Will vote with my wallet never again with 30fps30 FPS suddenly becoming unbearable is funny
Bloodborne, The Witcher 3, Zelda BOTW, The Last of Us, God of War 2018, RDR 2 ...
All the best games from last gen and the gen before that were 30 FPS and sold like hotcakes. And you guys expect the industry to shift to 60 FPS for good now?
You guys are delusional. GAF is a small bubble.
And even here you guys enjoy games that can only be played at 30 FPS even today, like Bloodborne
You'll have 30 FPS and you'll be fine
Even if Sony launches something like Bloodborne 2? Or the Zelda sequel? (if emulators couldnt run it properly)Will vote with my wallet never again with 30fps
I’m sorry but Sony isn’t gonna release a first party game in 30fps againEven if Sony launches something like Bloodborne 2? Or the Zelda sequel? (if emulators couldnt run it properly)
I admire your will, but you would be the 1% and wouldnt move the needle in the slightest

I will buy you next next Sony first party game that is only 30fps on ps5We will see
Specially when some years from now that PS5 Pro idea becomes more and more tempting for Sony
How's Bloodborne running on PC?
The Last Guardian? Infamous Second Son, The Last of Us Part II, Until Dawn, etc.
To play some games (at least at the decade that its released) you either play it with 30 FPS, improper framepacing and etc. or you simply dont.
to be fair PS1 games ran at 30 mostly and you'd be insane if you went to an even lower resolution than 240p for the sole purpose of better FPS.actually, it was only ever implemented because resolution was prioritised by out of touch hardware manufacturers.
hey the ps4 emulator's getting there. and there's other reasons i can't play bloodborne besides the fact it runs at 30fps. don't care bout the others thoughWe will see

Well, its booting games. But until it can run Bloodborne, it will be probably 10 years after the game's launch in 2025.to be fair PS1 games ran at 30 mostly and you'd be insane if you went to an even lower resolution than 240p for the sole purpose of better FPS.
but yeah, honestly 8th gen should have been 720p. Dare i say 9th gen should have capped out at 1440p except for a few games that can handle the higher resolution (and they'd probably run better at 120fps in 1440p anyways). most games on 8th gen didn't even run fully at 1080p so at this point why not just make it 720p and skip upgrading the resolution for a gen.

It's like suddenly the Switch and the PS4 don't exist anymore.30 FPS suddenly becoming unbearable is funny

mfs think that because they got new consoles all of a sudden they've got supercomputer machines that will run everything at the highest framerateIt's like suddenly the Switch and the PS4 don't exist anymore.
All of a sudden 30fps is "unbearable"![]()
You know damn well that these machines are capable of offering a multitude of graphical settings that would allow people to prioritize 30FPS with bells and whistles or 60FPS with scaled down graphics. Just like "midrange PCs from 2018" are capable of doing. There is zero reason for 30FPS with no options to be a standard thing in 2022/2023 even with these consoles.mfs think that because they got new consoles all of a sudden they've got supercomputer machines that will run everything at the highest framerate
wait so you're genuinely telling me that people are going to expect 8k 120fps on all games because that's what the PS5 said on the side of the box??? LOLWhen these consoles are marketing themselves as 120FPS/8K capable on the side of their boxes, what do you think gamers -- yes, even the "average" ones -- expect the boxes to do?
30fps with no options. the original poster never mentioned anything about options, though. Don't think anyone else here has. By that logic this thread is kind of pointless since options are a thing. You know damn well that these machines are capable of offering a multitude of graphical settings that would allow people to prioritize 30FPS with bells and whistles or 60FPS with scaled down graphics. I feel for you guys not using a plasma. Saw 4k30fps on a game playing on a modern tv and was in love until the camera started moving.I've had it with sub 60 fps games, horrible input lag and motion clarity. Only exception is Switch exclusives such as Zelda or Xenoblade. Now days I buy everything I can for my PC if possible so I can game at ideally 120fps when possible.
I might even wait for the PC release of Sony's games such as Spiderman 2, Wolverine etc if they only come with 30 fps. But I hope Sony have noticed how important a performance mode is these days and that it will continue be an option with the non cross gen games.
I am hopeful when looking at what UE5 manages to do with Lumen (RT, GI ) and Nanite at 60 fps in the latest Fortnite update.
Thing is, a lot of us have had pretty powerful PCs this past decade and can runs games on a high levels with high 60+ fps. So, with this new gen of consoles it's like it’s playing catch up and since PCs can already run those games well with like 8 year old hardware it now just looks and feels like both platforms are kinda staying stagnant for the nest while. I blame the Series S and obviously covid.Looking at a game run at 30fps for someone that cares about fluidity is like looking at a game at 480p on a 65inch tv when you care about about screenshot quality. I totally understand why people love graphical quality to the point of sacrificing framerate, because that's exactly how I feel but in the opposite direction. Framerate all day to the point that it's a big factor in if I'll make a purchase or not, but I get it. Some people just like big bells and nice whistles more if given the choice.
Yes, but all of those games are a thousand times better played at 60 or above.30 FPS suddenly becoming unbearable is funny

resolution has nothing to do with games being bogged down to 30 FPS. you cannot make a game more CPU optimized by reducing the resolution to 100p. only reason games will have 30 fps only modes will be because of the CPU. consoles once again have anemic CPUs (zen 2 with 8 mb cache + two ccx [gdrr6 ccx latency which hurts the cpu performance when cores across ccxs try to communicate). 8 mb cache is enormously low, two ccx design is horribly bad, and zen 2 simply has the IPC and single thread performance of a 2017 Intel CPU. (and with the 3.6 ghz core clock, you're looking at 2015 skylake levels of ACTUAL single thread performance., which adds further fuel to the argument)with FSR 2 already being implemented combined with DRS very few will only have 30fps on next-gen games, most likely interactive games like Life is Strange that will push visuals instead of 60fps
Dark souls, gears of war, all uncharted games. Most great games in previous 2 gems were 30 fps and played amazing.30 FPS suddenly becoming unbearable is funny
