really good video from Matty about it

As much as sometimes he can be a little cringe when talking about insiders/leaks him and Karak have the best most honest xbox podcast. And he was 100% honest about the xbox conference and reiterates my sentiments. I think as a Gamepass subscriber with gaming habits of playing lots of games you should be excited.

As a person who picks and chooses what he puts his time into because life/job. Nothing in there said I need a xbox series x or be excited to xbox first party.

And E3 is superbowl, but we also have gamescom, and Game Awards coming up to maybe show some things. But I doubt they are going to show off fable gameplay at game awards for a deep dive of fable or something.

I'm surprised you lot liked it so much. There was a considerable lack of true gameplay, and the only thing that got my attention was Forza (and I guess Starfield, although it's so far away that I can't really say for certain) -- I was expecting to see some news on Fable or Everwild, or perhaps some interesting new IP in that vein as well.

But hey, you do you. I just hope that Nintendo's conference tomorrow is better than this, as well as whatever little number Sony has planned for later (if they even have one).

I give it a C

Last year was a D. Their usual is a "C". Don't think I've ever rated them a B or above in like 15 years or something.

It was pretty predictable. Lots of no shows. Starfield hardly had anything worthwhile shown. Another Forza game (shocker). And a cross-gen game at that. Halo still looked bad.

One of the better shows Xbox has done.
Been awhile since I wasnt disappointed in MS' E3 offerings. Lots of games im looking forward to.
This was night and day to those dark Kinect years.

Flight Sim is the core centerpiece for me. Nothing even close to that on the competition. Once people learn you can fly literally over your own house, let alone anywhere in the world - its a system seller.
There was a lot of variety despite what im reading in this very thread. FH5 delivered, Replaced was the surprise of E3 so far, Halo MP looked pretty ace, even that Snowboarding game looked great.

Theres a nice stream of releases in the near term - but so much to look forward to in the future too. Starfield will undoubtedly be huge. Then theres all the no shows weve already seen (everwild, forza ms, perfect dark, hellblade, elder scrolls). Its all in the pipe to have a steady stream. This is new for Xbox - and welcome.
Now I just have to find a way to buy a Series X. No luck so far :(

The Sony fanboys are on fire in this thread patting each other on the back. I could predict what im going to read just seeing the familiar avatars. Yall are so lame.

i give it a B, i needed more gameplay or at least gameplay that was mind-blowing. I think this was their best conference in years. Forza Horizon stole the show in my opinion. The game looks incredible.

Halo Infinite was a cinematic. Redfall was a cinematic. Starfield was a cinematic.

Stalker 2 looks fantastic.

On balance, I can't give them higher than a C. I think xBox fans should be salivating at the mouths with rage at the sight of a bushel of cinematics after a year of waiting for some kinda ammunition to take to the console war front line.

How I saw things.

People in here acting like for a horizon isn’t on par with Horizon forbidden west for graphics and next gen ness. Just put horizon in your title and you winning.
forza was fucking insane.

How do you compare Forza Horizon with Horizon Forbidden West?

I'm not trolling BTW its a legitimate question. It's like comparing Halo Infinite to Ratchet and Clank.

Edit: See what I mean?

It really doesn't make any sense.

leads to fear. Fear leads to xbox.
C, nothinf of value for me, lots of CG trailers and no gameplay. Didnt even show halo single player gameplay, Starfield has been in development how long and has leaked screen and you still couldn't show us gameplay?

Only thing that stood out to me was stalker 2

If you say anything other than B/A, you probably don't like videogames.
Nah,

I like different genres of games other than FPS, FPS, FPS, racer, FPS. I know it’s hyperbolic but C’mon!!!!

They deserve a C for the little gameplay they actually showed. Here’s hoping they show some gameplay of anything during the conversation piece they’re having this Thursday.

Its not like every FPS plays the same. Stalker plays nothing like Back 4 Blood, which plays nothing like TOW, which plays nothing like Halo. It just means its a shooter and its camera is in first person.

just bI was expecting a comparison with GT7 to be honest since they are both racers. But to something like Forbidden West?

