I guess what I don't really understand about one or two cars just running off and leaving me is like this last race

After 2 laps me and 2 AI break from the pack and I paced with them for about a full lap then the last 2 laps they were just gone

Look at end race break down and while my last few laps were really great times my fastest lap was even faster than the first place car but I lost to him by over 8 full seconds

So I've bought every single car after earning enough credits with the Le Mans trick someone posted earlier (thanks for that!). Took me nearly a whole morning and afternoon, but you know, it was worth it.

Finished only the second series in career, spent more time in multiplayer which is really good but takes too much time to finish one race with the practice and qualifying before a race so I hope they tweak that a little so you can enter a MP race faster. But what I like playing the most is Rivals mode, the new mechanic where automatically the next rival is picked from the leaderboard once you beat a rival is addicting as hell. I like to level up every car in a class to a level where the car can be upgraded to the max level in it's class. I'm halfway through the E-class cars, but with the new patch unlocking stuff will be faster.

Playing on XSX I have experienced a couple of return to the Xbox dashboard crashes when buying automobiles when pressing the shoulder button to skip brands fast. I also once had the infamous doing a quick upgrade after the race that the game gets stuck and you have to quit out and when restarting the game again you lose the last race progress you had, so I made sure to only upgrade at the start of the new race, but than I never experienced that bug again. I love how the driving feels, graphics to me are great, sound is such an improvement too. The whole dynamic weather day cycle is awesome, I hope they'll add endurance races soon will make it interesting having to pit too.

FM will act as a platform where new tracks, automobiles and new series will be added over time which will keep the game interesting to play. The way Xbox is handling these type of GaaS games is superb as we have seen with Forza Horizon 4/5, Sea of Thieves, Halo Infinite and State of Decay II etc. They're all much better games now then when they released so I don't question that FM will be the same.

Rivals is a really great way to learn the tracks, turn off all visual assists and just have Traction Control on, 10 laps of rivals and you should learn (mostly) how to drive the tracks properly without relying on A)Rewind and B) Markers.

For extra immersion turn off mirror and go bonnet view, best looking view imo.

Then added to that the proximity markers are a handy thing to turn on ;)

These steps will have you competing online in no time!

Oh and if your still reading here's a pro tip for qualifying, turn on Track limit markers for qualifying to ensure a clean lap! The game prioritises a clean lap even if slower than a dirty lap! (This is even with no penalties given, game still knows you went off track somewhere)

is the single player as frustrating as F7?

the homologation rules made races/tournaments so restricted. also did they bring back the events lists from previous forzas?

you know? just a bunch of tournaments with basic rules/requirements

800pp AWD
800pp FR
only A class
only B class

I missed that so much from F7. it was such a disappointing experience and this is coming from someone who has owned all the forzas (I miss that junkie JXL OST)

It's not frustrating like FM7 was, it's just kind of....meh. The loop gets tiresome a lot quicker than they most likely hoped lol

The whole "grow attached to your car" thing doesn't work well because after 5 races you're forced into a new car in a new tournament with very specific and strict rules.

Just deleted the game ,it's just not ready for release had 2 progress loses in featured series and now the 3rd builder cup after 4 races yesterday whenever I try to load it it says remote data not available.
Fuck this shit in 2023 this is unacceptable
Bought series X on launch day for this shit
Yes the bugs are built from the ground up.

Only pulling your leg Jibran, hope they fix the state of this thing. They really should have delayed it more to get a better release out.

Wow, now I can not only lose progress when applying a tune, but also when buying a new car and getting the spinning animation. They're trying their best to keep me away from playing it.

Not a single bug found yet on Series X for me
Lucky. I've had texture issues, reflection issues, replay issues, crashes, freezes.

I haven't lost progress. Yet.

Sometimes I feel like I'm playing the series s version because it looks like shit. I look at all these other videos and screenshots and wonder why my Series X doesn't look like that. Strange.

Haha I know right the first night it released fell in love with its driving 0 bugs
The bugs I faced was inexcusable in a game released in 2023 but I'm pretty sure in a few months when everything will be fixed it will be a great game
That's gaas gaming for u.
Sort of same thing happens with halo infinite launched great gameplay and extremely thin content and now it's amazing

It's definitely better. I absolutely hated the homologation system in FM7, especially when you'd take a car that met the series requirement and then be forced to upgrade for whatever reason. Made no sense.

FM8 doesn't have any of that. You can pick whatever car is eligible for the race you're at.

There's sort of an event list like FM3/FM4, basically a bunch of different events with 5 or so races that are restricted to certain themes or requirements.

Played the career up to the Le Mans showcase, this is really the first time that kind of racing clicks with me. I’m more of a Horizon player usually.

The combination of the car XP system, the segment scores and the upgrade system just create that dopamine loop where you’re encouraged to drive better and constantly progress and the game also gives you tools to improve.

Also they fixed that super annoying Quick Resume bug.

