Forza Motorsport |OT| Step on the GaaS

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Is there no way to disable the “practice” before a race?

If not, I’m done with it and will go back to GT7.

Can't disable outright, but once you start practice, you can quit out of it immediately and go to the main race.

That groveL isn't actually bad. It also has a hidden bonus that most people would miss, it's actually rear wheel drive which means the tyres don't get worn out as fast as they do for the front wheel drive cars.

I can post tune settings if anyone is interested.
Yeah man, post the tune. I'm getting kinda bored of the Audi, might wanna try out the Subie. If it can beat the pay to win Golf that would be great.

Just completed a rather lengthy survey MS have sent out regarding user experience with Forza Motorsport.

I wasn't kind. I'm not gonna lie.

I actually reinstalled this shit since I read that they fixed the progression bug in featured cup
Did the 4th race in track exotics at maple valley it got loading stuck on 5th race , had to hard quit the game
Came back and had to do maple valley again.
Did the 4th and 5th race and finished series and did 1 race on next prototype power series .
Came back after a few hours and just saw that I'm back at 4th race of last series.
Absolutely disgusting and inexcusable for a AAA game launched in 2023 .
If Ur going to fix basic progression in November maybe fucking release this buggy mess in November.

Only speaking Series X here, but the more I play the more I realise the reviews of this are a travesty. I spent the whole morning on Rivals, and it was amazing. I’m seriously thinking about getting a wheel and chair setup. I’ve played previous Motorsports, but none have ever grabbed me like this one. I’ve always been more into Horizon…

I’m a convert for sure. Bought the premium add ons bundle just now. Not seen any bugs twenty hours in.

While I think the game is "good", it's so far from being what I expected from T10 that I legitimately think a lot of people should be fired over the state of this release, potentially disbanding T10 and trying again with another studio. There's no way T10 was all hands-on deck for six years to produce this mess. Clearly leadership there has become everyone's friend, and everyone gets away with anything now. This game is the result of people fucking the dog for years and not being able to pull it together at the end. I know I'd be fired if I put out something like this where I work, if not outright murdered.

New track and more fixes coming in the next update

Tracks I want on the game: Monza, Mount Panorama, Brands Hatch, Interlagos and Prague. I hope they bring these 5.

Looking for racing wheel recommendations. Seriously considering one.

1) My cap is probably $200
2) I don't want 3 foot pedals, just 2.

Do you guys think they're worth it? I would just be using it for Forza H 4, 5 and Forza M. Do they feel decently real? Do they have resistance on the pedals and wheel at all?

What I really like to see - as someone who is totally addicted to the Rivals mode - is car specific leaderboards.

Now they are by class only, like it's always been I guess. But I want to know how I compare to others in a specific car for instance I'm still playing the E class cars and level up every car to it's max PI E300 (almost done and than I start with the D class cars etc.), than I do the same with the next car rinse and repeat. Let's say I do the VW Golf MK2, you have the overall leaderboards for a track, but I would like a leaderboard only containing the Golf MK2.

It would add extra motivation to also do races in cars that aren't very competitive on some tracks I think and isn't that difficult to implement.

I don't think in the last couple of years Ive played a game where basic things as simple as saving progress in singleplayer doesn't work after 1 month of launch.
And then these stupid companies wonder where did the player base.
Any race I do in builders cup or features series my progress doesn't get saved.

I had the same thing tonight, on console. First the sound from game cut out mid-practise but I finished, and restarted game. The practise laps had not saved. Did the practise again, and the following race. Chose to auto-upgrade performance before going to next race, and it got stuck looping while saving upgrades. Homed out and restarted, and whole session gone again. Back to the practise laps before the previous race.

Its finally clicking for me. This is my first sim racer and I'm way more into this than Horizon. None of the cheesy dialogue. More into tracks than open world.

I finally am getting what you guys talk about about feeling the tires on the road when accelerating and braking.

Really, really enjoying the game. I just play a race or two every 2 days so this will last me a long time.

I've played all three versions since your progression is shared but most Series X on Performance RT and it's pretty stunning, you're right the Rivals mode as I said previously is a very addictive game loop especially how the segments are timed.

While we continue to work on improvements and updates to Forza Motorsport, here’s a preview of what’s coming in Update 2 next month.

Since the release of Forza Motorsport and Update 1 6, we’ve been working on additional fixes and improvements to the game based on the top reported issues in the community. We understand how frustrating these are, especially when they may hinder your full enjoyment of the game, and we intend to resolve them as soon as possible.

We are committed to supporting Forza Motorsport in the long term by delivering monthly content updates 28 and quality-of-life improvements. Update 2 is our first content update for the game and it’s coming mid-November, introducing an additional track location, Yas Marina. We also have over 200 fixes lined up for this release, including improvements for these highly reported issues:

Stability

  • Many fixes to improve overall game stability and reduce crashes across all platforms.
Livery Editor

  • Fixed issue where players can view and unlock tunes and vinyls shared by other players.
  • Fixed issue causing black paint shade to show up as grey instead of black.
  • Fixed issue where only the inner barrel on factory rims is paintable.
PC

  • Fixed issue requiring shaders to recompile every time Forza Motorsport is started on AMD chipsets.
  • Fixed specific game crash that occurs if headphones are plugged into the front panel.
Note – PC players using AMD 7900 XTX who encounter a crash at the end of races should download the latest AMD graphics driver to resolve this issue 16.

Multiplayer

  • Fixes to matchmaking as a group, party management, and invites and joins across multiplayer.
  • Fixes to ensure custom liveries show up more consistently across multiplayer game modes.
  • Fixes to address cases where Intermission/Launch Countdown would take much longer than expected before the start of multiplayer races.
  • Fixes to automatic wet tire selection when entering an event, and fixes to fuel estimation logic.
  • Fixes to title stability when resuming from a suspended state on console.
Gameplay

  • Resolved an exploit related to changing car tune mid-race.
  • Fixed issue where the game becomes stuck in the “new content update” loop when entering the main menu.
  • Fixes to Replays in scenarios where Replays do not start playing, the cars do not move, or they float.
  • Fixed issue with a forced camera change at the start of a race.
Cars

  • Fixed issue with the 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS Sport Roll Cage visual upgrade option, which removes the roof of the car when viewed in first-person.
Wheels

  • Fixed issue that prevented the Thrustmaster T248 LED screen from displaying race position information.
Stability is an area that we’ll continue to work on beyond Update 2 with additional improvements coming to Forza Motorsport in future updates.

We’re aware that the infinite loading screen when saving a Quick Upgrade in the Builders Cup still occurs for some players after the Update 1.1 hotfix 4. We’re investigating this issue very carefully, and with the additional information that we have received from the community, we believe we have identified the root cause. We hope to better resolve this issue soon.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work to resolve these issues. Please continue sharing your bug reports with us on the Troubleshooting Hub 12. Including details such as reproduction steps can help us to identify and resolve issues more quickly. Continuing to submit your game content suggestions in the Suggestion Hub will help shape our future content updates 8.

We will share more details about the new content additions in Update 2, as well as the full list of fixes and improvements, closer to its release in November, and we’ll let you know once those changes begin to roll out."

Good news they seem to be getting patches out pretty quickly. I've been doing some comparisons with FM7 and the leap in realism is quite something when you play them back to back. Weather, day cycle, tyre wear, physics and the look of the game with the gamey colourful look of FM7 replaced with a realistic tone.
It's a far bigger gap than at first glance and FM7 on One X was one of the best looking games of last gen.

Exactly the feel is something you obviously have to experience yourself, they have absolutely nailed it. No comparison video can obviously show this it's just by far and away the best console racer ever.

I can't say if it's the best ever since it is literally my first sim racer, but I'm absolutely loving it. Reading about Starfield and Forza on this forum made me realize how many PC gamers are here. On console I literally haven't ever had a single bug on Forza, no issues whatsoever. Game is super polished, and it's been a great deal of fun having a whole new genre click for me.

Took me a few weeks to fully get out of my arcade racer habits of just hitting the left and right triggers all the way down all the time. Finally, eventually realized you have to literally treat them in your imagination like they are car pedals and it actually works better. You can just tap the gas if you're flying through a curve and go faster than flooring it and spinning out your tires.

I'm going to go back to Horizon eventually and see if I am better at those games now. But I vastly prefer the vibes in this game. I don't need to wander an open world. I don't need anyone to talk to to me with party dialogue. I don't need a million cars and actually like being forced to stick to one car for a while.

Is anyone losing more progress since the last patch (upon getting the spinning wheel animation)? I was losing "only" the last race prior to the patch and I would say it was managable to repeat 10 minutes of racing (although still an unacceptable state for a released game). On the current version I've lost all 5 races from the featured series and today the last 3 races from the super sedan series. It makes the career mode unplayable since you don't know when the game has stopped saving the progress.

I really REALLY hope this isn't the path Microsoft take cause they're in a rush to release games on Game Pass. I've never had an issue with this progression bug after updating my car like I have here. Seriously, how could you release a game in this state knowing these issues are so prevalent? It is not common for this dev to do it and I'm quite pissed that it is stopping me from playing this game as it actually controls and plays really well when it allows me to play and progress!

I saw this a couple days ago and UNLESS they mean download the driver AFTER the next update, this (in my case) does NOT fix the after race crashes.

I don't know who to blame. Either Turn 10 for releasing a broken mess, AMD for not making good drivers for this game, or ME for not waiting a couple days before deciding to buy! lol

The worst thing is that the game doesn't inform you about the progression problem. Other online games stop your game to post the error message and have you retry or go offline (if possible). Here - nothing. You find out how much you've lost only after restarting the game.

Yeah this game is a waste of time, I'm glad that I have gamepass because I used to buy the 100$ premium editions for previous forzas, but now I only spent 10 bucks. Somehow they used to make solid polished games in 2 years and now Papa P. Spencer gave them 6 years and basic functionality doesn't work.

Campaign mode won't save ANY progression for me now.
Unplayable
Microsoft, this is your No 1 driving franchise....6 yrs to develop.

Unacceptable in ANYONES book!!!!!
Got a fix for this stupid shit
Don't change fuel or tires at race start and when the race starts go to photo mode if it saves a photo it will save Ur progress .
I know it's stupid but it works 100 percent of the time , fucking ridiculous we have to do this to save progress in a game released in 2023

Seems like a nice update. New track and career events is all I need. I've still never had a single bug on XSX personally.

I have had the odd bug on PC but fortunately none of the major ones - only had to compile shaders once even with an AMD GPU, and never got the career progression one either.

I wouldn't bother with a non-force feedback wheel, and the second is so close in price to the G920 that I can't imagine it isn't worth the upgrade.
It's times like these I'm utterly gutted I sold my G290 and stick shift for £100.

Glad I kept the stand though. That was like rocking horse turd to get hold of.

Can't wait to try this patch.

This game is pure garbage performance is all over the place on a freaking 7950x3d and 4090 worst port of the year for me

Update is quite meh. Fixes a few little things but nothing major (as to be expected).

Now, when you go to paint a car and select just simple "black," it's actually black and not grey.

But DLSS setting reverting to AMD FSR is still apparent. Zero stealth graphics or performance improvements.

The Thrustmaster TMX is a force-feedback wheel. I have it. It is not the best one out there, but it is a good entry level force feedback wheel for those on a budget.
