Pro-AMD...even though HU's reviews of the 30xx cards are pretty glowing? It's not like they don't cover RT at all, they just don't focus on it. To be clear I'd describe myself as a bit of an NVIDIA fanboy...and I don't give a shit about RT performance. I want to know how NVIDIA's product stack fares in rasterization so I can make an informed purchase. At this stage RT still doesn't have all that much support and I still see is as just being a nice bonus, rather than a main selling point. That’s how you create bubbles. You’ll get pro-AMD reviewers and pro-Nvidia reviewers over time.
Two of the biggest games today, WoW Shadowlands and Cyberpunk 277 have ray-tracing graphics.Don't confuse me with Ascend
They didn't concentrate on RT and DLSS because 99% of GAMES, not Gamers don't use it.

You cherry pick your data points. This is me cherry picking mine.
Yet, your solution is to ignore functionality. And mine is to benchmark it and let people decide for themselves. Which is the most reasonable stance here?
Gamers nexus actually puts effort into benchmarking ray-tracing.
The most reasonable stance is to focus on rasterization, whilst also doing some RTX benchmarking for those who are into that, that way both the pro-skub and anti-skub lobbies are covered and everyone can make an informed purchase...except...wait...that's what Hardware Unboxed did and that's apparently biased towards AMD and NVIDIA didn't like it.Yet, your solution is to ignore functionality. They didn't ignore functionality. They included RT and DLSS games in their review. They stated Nvidia is leagues ahead and AMD has no answer. They stated again and again IF YOU VALUE RT GO WITH NVIDIA.
It's like you didn't watch any videos.
Let me break it down for you. Since you couldn't be bothered.
HU's stance.
If you value RT/DLSS - 3080.
If you do not 3080 or 6800xt (fear in future 3080 may be RAM limited)
Next section below.
If you value RT/DLSS - 3070
If not 6800 if you can afford the $50.
So you see how they recommend Nvidia.....it's crazy right?
Fanboys are the fucking worst.
Edit: Also at caring about RT in WoW, or Fortnite. Minecraft looks cool though.
In the 6800 XT review Hardware Unboxed Steve says: “though I personally I care very little for ray-tracing support right now as there are almost no games where I feel it’s worth enabling. That being the case I haven’t invested too much time in testing ray-tracing performance and perhaps this is something we’ll explore more in future content.”The most reasonable stance is to focus on rasterization, whilst also doing some RTX benchmarking for those who are into that, that way both the pro-skub and anti-skub lobbies are covered and everyone can make an informed purchase...except...wait...that's what Hardware Unboxed did and that's apparently biased towards AMD and NVIDIA didn't like it.

Because Nvidia is dictating terms means nobody can be unbiased. Also, it's not like HU didn't cover RT and DLSS, they've covered it multiple times. It just want their main section because again 99% of games currently don't have it.
That article is over a year old.I guess this didn't age well..

People are already complaining that they are AMD biased while they aren't.... That is only going to get worse if AMD freely supplies cards to them and nVidia doesn't.This is actually better for the channel, is it not?
Now people won't complain aboutbeing biased, at least in favor of Nvidia, as they now will pay for what they test.

Anyone that says HU is biased towards AMD is an nVidia fanboy, whether they know it or not.
Day one coverage for FE cards without any AIB cards will sting a bit, but they can afford to buy the cards they need, tbh.If Nvidia doesn't supply them they will become irrelevant.
No they won't. I bet AIBs will still supply them with nVidia cards. And even then, some people are willing to wait on their reviews even if they come later. If Nvidia doesn't supply them they will become irrelevant.
Did you bother to watch a single 30xx review or were you too busy quote mining? Just because he hasn't invested a ton of time into testing it doesn't mean he never has, nor that it didn't appear in the reviews...like...oh...say...this one? Oh, and look! He even tested it on the RX 6800! And note that the patch that actually enables RT on AMD GPUs for Watch Dogs Legion came out just yesterday, meaning these results are likely bogus for AMD in one way or another.Did you bother to watch a single 30xx review or were you too busy quote mining? Speak for yourself. If I'm going to render games at a different resolution to my screen it's going to be higher than native, not lower. I have zero interest in DLSS. He also states why clearly; apples to apples. When benchmarking hardware you change only that hardware. You don't use DLSS for the same reason that you don't run one card at 4K and one at 1080p, or have one system use a Celeron and the other Threadripper.6 out of the 18 games he tests support dlss which every 2000-3000 user will use

