So gamers said halo was “just trying not to be bad” that’s true. You’re fighting against new competitors every year (Fortnite, Apex, etc.) halo’s greatest fear is being worse than the last Halo (goal is to be better) now every point Halo loses on metacritic it’s so sad to them, every win for Halo is surviving. 343 claims there’s no joy in Halo Infinite releasing in a pandemic year when Infinite 2 going 100 on metacritic would give them more satisfaction.

It's been a long while since I played Warzone. Does it have more than one map now?

Verdansk, Rebirth, and they just released Caldera this week.

Either way, it's a stupid comparison when you're comparing a BR map with tons of different POI, to the maps in an arena shooter.

Warzone has 3 whole other games integrated with it with far fleshed out multiplayer packages. And Apex Legends has a whole counter strike style Arenas mode with rotating maps. All I said was Halo doesn't have enough content to pull me away from these games, and that's a fact.

That's just how great Halo Infinite is and the best part is it should be able to win again next year on the campaign since it "was not even out"for 2021 voting. I do suspect Starfield would give it a run for the money though.

Anyway, I'm glad to see Halo win this. It's well deserved and sweeter since it's the players voting not a bunch of so-called 'journalists". I'm also glad to see Forza Horizon made the final cut as well. Two great Xbox games competing for the win. It kind of takes the sting out of Forza (the highest rated new game this year) not even being nominated let alone getting the well deserved GotY award

I don't disagree about Halo needing more maps but there's no point in comparing these with each other.

Kinda weird that it won GOTY despite being available for less than half a day, but I guess people really like the MP.

I personally have no GOTY this year. Returnal was ok. Ratchet was alright. RE8 was fun. But none of these is what I consider a GOTY contender. they are fun games you forget in a couple of weeks. I am hoping Halo's campaign is worth the hype because this has been one of the worst years ever for video games.

You can pretend that Warzone is "just a BR game", but you likely also played MW2019 / CW / Vanguard (starting yesterday) for faster weapon progression - assuming, you actually played it. Because if you did play Warzone, you would know they regularly introduced modes that weren't BR.... like Rumble mode (large-scale TDM).

And your beef isn't with me. I was clearly talking about total multiplayer content offerings. It was dude who brought up map counts between games.

Like I said, Halo is good, but the package is too slim **for me** to leave other more established multiplayer games right now. Maybe after a couple seasons.

The bots won who cares. It was obvious the moment the round started and it jumped out to like 20% ahead of everything else. Not to mention that fuckery in the 2nd round where RE Village and Psychonauts 2 each had like 10% and then shortly later RE Village had 0% and P2 had 3%. It was like someone went in and erased all their votes. Thing isn't credible at all. Betcha Halo Infinite barely wins any other GOTY awards from anywhere else. MP and Campaign are both unfinished.

The game is really good. I've put around 20 hours in the multiplayer and a couple hours single player. Only thing that's been keeping me from putting more time in is that I'm addicted to Forza Horizon 5. Honestly I hope FH5 gets some GOTY love. It's like the best arcade racer of the last five years, and it is so polished and content complete it would be a shame to see it not get the recognition it deserves

I played 5 minutes of the game so far so I can't give my opinion. Specially considering I haven't played a Halo game since 2 (which I enjoyed a lot).

That said, I found it amazing that the game was turned around after that catastrophic initial showing that was mocked to oblivion (and justly so).

Even if it's a meaningless contest/prize it's been a while since Microsoft appeared in such a way. I hope Phil feels satisfied with his work.

As a gamer that traditionally plays on PC and PS, I'm glad that Xbox is getting boosted as it deserves. I'm sure more cool things are coming.

P.S. This game winning doesn't mean that you don't get to enjoy other games the same. Quit crying, you are not getting paid by anyone and look pretty bad (Unless you are 13 years old, in which case carry one and remember it will get better )

The achievements right now show that less of 7% of people even defeated the first boss in the campaign, and that % drops for the immediate achievement after which is find the first skill point that's glowing right in front of you. So basically the internet poll was rushing by Halo fans, much like people rushed to the Metacritic site to give it a <3/10. No one has a fair opinion on the full Halo game as of yet. I can't even get anyone to give me an answer on why the game is better than the previous Halo 4 and 5.

Cyberpunk is on the list for best RPG and best score of 2021. I liked Cyberpunk a lot but LOL if that's even worthy of a nomination. Might as well give BF2042 Shooter of the Year because the trailer looked great.
