Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
I have heard this many times before, right before Nintendo having a terrible showing. :messenger_fearful:
Yeah. The fact that they're doing their show so late, will inevitably raise expectations...

I'm not saying it's gonna be bad, but I'm seeing the stars align. I hope I'm wrong..

For me it's a B. Good pacing, lots of games, some good ones like Forza and A Plague Tale (can't wait to play this one !), it just lack some AAAA next gen games to really blow your mind and Redfall as "one more thing" is disappointing (yeah another 4 players coop shooting with power against zomb.. vampires horde).
But still, lots of games on Gamepass, good conf and i don't even play on Xbox.

B. Nothing blatantly bad like last summer, but other than Horizon 5 nothing really blew me away. Overall though I was happy with it. Halo is a marked improvement, Starfield is absolutely my dream game, I'm actually excited for some of the smaller games they showed.

Oh I know

I'm calling out Bethesda SavePlayer1 message they made years ago after all their games kept flopping

I blame MS for showing CG, but not the games themselves at this stage
The thing with Arkane, everyone loves them, me included, but their games are not mega blockbusters. Prey just did 'ok', Dishonored 2 did a bit better, but wasnt a huge hit.
I'm guessing its the multipl;ayer angle thats annoyed you, that could be down to Bethesda, or Arkane themselves, trying soemthing new.

B for me. I liked most of what they showed. Forza Horizon 5 looks amazing & I can't wait for Halo: Infinite, Staker, and Age of Empires IV. The show ended on a whimper though, what the hell were they thinking with that 4 player zombie all CGI game to end the show. No Fable, no Avowed, nothing from the Coalition. Also nothing big from Japan, where is Lost Odyssey 2 Phil??? All and all it was good but with plenty of room to improve.

Instead of "saved by the bell" they are saved by Bethesda.
If they hadn't bought Bethesda they would've just had Halo and Forza, like every E3.

Forza looked really good, a truly next gen game in my book.

I give the whole conference a C.
That's so true. Pity for them all these games were already planned and in development before MS bought them on March 2021 so I don't see them as first-party and never will. They were not involved at all (same for Starfield).

I can play Ascent, Hades, Scorn, Back4Blood, Flight Sim., Forza Horizon and Halo this year via gamepads, which is great. I would have bought at least half of them if I didn't have Gamepass. Conference was really good for GP subscribers.

On the other hand, my most anticipated Xbox games were Forza Motorsport, Avowed and Hellblade and we didn't hear anything about them, which is kinda disappointing.

All in all, this was one of best Xbox E3 con.s ever, I would easily rate it B or 8/10, most importantly, future seems bright for Xbox owners in terms of games, there are a lot to play and wait for. After a generation of Halo-Gears-Forza -they were also worse than their 360 counterparts-, now we have a lot more on Xbox, and I love it.

A lot of rumored stuff didn't show up. Thought they would announce more acquisitions, a streaming stick, more in depth play of HI MP and a beta date announcement. No release date at this point is very very weird.

Just pointing out the fact that Microsoft gets bashed for things that their competition gets passes for.
Lol, everyone hates Jim Ryan because he's a liar. But anyway, if that were the case then so what? Does that make Xbox showcase better? Or as equally bad? Phill and Jym Ryan must go, they are such incompetent people.

C -

Bunch Of CGI trailers with no game play and a lot of Co Op GAAS games. Not my cup of tea.

No rumored Kojima game LOL

MS blew it imo. will remain 3rd place for the remainder of this generation behind Sony and Nintendo in terms of games and sales.

Boring, anti-climactic - Forza and Far Cry look good, but those are (great, but) very predictable games. Starfield was a teaser trailer.

With all the money in the world can MS really not accomplish something like Forbidden West? Just one of those type of showcases and it would have been a different story.

Tons of titles. The star of the conference was Gamepass. It's revolutionizing game pricing, and they did not hold back in letting everyone know it. Xbox players can play all of these games without spending more money than they already have. That is a very different mindset.

It's literally a preview of things they're going to just drop in your library.

I think by MS standards it was one of their best conferences. However, nothing shown made my jaw drop, and there was no megaton announcement.

Its a generous 7/10 from me.

a C, ve4ry underwhelming, and that comes from a Xbox fan, been there done that, no WOW at all, must be because all the new studio's that didn't finish anything yet, but where is the new stuff?

All sequel stuff.. horizon 5 does look splendid.. but been there, done that.

Solid B.

It made an extremely compelling case for the value of Game Pass, given the sheer number and variety of titles coming to the service, and presumably that was Microsoft's #1 objective. Forza Horizon 5 looked amazing. The Outer Worlds 2 trailer that called bullshit on other cinematic trailers was funny. The vast majority of the games shown were stuff I would at least consider trying, which puts it above Ubisoft's mess yesterday. (Would give Ubisoft a C- and only Mario + Rabbids saved it from a D.)

Unfortunately, the two biggest letdowns were the games they chose to bookend the presentation with. It sucks that the Starfield trailer told us very little about how the game will actually play, and obviously the fact that it's not coming out until November of next year is lame (even if we were warned that might be the case). And Redfall looked fucking awful. Generic kitchen sink worldbuilding and character designs. Cringey jokes. Done-to-death and poorly realized vampire enemies. No real sense of how the game will actually play (and all indications are that it'll be another co-op shooter, which, if true, who cares). They probably should have opened with Halo and closed with Forza and stuck Starfield and Redfall in the middle to dampen their impact. We all know Starfield is going to be a major headliner next year. Let it open the show then.

