Name one new console, that isn't an upgraded system, that has ever been successful at that price.

Sony tried this with the PS3, and Microsoft tried this with the Xbox One. Both failed miserably, so judging by past experience, $499 is objectively an awful price tag.

Its why I never worry about this publisher. Don't have to beg and worry and pray for new IP, its a given considering their track record. They are not scared to back new AAA IP, its almost as if making a new series at Sony is a requirement of the team lol

People have money, but people have set amounts to spend on each item, no matter how illogical it may seem.

I don't get why people have to upgrade to next year's Android or iPhone. Ya, it's better, but the improvements are going to be small.

A new console comes out once every 5 years and is leaps better than the old one, but if it's $350 or $400 instead of $300, that's too much, no dice.

Then the next day, they probably go buy Starbucks and their 11th pair of jeans. There's $100 right there.

Or they overpay for some TV and internet package where they will never come close to using all the channels or bandwidth. But instead of downgrading to basic packages, they keep themselves at middle/upper tier bundles that probably cost $50/mth more ($600 per year), and some reason don't bat an eye.

I change my phone once every 4 years on average. And even then the phone isn't the latest iPhone or Samsung or whatever. Like now I bought the Sharp Aquos S2 months ago for $200 used, and I'm quite happy with it. Snappy and everything I need it to do. Those more expensive ones aren't of better quality at all too. Apple used to feel quality, but not any more. Anyway I digress.

Except that no system has ever attained mass market success at that price point. And even those that have launched high have dropped within a short amount of time (PS3 and Xbone) ad stumbled for years or never really recovered from it. Most buyers aside from the super hardcore that go to video game forums will either wait for a drop or not jump in at all and will simply continue to play their current gen system.

Also keep in mind most of the public never saw the PS4 or Xbone as underpowered. They think they still look pretty damn good.

EDIT: also keep in mind that by some estimates only half the country will have a 4K set by the time this launches. I understand the idea of future proofing but as of right now, the term 4K doesn’t mean fuck all to most of the public, which will replace a TV organically when it fails but not to play a video game on a $500 console. People are way overestimating the lengths people will go to play what is essentially a toy.

The only reason I upgraded from my 19" 1080p tiny TV to a 4k TV is because I was looking for a tablet at the same time I was buying a TV, and the TV I got came with a free tablet. I don't care about 4k, it didn't influence my purchase at all. I'd still have regular HD if it weren't for a free add on.

I have perpetually broke friends with the XS Max (two grand in Canada!) and other high end flagships, with the reasoning being it's "only" 60-70 dollars on top of the plan every month.

Like, dude, you should always look at the sum total, no carrier is a charity and you'll usually pay more than buying the phone outright. But on that, I wonder if monthly payments for consoles would also help their adaptation.

Honestly all I want from PS5 is BC and native improvement of PS4 titles (like how Xbox One X does to X360 titles). I wanna be able to play Bloodborne at 4k/60fps for instance (just an example).

I've never understood this. The only time I can tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps is if it's the same exact image playing right next to its self at the different speeds. People have been complaining about this for what, 15 years? We're at least a decade away from having the technology to always run at 60fps. It's not happening, just enjoy your games.

I think 60fps is going to get a lot more common, mainly because I don't see complexity for many types of games increasing much at all. I mean if you look at the difference in power between now and say the ps2/xbox/gc era, its absolutely massive, yet games haven't grown in scope for the most part to anything like the same degree.

I just worry that next gen games are going to focus all of their efforts on the tittinest graphix (as usual) instead of using the horse power to polish what we've already got. 4 ps4 pros that had disc drive failures. DS4 controllers with faulty thumb sticks. Overrated cinematic games that for over a decade I had to convince my self I was having a good time playing.

A sony XBR bravia tv I purchased in 2007 end up having dead pixels and clouding issues. I had to return it for a Panasonic plasma.

A sony x900b tv I purchased in 2014 only lasted 4 years until the tv LED started flashing red and wouldn't turn on. It also had a blown speaker. Turned out the power board failed. I called a TV tech to repair the tv which cost me $700 as I was out of warranty, funnily enough he told me that 90% of tv's he repairs are Sony.

The media is completely biased towards Sony and mislead people into believing that Sony can do no wrong. Sony is all about producing cheap quality products to maximize profit.