I don't understand how that works.
If you think Forza Horizon is comparable to GT7 just because they're racing games, i don't think you've ever played a Forza Horizon. GT is comparable to Forza Motorspots, Sony doesn't have anything comparable to the Horizon series right now, really.

Well you can compare some things like the car models. At least it would be a closer comparison than Forza Horizon and Horizon Forbidden West.

Regardless of how they play, I meant it literally.

First Person Shooter.

They could do without so many of them. I hope that Starfield and Indiana Jones don’t end up being FPS games either.

Thank the lord for Hellblade 2 though!

A- to a B+

Their best conference in years with an overwhelming amount of of great games, including one that just took the crown for best graphics ever on a console in Horizon 5.

I agree, but i think the point that the guy was trying to make was this: both Forza Horizon 5 and HFW can be considered killer apps that could influence someone's decision to buy either console (i would choose FH5, speaking for myself)

Dude, its almost like those memes comparing playstation's games just because they're third person (the majority)

And if you ever played a BGS game, you know Starfield has high chanches of being first person. Everyone knows that Fallout and TES are first person, at least everyone that has played a BGS game and has reasons to be hyped for Starfield should know that.

The only things that interested me were Battlefield, Stalker and Eiyuden. Two of those are not exclusive to Xbox platforms.

I'm biased since I'm not a MS guy to begin with, but I would think that there's a sizeable amount of fans that would've liked to see some singleplayer from Halo.... nothing. In fact, that was a large gaping hole in that conference. Where was the gameplay for the tentpole games?

Even the last reveal was so disappointing. Arkane can make fun games like Dishonored but what we got is some pointless overdrawn CG cutscene for a lame-looking co-op thing.

I'll go with a B-.

There is a lot to play in the next months. Stalker 2 looks amazing.
Missed Everwild and Perfect Dark. Psychonauts 2 is possibly GOTY though.

Not a lot of surprises, but good pacing and for Gamepass owners the value just keeps growing.

Seems like he was talking about graphics which is why I found the comparison strange.

I gave it a B since they didn't show Perfect Dark, HB2 or Fable.
If they would've shown at least 1 of those I probably give it an A.

Then you can compare the graphics of the terrain.

I like Halo, and what they had shown in next year's footage in terms of gameplay was already satisfying for me. In fact, even the graphics were good enough, in my honest opinion. People took that Craig screenshot and ran with it, but it always seemed ok graphics for me, for a screenshot taken from a trailer in gameplay and in the middle of a fight, it was nothing bad.

Well, its known Arcane always wanted to make co-op games. And you can play Redfall alone, in fact, Phil said so while introducing the game.

I thought is was a good show. Im still only interested in Forza Horizons and Flight sim though.

Failed to get me interested in all but 2 games, one of which was extremely obvious and the other was announced coming to Xbox like a year a ago. Grading: Very above average. Yea makes sense lol. Microsoft graded at a handicap

Money talks. No need to be salty that you can't enjoy countless games on the cheap. I don't have to worry about setting money aside for Dark Alliance this month or The Ascent next month? Fucking awesome. Why wouldn't that make the score better?
And while I have to spend more money I get games I can fall in love with and show the gaming industry at its best. Ratchet and clank may be 70 bucks but that’s 70 Xbox owners can’t spend to play such a ludicrously fun and stunning game.

These ratings are inherently biased. It's like every year when people would say that Sega or MS won E3, but then the console would go on to get murdered by Sony. It's really about which console you like more. If it's Xbox, then you'll generally enjoy the Xbox conference, because you're familiar with the games, and have your expectations set based on that. If it's PS, then you'll enjoy the PS shows.

Very very few people give ratings based on a neutral stance. Everyone is biased to a certain degree. It's why I choose not to rate the show. I don't plan on buying an Xbox. I don't like FPS for one, so there goes a bunch of popular games that people will have used to rate the show highly. I have my opinions on how certain things looked and performed technically, but it's not worth sharing, as I'm probably biased in that regard as well.

