So are Sony actually going to show anything during E3 ‘21 or what?

They need to show at least one long 10 min gameplay of a big heavy hitter like gow or something similar.

factions, DS director shit and some third party game is not remotely enough.

if we consider that sony is famous for long gameplay of games that comes out years later during the past E3s (gow, days gone, horizon etc.) maybe they have something for ragnarock too, i mean the game is what? 1 year away? it's not like they started the project yesterday...

Let me give Sony a call and find out.

Anyway they have Kena, Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo and potentially Horizon this year. Then they are going to rely on 3rf party games like COD.

I think it would make sense to Sony to have a August/September event for early 2022 game releases.

1 great first party game and 1 great game developed by Housemarque for the entire year is you being well fed is it?

It's E3, so I expect Sony to have something to share like pretty much every console manufacturer in the last 20-30 years.

BTW, why exactly are you doubling down on this passive aggressive why do I expect Sony to release news around E3 schtick?
I'm not being passive aggressive, I'm genuinely asking. When Sony attends an event then yes it makes sense to expect something. But they already said they are not going to be at E3 2021. Just like how they were not an official attendee at E3 2019 either, or like how Nintendo is not an official attendee at Tokyo Game Show in recent years.

Companies have to pay to attend these events. If Sony refuses to give any money to the E3 orgnasiers, then the organisers aren't going to allow them to show anything.

Edit: Sony is an official attendee at Summer Game Fest, so we saw the Death Stranding and Deviation Games announcements there.

You assumed that a well-fed man cares about an eating competition with a starving man. This isn't the brag that you think it is.
And I’m not bragging about anything :messenger_tears_of_joy: what is there for me to brag about? ‘I can afford a £200 Xbox Series S look how wealthy and special I am’

Are there only 2 first party games on the PS5?

To put it in context, Nintendo games sell like gangbusters. However, we can all agree that their platforms aren't exactly swimming in high-quality 3rd party competition. And I love Nintendo, and think they're the best 1st party publisher, but context is everything. Playstations haven't exactly been lacking for games over the years that Horizon and Forza have been the big franchises that you felt a need to brag about. The PS5 isn't lacking for games either. So, your comment came across as insecure when taken in context.

If Playstations had the stigma of "not having any games," and the first-party titles didn't sell like Halo and Forza, then your post would have had some relevance. I'm sure you're going to be totally surprised when Sony ends up selling more systems and software this holiday, and at the end of the generation, because Halo and Forza reasons.

I mean, if Sony had an event now Microsoft would be quickly forgotten. Sony is silent to let Microsoft gain some traction. Otherwise is no fun for Sony to compete with them.

Even if they have a show coming up in a couple of weeks they should at least announce it. I really dont like this secrecy from Sony. It's just video games.

E3 was great because no matter what we knew we would be getting an update on games. now we have no certainty, no real schedule. We are basically at the mercy of whenever Sony decides to show us what games they have in development. Kind of frustrating.

Why not just get on with life. Is your life set on pause until Sony show their cards. It's just videogames.

As good as Returnal and Ratchet are, Horizon has to drop this year. Flight Simulator, Psychonauts 2, Forza Horizon 5 and Halo is a quality and varied line up.
Sony has competed with those games for generations. I'm excited for them but they are not going to cause a panic at Sony HQ.

What?

What do I have to be insecure about sorry? I’m a PlayStation gamer. Say something factual like Halo and Forza are bigger than Returnal and Ratchet, trigger that response, and you’re calling me insecure? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

And now you're gonna insult my intelligence with a stupid reminder that Sony has to pay to attend?

Yeah, no kidding, Sony would need to pay to attend or they can't have an official conference. That would not stop them from streaming their own news this week.

E3 is really boring nowadays, too much pragmatic with mediocre announcements and no megatons. The only thing that made this period of the year bearable were the games I got: FF Intergrade, GG Strive and Ratchet.

Anyway, I expect something from Sony late june or july.

In the real world halo is a dead ip.
Not a fan of the franchise but let’s come back when the numbers show up this fall. It’s fun when people talk out of their ass only to be missing when they got shit on their face. We still smell the shit stench coming from somewhere though...

I'm just trying to have a conversation here. I have no idea why you're getting so worked up or think I'm insulting you. They could do their own show during the days E3 is on, but if they're not part of E3 they are not tied to E3's timescales. EA are doing their own thing at a different time and Sony will probably do the same.

Everyone shits on the E3 2018 conference but they had gameplay for TLOU2, GoT, Spiderman and Death Stranding and they were all awesome. I have no idea why they went to trailer after trailer last year. it's so unsatisfying. They need to go back to the formula that made every E3 from them from 2015 to 2018 a goddamn sensation.

I would like to see the following:

- GoW 2 gameplay demo
- GT7 gameplay overview like the Forza Horizon devs did yesterday. outline all the key visual upgrades for next gen.
- MGS remake gameplay demo
- Horizon 2 story trailer with flying scenes
- FF16 gameplay demo
- Harry Potter gameplay demo
- Suicide Squad gameplay demo
- Factions and TLOU remake trailers
- Cory's new IP teaser
- GG's new IP teaser

I think the last two are important because they would be true next gen titles and it would help quell down some of the unrest among people not happy with their cross gen support.