What the hell is with the lighting in this game!
The initial start up screen doesn't represent the car at all. Also the paint shop is useless because of it and the manufacturer colours are way off because of the lighting system being used.
They really, really need to redo the lighting system because it's kill the game for me.
Also replays are absolutely dogshit.

Yep colours are so off it's hilarious. Often have to correct them myself to get closer to reality

Game still can crash after applying upgrades .. removing your progress of the last track in career mode … sigh .

Something I just realised is that if you watch the latest Fable trailer the lighting is very simple to this.
I would be sure that Playground Studios that do Forza Horizon and Fable are using the same engine that Turn10 are using. That means there'll be no improvement because that's obviously how it's setup.

How does the game work with a dualsense? Does it support it natively or do you need steam input enabled?

Not natively supported but you can get the triggers etc working with this:

If you don't care about that stuff and don't want to purchase DSX then steam input will get it working as normal without all the extra features being enabled.

I gotta grind out like 20+ races to get two cars? Yeah, I'm too old for this shit.

EDIT--actually counted, it's 50 races. EFF THAT.
I can relate time wise, the game is fairly easy to get credits to buy cars though so this is a nice bonus for those really into the game. You can always either glitch millions in 5 minutes OR let the game race for you for easy credits ( even using mobile via xcloud).

Personally I like grinding for stuff it keeps me interested, Driveclub was great for this unlocking stuff for your club the more you played!

Finished the power tour. The Charger you get as a reward is surprisingly ass.

Two of the last three races were Nurburgring and Le Mans and they were both great. On Le Mans it was sprinkling at the start and on the last two laps just a torrential downpour. Really amazing what a difference there is dry versus sprinkling versus rain versus heavy rain.

Also the more I play the more apparent it is how uneven the graphics are in the game. At times it looks better than any other racing game I’ve played on console and other times if you told me it was Forza 5 or 6 I wouldn’t be surprised. This seems to be a common problem with all of these racing games though.

I kind of wish Forza and GT would take a step back and focus on building a great core game with much needed advancements in AI and physics (GT needs better physics more than Forza) and make more content ready at launch and maybe then focus on some of the pointless photo mode and replay bells and whistles.

Luckily the core gameplay here is top notch. But it’s kind of like Halo Infinite, great core gameplay at the core but shoddiness surrounding it.

Haven't had a ton of time with it so far, but liked what I saw and how it played. Just like most games this generation, it doesn't blow you away, but it still does look very, very good at times.
Seems like a solid game overall.

Yea the AI is just not good enough in either game (we await sophy) but really what has absolutely floundered is the great single player mode, both GT7 and Forza Motorsport are just so disappointing in this regard, so limiting compared to their predecessors

Since the early release and now I've poured over an hundred hours into the game, easily the most time I've put into a FM game in it's first two weeks of launch, I play the series since FM2 on the 360.

Playing on XSX, since the last patch I only encountered one back to dashboard crash, other than that it's mostly been smooth sailing, the only thing I could think off right now is that they should make the autoshow faster to load.

I play in performance mode without RT on because when I race I don't have the time to go inspect reflections so why bother anyway right? The 60FPS are buttery smooth and the environments look very good in my eyes. The trees look real 3D which makes the game immersive. The cars look and sound beautiful too, maybe not as detailed as the wizards at Polyphony but still pretty nonetheless.

I play mostly the Rivals mode which is a surprise, but the mode is like crack, so addicting! I like the loop of racing, leveling, upgrading and attacking rivals leaderboard times, rinse and repeat. I also like the fact that the game is a platform now and will be updated all the time, I can't imagine how the game will be in a year.

The details of the car models in GT7 are honestly way better when I look at the pictures, but does GT7 drive as good with a controller? If that's the case I will order a PS5 with GT7 right now, it's the only PS exclusive I miss since I went Xbox and Switch only in the Xbox One/PS4/WiiU gen.

Is it me or does that car pass appear like a terrible deal? In Forza 7 you got like twice the cars for the same price.

I've never really seen the point of buying extra cars in a game like this. It has hundreds of them, and you can upgrade them all so they don't handle so much like the default versions.

Also, I play non-VR racing games entirely from the bumper cam, so I often have no idea what I'm meant to be driving. After each race I click the auto upgrade button and next time it's a bit faster.

In 7 we got 63, now we get 42. So a third less not half. But the vanilla FM released with more cars than 7 didn't it?

The progression bug still isn't fixed. What the hell are they doing. Either they're super incompetent or the issues lie deep within the code and we're all screwed.

That groveL isn't actually bad. It also has a hidden bonus that most people would miss, it's actually rear wheel drive which means the tyres don't get worn out as fast as they do for the front wheel drive cars.

I can post tune settings if anyone is interested.

Seriously, how did Forza get approval for a release. It falls so lifeless and undercooked in soooo many ways. I bought the early access and instantly regretted it that night.

The interiors looks hideous