No. They are just refusing to give a review outlet a review sample of their hardware because that outlet did not test one of it's biggest features. Why should Nvidia pay for them to review part of their product? It's not censorship, it is deciding not to waste resources on an outlet that is ignoring the feature you are trying to sell.I don’t agree with HU’s decision to ignore ray tracing but I sure as heck think Nvidia is in the wrong here. They’re dictating what reviewers do? Get bent. They’re not under any obligation to give HU a review product but the idea of “should your editorial decision change” is terrible.
Like I said, if I'm going to run a game at a different resolution to native it's going to be higher. 1440p DLSS might perform better, but up against 2880p -> 1440p supersampling it's going to get utterly destroyed in the IQ department. For starters running 4X supersampling completely negates the vaseline of TAA and utterly obliterates shimmer (which I can still see quite clearly in the DLSS footage). Not to mention you're not going to get the artifacts of something like DLSS, which do still exist, even if they are better than they used to be. Now sure...you might think that's a tad overkill...but when it comes to getting the cleanest possible visuals out of a game there's nothing quite like it...and I'd happily trade RT and turn down other settings for it any day too. This idea that everyone is going to be using DLSS is just false. I cannot stand upscaling artifacts. I can't even stand running games at native any more. I supersample everything.Go watch this video and tell me if you think dlss is still useless.
Or create an only fans for the simps.Good. If you want free gpus go to twitch and show your tits.

Anyone watching Linus rant like a loon about how evil Nvidia is right now?
I mean, it's a bit ridiculous.
You mean where he becomes hitler with a little mustache and rides a zeppelin?
Right. I mean, I get where he's coming from, but he's acting like this is some assault on the free press (he said as much), and I don't see it that way. Is Nvidia being slimy? Sure. But they always have been, and they don't have to send people their product for reviews, period.
Yep it’s all performative. Its lip service to get in good grace with the fanboys that sit on these channels for drama. At the end of the day linus will take that free gpu any day from nvidia and eats its pride every day of the week when the new gpu comes out.
Instead of raging like a retard, he should actually be critical about hardware unboxed and actually make them improve. But hardware unboxed at this point already probably burned any bridge with nvidia they had left so they are fucked anyway.
HU is blamed not for not having RT, but for NOT FOCUSING ON IT.
You can tell the ones who got a 6xxx card instead of a 30xx card in this thread. The same ones who first pump rasterization in 1080p without RT. And support benchmarks without RT. It's pretty obvious at this point. I just wonder how this would be taken by these same folks, if roles were reversed. That's my point. If I, as a manufacturer/developer/whatever am specifically pushing a feature, and if I lay out expectations for reviewers and they DON'T deliver... why should I give them hardware, or anything?
Playing devil's advocate here obviously but Its funny to see ppl screaming at nvidia for being anti-competitive or whatever but its a really a fucking BASIC PREMISE.
If you want the freedom to review AS YOU PLEASE and to focus on whatever you personally choose, that is your choice... but it is my choice as a hardware manufacturer to NOT give you FREE HARDWARE because there is no benefit to ME. You are perfectly free to obtain said hardware yourself, and review it completely free of any/all restrictions. If I try to silence you under those grounds then ok, I'd be totally in the wrong.
But goddamn, crying like a little bitch because I don't give you free shit FOR NOTHING IN RETURN is nothing short of being an entitled little REEEEEEEEEEra mentally ill faggotma'am that expects the world to hand them supreme rulership for free.
Its called GIVE AND TAKE also known as a professional business relationship... If you do not give, do not expect to take! How fucking hard is that to understand? FFS I swear the entitlement...
Biased reviews etc...
It’s almost like there’s hundreds maybe thousands of people working at Nvidia and sometimes they work toward a common goal that are sometimes pursued in different ways.
This Twitter gotcha is unprofessional and childish. Hardware Unboxed continues to trash their own reputation.
An interesting part Linus read from the email they sent:
"It's clear from your community commentary that you do not see things the same way that we, gamers, and the rest of the industry do."
Honestly the guy is straight up just self destructing atm.
It looks like the opposite is happening:
