Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen upgrade gameplay PS5 and XSX

People really need to read the update patch for this game.

The changes effectively make it a brand new game/RPG altogether, just with the same core story and world. There are massive changes to how you can play and experience this game. Things that simply weren't an option or available to you in gameplay are now there, there are changes to how core stats and attributes work, there are entirely new attributes added along with new perks, there are wholesale changes to how core abilities work, how enemies react to them, how you can fight netrunners, how they can fight you, this is huge.

I think I’m seeing ray traced reflections not just shadows.

XSX RT Mode:

It's easy to check if theres RT reflections - look at car windows.

LMAO at people saying Cyberpunk 2077 looks bad. If the face of an NPC or lack of detail of some irrelevant asset in a huge and ambitious game is unforgivable to you, at least have the TASTE to admire the artistic quality of this game. I've never used a photo mode in a game as much as I did in this one. The city and some characters are indeed breathtaking, though it can be rough around the edges sometimes, because it's so ambitious.

Besides, the it's a fun game since 2020, if you have PC or next-gen consoles.

Its a FEATURE!

I guess so :messenger_tears_of_joy:

But besides the random crash, I don't know what to think about the ray tracing mode....reflections are definetly not ray traced because the moment the light source is not in the scene they disappear. It's SSR.
I struggle to see differences even going back and forth from ray tracing to performance. I'd say that it's definetly not worth the 30fps hit.

So far the only thing that is absolutely noticeable is that crowd density was increased.

I cant get this to update to ps5. I have the ps4 game installed from the disc, but I haven't got anything where to update it free. Not pressing down and right (it has price of 25€ there), not in the library either.

Played a few minutes on PS5 in the 30fps RT mode and it does look significantly better. I only played a few hours at launch so I don't know the full extent

There are RT reflections and shadows in the game. Not sure why the graphic didn't include it but it's in the in-game setting description.

I've tried it briefly on PS5.
Finally there are many NPCs in the streets and in the squares.
Ray tracing doesn't seem to do anything that justifies cutting in half the frame rate.
Even disabling motion blur there is still a lot of camera blur?! I don't remember it being so aggressive.
HDR doesn't seem to be particularly effective in making highlights and bright surfaces pop-out.
Quite frankly it's pretty much how I remembered the game but with improved crowds.

Looking forward to see some technical comparisons.

Edit: Adaptive trigggers are supported while driving and shooting.

Check your HDR settings. Here's what I have for my OLED (a90J):
  • Peak nits: 1000
  • Tone mapping curve:1.0
  • Paper White: 200 (personal preference)

I can only download the free demo version, even if I have the disc in drive. Can anyone help?

How are PS5 folks finding the adaptive trigger implementation? Is just HD Rumble, or did they actually give it a full implementation?

Its always looked better at night so ill give it that, but honestly it still looks just above average. Nothing here is screaming NG.

I honestly think CDPR couldnt care less about this game, they're just saving abit of face at this point.

Think the biggest standout for me on SX vs the previous version is the amount of texture stuff that’s legible now: in the elevator ride up with Jackie in the intro there’s paper stuffed against the wall against the back of the elevator and you can actually read it, while it was a complete blur before.

Any ideas how I could nextgen update my PS4 disc version? I have tried almost everything I can think of. I have only PS4 version in my library and in the main menu when I highlight Cyberpunk icon, the square on the bottom right has only buy option or download the trial. I have completely uninstalled the game and re-installed it and it didn't help.

Is the image sharper in 30fps-mode?

(in addition to RT-shadows)

On PS5 no, at 30fps it seems there is some kind of permanent post processing/motion blur even if you disable motion blur in the menu that makes the whole image not crisp/clear at all.
And the RT-shadows, it's really hard to spot them....quite frankly I expected much more from the quality mode.
Performance mode seems the best, it's fluid, it has way more crowd density compared to PS4 Pro and some extra effects (smoke and others).

Check your HDR settings. Here's what I have for my OLED (a90J):

Yes I already had the peak brightness at 1000.
Tone mapping at 1 instead of 2 seems a bit better with saturation control.

  • 4K with dynamic scaling
  • ray tracing features
  • faster loading times
  • variety of other visual and technical improvements
  • DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback
  • Free Upgrade
5 RT options missing from console versions.

PC got 5 Ray tracing options and console only getting Local shadows. No RT lighting and reflection. Plus to enjoy new graphics enhancements you gotta play at 30fps. 60fps mode takes all enhancements away including RT local shadows.

Search for it on the store, then click the three dots, then select view product and then try the three dots again?

No RT reflections. You confusing SSR with RT. SSR is poor man's RT reflection.

Series S version gameplay, looks pretty nice.

Looks like they've stepped up the reflection quality. Nice that the city is busier now too. That was what was lacking the most between PC and console (even the previous XSX and XSS versions that were busier than PS/X1). Game has always been a consistent performer on the S though, it was the last-gen consoles that had the bad smell. :messenger_beaming:
