Kingdom Hearts III Review Thread

The thing is, this games not at all type of game you can just jump in latest series like FF or Persona. You need knowledge of what happened in pervious games.

If you need to comprehend the story, nobody better play this game - including the lead writers.

As convoluted as the story is, its really not "confusing" to understand if you played the games. I personally find story very fun entertaining even tho it can be cheesy and convoluted.

Great Reviews, seems to be a real treat for all the fans and newcomers. I wish everyone playing a great time with the game.

Nice to see it scoring well. It unfortunately is releasing the same day as RE2 so I'm not picking it up for a little while. But it sounds like it's gonna be good when I do.

HA! Or not including that pink haired SJW from The Last Jedi.

I still think this game should be rated higher than RE2, but I'll take it. 88 Meta is worth the 10 year wait.
I'm looking forward to both but unlike RE2Remake, KH3 is not exactly newcomer friendly, so it makes sense KH is not going to have higher score than RE.

I don't see the correlation. KH3 was a franchise that's spanned over 15 years, though, so I'm not saying you don't have a point. Either way, it doesn't matter. Both have been rated amazingly and fans of both games should be happy.

Thats all the reviews for now. Many outlets haven't received their review copy yet and some got it but late.

So, it is safe to say Nomura is not a waste of space that deserves to be fired? Five year dev time for a well recieved aaa game seems like a job well done.

Thought the score would be lower due to the story. This is great! The new gameplay 101 trailer looked good too.

Hey OP! Can you please add metacritic and opencritic links in the first post?

Hell, if it wasn't for the engine change we probably would have seen this release last year or the year before.

No more than Toriyama. I've liked most SQEX games.

They should try to make them a little faster though.

So Nomura >>>>>> Tabata confirmed again.
They have different skills. Tabata seems like a great assistant director or producer. He seems good at managing large groups of people and keeping them on task for a long term project. He's good at communicating to press and fans also. That is a skillset. But he doesn't seem like an auteur director or an amazing artist generally.

I noticed none of the reviews talks about framerate.
It's UE4 I expect locked 30 fps on base consoles and 45-50 fps on the x and pro. Hope there is an option to raise the resolution and cap the frame rate on higher end console ..........or port it to PC.

...he wrote an article to say he made a video?

Also, not watching the video. I want to read the impressions. No time for that shit.

Edit: I don't know this guy, but by reading the article he comes out as smug and unsufferable.

Agree with you.

This article is the dumbest take ever.

This. Please. It'll probably run fine on X, but I'm positive the pro version is going to dip and be noticeable. I played the demo at NYCC and specifically played the ps4 version to see the framerrate, and it gets pretty bad when there's a lot of particle effects. Specifically the part with Titan and sora is on the disney train ride thing shooting titan. Oooof. I'm hoping that was only base PS4 and square will surprise us with the pro version but i'm not holding my breath.

The lack of a PC port is really odd considering the PC version of DQXI launched alongside the console version and every other major SE game has been released on steam lately with the exception of Dragon Quest Builders. Starting to think SE is going to expand it's own launcher for PC and leave steam moving forward.

I mean they technically already have a launcher for FFXIV so I don't think it's that far fetched.

All these great reviews makes me wanna buy it. I don´t remember jack shit from KH1 and 2, it´s like 13 years ago I played them but who cares, this game looks like a lot of fun to play. Is Haley Joel Osment back as Sora or did he get the boot?

I hope that doesn't happen, I am tired of these launchers I have 5 already.

All the main characters are back. But from what I heard most of the voices in the Pixar worlds are different. So no Tom Hanks or Tim Allen for Toy Story and no Johnny Depp for Jack.

Pretty great scores.
I'm not really into this franchise but I'll have to check out this game at some point in the future

Fuck...this means Nomura will gain even more influence inside Square

Nomura is a good director. He just needs to stop being shuffled to other projects and have someone keep him on track.

He seems to put a lot of effort into his projects and he makes pretty great action RPG combat systems, I'll give him that.
But I can't say I'm a fan of his work. Outside of the combat I don't really like the Kingdom Hearts games (empty worlds with a very "gamey" level design and several boring ass moments like the whole intro of 2). Mainly though it's that everything he directs has abysmal writing even for videogame standards, if David Cage is a Hollywood reject then Nomura seems like a Shonen jump reject.

It's obviously down to taste and preferences but personally I need to feel at least a bit invested in the story to enjoy these lengthy and cutscene heavy games and if Nomura is involved that's out of the question. It's the main reason I have zero hype for the VII remake, even if combat and graphics are going to be better you just need to watch Advent Children to know he is going to murder the plot.

But that's just me, nothing wrong with enjoying his stuff. At least he seems to take long to finish each game so there's plenty of games left for other people to direct

loved Tim Rogers's review for Kotaku. it was very positive & almost more about the atmosphere around the games more than the games themselves. which is IMO a very good thing to do.

the game looks really pretty.