Why not just get on with life. Is your life set on pause until Sony show their cards. It's just videogames.

I don't think Sony have anything to show, except for the multiplatform titles already shown at the Microsoft conference.

What can they show:

Dead Stranding: confirmed
GoW Ragnarok: Ok in development
GT7: ok, late in development
Forspoken and FFXVI: didn't appear at the Square conference, but not unlikely since they are (time?) exclusive for Sony.

And then?

TLOU Remake: unlikely, it'a rumor and it is probably in early stage.
An Insomniac game? Unlikely after Spiderman and Ratchet
Sucker Punch? Unlikely
Another Horizon gameplay? unlikely
Japan Studio? Ahahaha
Something from Quantic Dream? The are in silent mode for so long, an probably they will be multiplatform next time.

They have few titles to show at this E3, it has little sense to do conference on their own. Maybe another State of Play in September.

If you think about it... Starting April 2020 til now they have had, FF7 Remake, Last of US 2, Ghosts of Tsushima, Spiderman Miles Morales, Demon Souls PS5, Astros Playroom and Sackboy, Returnal and Ratchet and Clank that just came out... If you want to stretch it out a few months earlier Death Stranding was in that too during the Holiday. I would say that is one hell of a 1/2 year window of things that have come out already even if its a mix of PS4 and PS5.

I loved the E3 2018...

Your list is a bit (a lot) optimistic...i would be happy with 1/4 of that...

Sorry I forgot, this is GAF where Returnal and Ratchet are bigger IPs than Halo and Forza :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Sadly for Sony, the real world doesn’t agree.

NioLZnM.jpg

Notwithstand that people haven't made that argument ……

….. Forza has never exactly been a sales powerhouse and HALO is on the slide, did HALO 5 even do half the numbers of HALO 3? Forza Motorsport sells what, a million? Best selling Forza Horizon is under 4 million.

I think that they are not going to show anything. They released Returnal, Rachel and Clank and showed new Horizon game. It’s much better than all the E3 shows combined, what else do you expect?
I think communication is what people want. That's part of what E3 is all about.
And Sony has been failing massively on this front lately.

People also want to know what the next PS5 exclusive is after Ratchet and Clank.

Do you think Returnal will get close to 4 millions sales?

I think factions should be ready for at least a reveal. TLOU remake probably less likely but they have been working on it for over a year now and it was already in development at VSG before that.

The rest I agree. I dont expect anything from Sucker Punch, INsomniac, Sony Bend, Japan studios and QD. But GG has been hiring for mp devs since 2018 so they might have something to show.

If there is one thing most of us can agree on is Sonys mishandling of information I think. I dont think they necessarily had to have some huge E3 blowout and its kind of unrealistic to expect one every single year. Showing off Horizon Forbidden West gameplay for 15 minutes a bit ago before E3 just by itself was better than half of the E3 shows imo.

I don't need to see games that aren't coming until 2023 or later

But the communication is definitley fucking annoying, when it's E3 season and everyone is giving updates, at the very least they should be giving us some dates of their own events regardless of whether we have to wait until the end of the month or in August.
Why not? i mean something is still better than nothing.

I onestly never had a problem with trailers of games that come out 2-3 years later, at least you have something to talk in forums or with friends.

I'm fine with like 1 or 2. That's what they did with Ragnarok

But otherwise no, I'd rather they save it for a later E3 so we can see something more substantial along with the reveal.

I don't want a repeat of what Sony did with Spiderman, Ghosts TLOU2 etc.

In later E3 they can show more gameplay from the same titles like they did with spidey, horizon, days gone, unchy 4 etc, was anyone unhappy when they showed the jeep setpiece of unchy4 after they showed the forest section the year before?

I still take 10 min gameplay of a previously showed big hitter over a 30 sec teaser that shows nothing or uninteresting indies or pr talks etc.

Dude, you’re the one that needs to educate themselves.

Straw man - an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent's real argument.

You - GAF says Returnal is bigger than HALO

Me - that’s a straw man, no one has made that argument.

You - Do you think Returnal is going to make 4 million sales.

Actually, no. No I don’t. That’s why it’s a fucking straw man. Idiot.

We’ve seen Horizon forbidden west which could still fall into next year.
We got a God of War Ragnarok and Gran Turismo PS4 announcement.
What else do they have for the rest of the year? Surely they still have something else to announce?
COD vanguard event maybe?

I still don't think GT7 is coming to PS4 as the page for it hasn't been updated to include PS4, it's only showing PS5.

Of course i'm not saying I don't want big hitters, but if the big hitters aren't going to come until 2+ years down then that is unacceptable

If Sony only has Horizon, God of War and GT7 from now until the end 2022 then that is a massive fail. They keep on bragging about their investment in their FP so I want to see it