The only good exclusive title sony has had in the past decade is Bloodborne. The last of us, god of war, Uncharted, infamous are all objectively boring as fuck with dreadful gameplay. But hey, they look pretty and are cinematic so 11/10!

I purchased my first xbox X only last week and I have been having a fucking ball going through all the gears of wars, Halo and Forza series and far superior third party games in 4k. I also purcahsed the xbox elite controller and I could NEVER go back to that flimsy DS4. Hell, I could never go back to the playstation ecosystem after I have experienced a premium console that offers game pass and actually fun games.

Soon people will open their eyes. Mark my words.

I went through 4 PS4's due to disc drive failures. 6 controllers with faulty thumb stick grips and god knows what else. My last PS4 PRO was 3 months old before it started spitting out my discs and completely fucked its disc drive. Why the gaming industry refuses to acknowledge this as a real problem is truly baffling.

I recently purchased an xbox x and the difference in build quality is astonishing. The controller feels sturdy and premium, no rattles or loose parts. The console itself is light years ahead of the PS4. Its silent, lightning quick and 90% of games run at native 4k with superior graphical detail.

I guarantee you the PS5 will have the same issues, and Microsoft will still have the superior console come next gen.

Its a reflection of who Cory Barlog is. A pretentious and over-hyped director. Everything about the game is mediocre to below average and yet everyone is sucking Barlogs dick.

Like, how the fuck do spend 5 years and end up making a boring ass game with 5 generic enemies? The enemy variety is abysmal. The blood and gore is non existent outside of 1 or 2 finisher kills, the pacing is atrocious and the only good section of the game is the first 20 minutes and a scripted Dragon.

I am currently playing Assasin Creed Odyssey and its a far more ambitious and superior game in almost every aspect. Let that sink in.

Cory had a kid, became an emotional high estrogen cuck, then decided to strip all the great qualities that made God of war so great and replaced it with an annoying moron of a kid, slow tedious walking and climbing sections and fuckton of repetitive re skinned troll fights and 2 fucking weapons. 10/10 goat!!11

The game blows its load after the first 10 minutes then becomes a boring slog once you reach Althleim. Combine that with generic designed enemies, awful enemy variety and 20 fucking trolls just to pad the game out, because apparently 5 years wasn't long enough to create more than 5 enemy types.

Oh and lets not forget the damn puzzle and bells you need to ring every 10 feet that destroys any pacing the game had.

As a huge god of war fan I would struggle to give this a 6 / 10

My statement still stands, god of war 2018 perhaps the most overrated and pretentious game I have ever played. It bored me to tears. The entire game was a boring slog. walk and open chests every 10 feet with 20 repeated troll fights, a complete lack of enemy variety and the game blew its load after the first Bulder fight. Once I reached Althiem (however you spell it) God of war just declines to a boring and tedious game.

Bloodborne is the only good sony exclusive.

There are literally hundreds of examples out there stating the same thing if you searched the net. The tv technician that fixed my tv also shares my opinion. Do you want his number so you can call him to verify? Will take make you sleep better at night?

Go and report me to Sony for defamation. Lets see how far they get. This is getting ridiculous.

I was probably a bigger Sony fan than you and everyone else in the forum combined. The difference with me, I woke up.


4 ps4 pros that had disc drive failures. DS4 controllers with faulty thumb sticks. Overrated cinematic games that for over a decade I had to convince my self I was having a good time playing.

A sony XBR bravia tv I purchased in 2007 end up having dead pixels and clouding issues. I had to return it for a Panasonic plasma.

A sony x900b tv I purchased in 2014 only lasted 4 years until the tv LED started flashing red and wouldn't turn on. It also had a blown speaker. Turned out the power board failed. I called a TV tech to repair the tv which cost me $700 as I was out of warranty, funnily enough he told me that 90% of tv's he repairs are Sony.

The only good exclusive title sony has had in the past decade is Bloodborne. The last of us, god of war, Uncharted, infamous are all objectively boring as fuck with dreadful gameplay. But hey, they look pretty and are cinematic so 11/10!

I purchased my first xbox X only last week and I have been having a fucking ball going through all the gears of wars, Halo and Forza series and far superior third party games in 4k. I also purcahsed the xbox elite controller and I could NEVER go back to that flimsy DS4. Hell, I could never go back to the playstation ecosystem after I have experienced a premium console that offers game pass and actually fun games.

Soon people will open their eyes. Mark my words.
