GT is a track-focused game. You will not be driving a LaFerrari through the tropical jungle. Most of that shit from aerial shots won't even be visible from the standard camera perspective. Rendering Far Cry-quality landscapes behind a wall of trees (or just a long way from the track) is a waste of resources. Instead, we get a decent physics model, ray-traced reflections, good performance, maybe a 120fps option for VR in the future.
I don't see any obstacles for ps5 to display more nice trees and pebbles at 30fps but that's not what i expect from a Gran Turismo game.
I can understand some regrets about the cross-gen issue, but let's be honest: it wouldn't change THAT much.
Maybe you would have more ammo in your console wars, but aside from that, you can see that Polyphony is trying to get back to the roots. And that's a hell of a improvement already.
