game wrong when it comes to Japanese shit. I want more JRPGs. I want new games. Not big hype couple of minute showcases for more extremely late ports of old shit; not even available until the end of the year.

This whole show was fucking retarded. Waiting for another shoe to drop that didn't happen. Xbox "Game Pass" hype for shitty indie games, old ports, and DLC packs.

Got to stretch that hype target to 12 months now too huh? No fucking hope at all for anything big in 2022 I guess. No shadow drop of something big for today, this week, this month.

I am an Xbox-first customer that wanted new JRPGs for more than a decade, and I am still disappointed by everything they do. The only thing new here is that Phil Spencer took his "We hear you" bullshit from every year's news cycle, and put it into their e3 show. It's like "We know you want Japanese stuff... See, we paid Kojima to say a few words!" No, Phil. Fuck you. Go give Itagaki a job and a studio built from the ground up. Go acquire Sega or Capcom. Retire when you're done, I might subscribe to game pass again by then, maybe even buy a console I don't need.

Didn't you feel the show was just to long,

I think they could of made it 45 mins

Almost every Sony showcase over the last 7 years
Absolute bullshit lol, and you know it. Tell me. What years?

Which presentations were start to end bangers?
You didnt ask for start to end bangers, you said show you an example of a good show. Most of Sonys over the last 7 years have been good. This show was meh and not what most would consider a good show.

Wasn't bad, could have been better. Was what it was.

Imo the worst "e3" / "non e3" showcase has to be James Cameron droning on for an hour about Avatar at e3 2009 - so even if people didn't like the show its far from the worst.

Mr Reasonable

Completely Unreasonable
I thought it was a reasonable show, but I think the reality is that game development is a slow process and Microsoft's acquisitions will take a while to start bearing fruit.

Having said that, they showed a really large number of games that everyone should be able to find a few to enjoy.

Shame to not see certain titles, but since the criticism before was that games were being shown too far out, at least these games are all expected in the next 12 months.

Starfield looked to be in a good state, vs what was rumoured and getting confirmation that Kojima is doing something is good news.

Overall, I think it was a bit long and frankly I don't care for a fair number of games that were shown, but presumably some people watching will be into games I don't care for and vice versa.

Not a show for the ages, but no shortage of games before the next show.

I mean, yes, good, it's all coming in a reasonable time... but that reasonable time barely included anything this year, and then so little of it was from Xbox Game Studios companies (who have had games on the record for two years or more which people were expecting updates for) that it sort of diminished excitement even further knowing that we're seeing all the announcements for what to play next year and it still won't include most of those games.

But still, there is a positive way to look at this show. (And I'm with you both, stating that outright would have helped the show. I don't understand why companies are so hesitant to pre-outline their show a bit, just a little bit of framework indication helps set expectations and understanding of what's about to roll on a stream.)

Nope, I thought it was awesome and by far the best of any of the shows we've seen already. The stuff I would have cut out is stuff others probably loved and vice versa what others would have cut out. It's great to have something for everyone.

Hot Take Alert:

This is probably going to be amazing. Looks like they're taking the art style from Nioh, but stepping it up even more and applying it to Chinese lore. And the action looks more acrobatic than Nioh, so possibly closer to Ninja Gaiden. He does a head jump off an enemy like Ninja Gaiden.

If it's even close to what I just described then it's going to way more appealing to me personally than Elden Ring.

I think it could have been 45 minutes long. But also, these game pass deals...why would you go out and secure these deals and not show them to your console fans and game pass subscribers. I want to know about them.
i don't know, i just feel they could have trimmed a lot of the fat away, rather concentrate on quality than quantity.

I get what you're saying, but I was literally falling asleep in some sections of the showcase.

I asked for examples of good shows, start to end. please feel free to send me links of your best examples.

I've watched them all, every year from the big three.

E3 2015 was a watershed moment for three game announcements. That's it. Don't want to derail but feel free to message me.

I am talking about the show overall! I’m including how it was edited how it was paced and what message they were tying to send.

For me only 2 games caught my attention.

The message MS was sending is clear, get gamepass!

I didn’t got surprised so hyping shows, bad. Phil with 7 years on the job still haven’t learn!

Gave it a 7. Starfield wasnt looking that good tbh. Show started good but kinda got worse. Was missing a banger game announcement at the end of the show.

No Gears, no Halo, but some Forza

8/10 for me because of so many Day 1 Gamepass titles (90%?), the new Team Ninja title and the Persona games finally on XBOX

I’ll give it a 3 just because Forza was cool and Persona was announced (though I already have it on PlayStation). Otherwise it was the most boring conference I’ve seen from MS.

4/10. Forza was the only exciting game for me. I fear Starfield release date will be autumn 2023 after seeing the extended look.

decent overall, Too bad MS went to the other extreme by only showing games that will come out in the next 12 month.

If this didn't show you why you may want to try game pass over the next 12 months...nothing will.

I might try for a month, sure. The key point is that I have other gaming options and a finite amount of time to play.
You need to understand what might be appealing to you as someone already bought in on Xbox/Gamepass has a lower bar to reach than for somebody like me who's already invested elsewhere. And please, I don't mean that in a negative sense, I just mean if that you have a situation that you're content with, changing up requires something significantly better on offer to get your attention.

I gave the show 6/10 because I thought it was fine. But the ask for me was do I need to play these games? And there was nothing there that demanded it, for me at least.

No console warring here. Just being totally honest.
