The Last of Us 2's graphics (no spoilers)

The forest video that I saw was super low res but you could see that graphics are gonna be pretty damn good.
I think it will look better than RDR2 but it's really not a fair comparison. Open world vs small levels with baked lighting.
Really wonder what the PS5 version will bring to the table besides res. Should look spectacular.

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
If I'm Naughty Dog I would release the game especially when you know the Internet is all about spoilers and the Last of Us 2 is a HUGE deal in SONY circles.

Idk, I saw that gameplay too and I wasn't too blown away by it when I realized its pretty much a corridor. God of War looked much better to me and it is a semi-open world. But could just be be old footage for LoU.
LMAO what?! It’s a huge open area, and has the best graphics I’ve seen, I’ve never seen so much detailed vegetation and lighting like that in any game, but to each his own I guess.

ND is simply one of the best when it comes to visuals and animations and Sony is willing to give them the time and budget to achieve those results

Uncharted 4 is 4 years old and still one of the best looking games of the gen on any platform IMO:

#SonyToo
You misspelled PC

Damn is this thread hard to contribute to with out a sceenshot to be talking about. I mean from that long gameplay video they did last year we saw some fantastic environments. Seriously they looked great. But so didGOW, Days Gone and Death Stranding..... so it feel like its just normal WWS (high) quality to me.
was talking console lol but yeah PC goes even better

That's very true and I think TLOU 2 will be the new king

It looks good and I'm still excited for it, but I'm somewhat disappointed in the level design: the traversable part of the map is small and seems to accommodate only one route. The level design doesn't seem to be like that of Crysis 3, which has large maps that can be traversed in a number of ways and whose missions can be completed in multiple orders.

How they got all of that dense foliage within the memory budget is unbelievable and they still managed to have highly detailed character models and the best lighting 👍

You can keep your multiple routes and open missions personally. Compelling narrative and pacing combined with atmosphere are a legitimate design. Just as open design is.

We don’t need everything to be checking all boxes becoming a jack of all trades, master of none.

The forest footage was amazing, but when Ellie entered the house the graphics suddenly weren't that impressive.

From a technical point of view, RDR2 on X it's probably still going to be the best graphical game made on consoles. I doubt TLOU2 has even a fifth of the size of RDR2 and not even a 10th of the NPC. And resolution wise, it’s not going to be 4K.

I think FFVIIR is definitely a very uneven game, so I should’ve been clearer, sorry. The high points of FFVIIR surpass some pre-rendered CGI films. That’s not an exaggeration - we have a FFVII CGI rendered film for direct comparison, and the game eclipses it more than once. But, it is uneven, and I am discussing the high points.

TLOU2 will suffer from the same problem in terms of model, animation, lighting and material exchanges - the facial animations, for example, are top of the industry... but when the player is actually playing? Nope, it’ll be the usual animations we’ve seen before.

For me, though, the real factor is this: the “wow” shots from RDR2 are all from gameplay. It’s natural moments captured while someone is just enjoying the environment and the world. For all the bluster over “OMG ND”... the wow shots they’re showing off are all from the cinematics. The actually gameplay we’ve seen? It feels flat in comparison; the brighter lighting in particular lacks the volume and fullness that Rockstar seem to be able to deliver at abandon. It’s a good looking game, so I’m not shitting on it, but it’s not the industry leading tour de force some people seem to want it to be. For my money, RDR2, despite being kinda boring, is still the best real time graphics money can buy.
rdr2 is the technical masterpiece of this gen and it's not gonna be beated until next-gen, i'm with you here.

Oh God you don't actually believe that, do you? Maybe you just haven't seen anything outside of your love for Sony, which would make perfect sense. Those character models aren't even the best.

Consoles are now closed-spec PCs, and games are (mostly) build on already well known, multi-platform, scaleable engines, so we won't see as dramatic progression from launch titles to end-of-life games anymore. The PS5/XBX gameplay reveals we will see within next few months will show what's coming for the next 7-8 years, not much will change during those years.

I disagree. First couple of years most most will be cross-gen games. But once devs make exclusive with PS5 or Xbox X version in mind. Use as much RAM as possible, SSD texture streaming is also going to play important role, programmers optimizing their code or coming up with new ways. Probably use checkerboard or reconstruction technique for resolution and have more details, gfx affects etc ... It depends on the devs. Usually best looking games come in later half of console life cycle.

Its very good but i dont find it looking any better than U4

Plus all those shots are from cutscenes.
Actual gameplay graphics dont come close to this quality.
I was talking about the gameplay when I made this thread :) it's also using an improved version of UC4's engine

I do agree UC4 still looks amazing though

Just saw the footage of the forest section. Given the youtube compression, the level of detail achieved is amazing. The usual suspects are in complete denial on how good this game looks.
Yep even with the low resolution and YouTube compression you can see how crazy this game looks

Yes I do? Also I didn't say it's the best, just one of the best. What games do you think look much better?
Of course there's a level of sharpness and smoothness of a AAA game running at 4K 60fps+ on a high end PC that a console game can't match, but if it were to be ported over to PC I think it would definitely hold up.

Also what blind love for Sony? I don't even think UC4 is a very good game, it just looks nice.

Thanks. 720p and color saturation is off in capture, but certainly the craftsmanship shows through.
welp, yeah. First forest i've seen in a game that actually looks like a forest. Might be a corridor but the diversity and quality of the folliage really sells it. Trees trunks look kinda meh but yeah, looks aswesome .... i wish it was higher quality tho, everything is crushed, colors and blacks.

Did we see the same footage? It looked OK, nothing ground breaking, especially for a game that is in development for 7 years and even with a HUGE team and a lot of budget.

I honestly think that the forest in A Plague Tale looked much better:

and this is from a small indie dev.
That small indie dev who made FUEL and now doing MS Flight Simulator?

Seriously? ok then. I'll tag it as a "spoiler". Jeez.
it's a fucking cropped screenshot of a collectible, not even related to plot or gameplay.
There is a thread called:
"All The Last of Us 2 leaks/spoilers in here and nowhere else."
If it's a part of the leak, it shouldn't be anywhere else.

🤣🤣🤣 Right because the difference between pro and x is "staggering" lol 🤦‍♂️

Another resolution, 3 fps booster. Again first party Sony title even on ps og look better than the competition even on a stronger console tht came out you know a year later and was more expensive. Thts par the course. Uncharted 4 which is several years old looks better in most regards than Gears 5 and it's multiplayer is infinitely more dynamic and so on. I'll let tht sink in.
Regardless of the fact that you misinterpreted what he was saying. "Reading comprehension", you sound like a 13 year old. Let that sink in.

P.s. Game looks fucking amazing. I think it's going to outclass some launch games on next-gen.

I can only imagine this will be released on PS5 shortly after the console launches, just like how the original had a release on the PS4

You have a whole demographic of gamers tht don't believe RDR2 is the best graphically with its jank. My money is still on Horizon and Uncharted 4.

Not taking into account scope of course which is a great achievement in itself like gtav

My bet though is Ghost of T will take the graphical benchmark shit looks sublime in certain videos I've seen.