7.5 , as a PC player and Game Pass subscriber it was a solid conference but nothing mind blowing, they needed more heavy hitters and a better ending.

Great:

all games announced for Game Pass
Stalker 2
Starfield but it's releasing in 2022
Back 4 Blood
Twelve Minutes
Psychonauts 2
Diablo Resurrected
Age of Empires IV
Forza Horizon 5
Replaced
Somerville
Top gun crossover

Bad/not great:

No megatons
No Halo single player gameplay
Disappointing ending with that Redfall long cg trailer, I was expecting something different after the Arkane+Vampire game rumours.
No Hellblade 2 showing
No Awoved

B..... However I wish they didn't show so many 2022 games. I'm really impressed with Forza and looking forward to 12 minutes and Back for Blood(?) I think it's called.

It depends on what the game actually is

If it was a vampire sim type game like we were led to believe, I wouldn't even mind co op thrown in or something. But all I see is another cringy L4D rip off with vampires instead

If that's not what this is, then whoever decided to showcase it this way needs to get the boot

I gave it a B, but that's a little strict. Somewhere between A-B.
I particularly loved how they just rolled the tape and kept cringy interruptions to a minimum.

B/B-

i own a PS5 no xbox..

finally did a decent conference after a whole generation without quality games and just promises they finally are trying to compete again..

and finally games for the xbox crowd..

still not enough to get me to get an xbox. i can miss out on Starfield.. owell

feels like Berthseda held it down for them.. Microsoft still only gives its Consumers Halo/gears/forza

The few titles I perked up for were cinematics and way off. Honestly, I overhyped myself reading Conker rumors yet again. And I was wanting to see a Quake teaser.

B/C for me personally because AoE4 and Forza Horizon 5 look nice!

Yep. Horizon pretty much saved their conference but if they had star citizen next gen gameplay they wouldve easily won E3. It's so important to do gameplay demos. Sony showed this back in 2015 and 2016. You HAVE to show up with vertical slices.

The fact that none of these games were present in gameplay form after being shown last year is very troubling. like what were these studios doing all last year?

- Fable
- Perfect Dark
- State of Decay
- Everwild
- Forza 7
- Avowed
- Hellblade 2

If I was Phil, i would fire the heads of each of those studios and replace them with devs from Sony studios and other productive Japanese studios like Capcom's RE team and From Software. Pay them millions if you have to. But get these fucking games out.

I would say B-. IMO rather than showing 30 they should have shown 15 games but proper gameplay demos. Like 5 or 6 games with 7-10 min of gameplay each and rest should be gameplay trailers. But they went for more content instead 🤷‍♂️

Better show than before. But it deserve a C or less.

Another year with [next gen Forza + 360 gen Halo]

When it comes to the big reveals, all were CGI like their previous shows. [space game + Arkane game]

The rest of the show just gives me a feeling that i'm watching an ad for a subscription service[of games coming to ps5 at some point and tiny xbox games]. Xbox = Netflix.

So they should be happy with a C. Because this show does not represent next gen quality. No hype... Series X hype eater. :<

That’s all I want to see from them, something like that. For a non FPS guy like myself I was disappointed at the overload of them.

Solid B, was expecting a bit more but the games they did show were either beautiful, or intriguing. They get some bonus points for having Eyiuden Chronicles on their show.

Halo Infinity multiplayer looks very chaotic and fun, this has never been a graphical masterpiece, so I’m not sure why some are moaning over the graphics, would have wanted to see more campaign though. I feel like if Infinity is overall a let down, the studio needs to be closed or restructured greatly and the Halo IP given to another studio to freshen things up.

FH5 looked absolutely stunning, I think it’s safe to say that this studio is the cream of the crop not only in Microsoft’s collective studios but overall. This makes me extremely hopeful for what Fable will bring.

Redfall looked alright, interesting choice to close the show. L4D was a lot of fun back on the 360 days and this game has a lot of L4D vibes to it. Doesn’t look remarkable though and that trailer was kind of cringe... but it could be very fun.

but overall, my feelings about E3 in its entirely this year.

Not making excuses but this didn’t seem like your usual fever pitch E3, I’m hoping things get back to normal next year, a year and more from this covid mess. Games were great, but it felt like the excitement was severely dialed back.

It was their best showing in a long time...but I still can't give it more than a C because there simply wasn't anything there to make me excited about owning an XSX any time soon...I'll get one in a few years for sure.

The takes are really getting wild now.

It was a 6/10 for me. Too many similar shooters and Starfield reveal fell flat, was hoping for a gameplay reveal.

As someone who is not a racing fan and not into Multiplayer in Halo it was a little lacklustre.

Flight Simulator is looking as amazing as ever. Good to see Hades coming and some interesting indie titles coming to game pass.

I'm a fan of AA games, and honestly that's kind of what excited me most about this show.

I'd play Yakuza, Dark Alliance, Aragami 2, The Gunk, Age of Empires. It's just a steady stream things to play. I don't think I'd actually buy any of these games. But if I had Gamepass, I think I'd play them all.

6 out of 10. Halo looked largely unchanged, no AAA new IP's, nothing to show from their staple of CG teasered titles, and Forza's photogrametic environments looked quite underwhelming compared to UE5 demos. I LOL'ed at the "looks like a photo, but wait it's gameplay" fakeout that couldn't have fooled a blind retard even with Youtube's comical 1080p Live stream compression.
