Sony can just put all the online modes of their games in PS Plus. Such as TLoU Factions, Uncharted Online, (rumored) SOCOM, GT online, etc. And make online free. You would be able to play the online modes of their single player games without buying the single player games. I only pay 35 a year for PS+ and I dont do it to play online. So eh....

This is great though Im going to give my Dad a Xbox one I got in some closet somewhere as a Bluray/Netflix machine.

No it isn't. It's just a series of events. They had it when it made sense, now maybe they don't.

For it to be ironic, there'd need to be a twist to it. It's not a fire station burning down, it's just a business doing something different.

Now that they might make it free people are holding Microsoft up on a pedestal like they're the champions of all thats right and good.

And they should. People supported Sony when MS was doing anti consumer crap. If Sony becomes what MS was, then people should support MS now. This is what the fanboys don't get.

One single corp can't have all the power. It doesn't matter if it's Sony or MS.

No it only gives you access to the xbox one gamepass to use with an xbox one which does have some games that aren't available for the pc game pass and vice versa.

They said they'd announce dates and certain games. I havent seen a single report of a game not working. They haven't announced dates.

My guess is even if Sony was to allow free multiplayer they would still retain their PS+ base for two reasons

1) People would loose access to their existing Plus library
2) People with multiple consoles would not be able to play digital games on both

There are also other things they can do with discounts and better quality free titles which could keep people subscribed

What are you talking about? Why wouldn't it make sense? On-line was free on the PS3, and maybe Microsoft projected they would make more money by making on-line free and focusing on the GPU. You are laughing at people who want to enjoy video games? Insane.

I'm buying both and this won't affect me since I don't play multiplayer on my Playstation but I can see people who play nothing but CoD or some other MP game basing their next purchase on free online. It's a pretty huge deal for the masses who don't care too much about Sony's exclusives. Especially with a possible XSS, a more powerful console, and Game Pass gaining momentum.