I think Somerville, Starfield, Replaced, Shredders, and Forza Horizon all looked cool. If I had an Xbox, those would be at the top of my watch list. I see a number of Xbox fans are quite happy with the conference, and that's all that really matters. Please the people who play your games, and you will always have a loyal fanbase. I don't know if this forum is a good indicator of anything, so I don't know how the general public will receive the presentation. Most gamers don't really follow gaming news, so all this discussion and debate is probably pretty meaningless anyway.

Giving it a B.

I enjoyed it. Showed a lot of games. Some I'm interested in. But nothing that blew me away Nextgen wise.

Oh and no Fable. Where is it?

Gave them a C and only because halo looked better everything else literally had me falling asleep in my chair. Anyone that thought Bethesda titles would be showing up elsewhere can finally put that silly notion to bed. Also their messaging was pretty horrible. "We bought Bethesda so more people could play their games." Yea sounds about right. Too many cg trailers not enough game play. Excited for Halo and star field curious about red fall. Everything else 😴

I bought Returnal since my PS5 was collecting dust after Ghost of Tshushima and Demon's Souls late last year. I regret it. It was fun but should have been $40. Ratchet is a cartoon and I couldn't care less about it. I support Sony and MS. I bought 3 years of Gold to get GP Ultimate for that long. I also bought the classic Dark Alliance on Xbox so I'm still spending plenty. MS has an awesome strategy. GP ensures I spend more time on my XSX and in turn by more games in their ecosystem. Especially since I can ensure that I'll be able to play all of my games on their next system without needing to get PS Plus to have cloud saves.

I thought it was a good show and the games looked great. But I dont like all games.

Defiantly one of MS's better showings the last 5 years.

Meanwhile I got 35 hours in returnal and consider it an amazing new ip and ratchet and clank is one of the highest quality games released since this gen came out, if not the highest quality

I gave it a C.
  • Forza Horizon 5 looks really good graphically and I'm sure will be a great game overall, but I also think they will ruin the progression again. Also Mexico is boring as hell for a racing location.
  • STALKER 2 looks decent, but the way they presented it was horrible.
  • Starfield had a trailer that told us nothing about actual gameplay and that release date is a fail. TES6 for sure isn't releasing before 2026 now.
  • Back 4 Blood could be fun, but I'm not too big on this type of co-op game. Multiplatform so no bonus points for MS.
  • 12 Minutes has been on my radar for awhile and looks cool. Will definitely grab this one.
  • Psychonauts 2 is a game that I don't give a shit about at all.
  • Diablo and other loot hack n slash games are dreadfully boring for me.
  • Age of Empires IV looks fun and I really enjoy the series. Hoping it turns out great.
  • Replaced is interesting, but still not sure about it yet.
  • Halo MP looked like Halo MP, but I was hoping for campaign gameplay and they showed none. Also "Epic Campaign"...really?
  • No Avowed or Fable was hugely disappointing.
  • That Redfall vampire game was a terrible ending.
  • Flight Sim looks great, but not my type of game.
  • Battlefield 2042 MP looks like blast, but again will be getting on PS5.
  • Everything else I've forgotten about and because it either wasn't impressive, or I didn't care about it.
I was really hoping to have some amazing announcements or showing, but I really didn't get anything like that beyond what I was already interested in. Will probably hold off on a Series X longer than I was planning.

If you don’t like First Person Shooters or Racing games was there any new next gen games announced of worth? I would give it a C, predictable diversity points (the masculine looking black female shouting at the start of halo was a nice touch as was the Spanish? accent sounding voice over during the 'in-engine' floaty cinematic thing).

I could've sworn I saw multiplayer gameplay for Halo... Only Cinematics i rembered was Starfield and Redfall (which will probably have gameplay before their launch next year and makes sense)
17 seconds in the Halo trailer begins nothing but gameplay, yes there are cinematic cuts but that's gameplay.
