Direct visual and feature comparison of the recently released Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and the original trilogy of Mass Effect games all played on the PC.
I forgot how tedious planet scanning on ME2 was. Wish they could have improved that somehow.
Taking a look at a Mass Effect Legendary Edition PS5 vs Xbox Series X Performance Review where we test all the various frame rate options. This was done on Mass Effect PS5 vs Xbox Series X so we could take a look at both side-by-side. Mass Effect Legendary edition includes Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3 and offers a 60fps mode, or 120fps mode. The Mass Effect 120fps Xbox Series X mode is only availale on that platform.
There were a lot of easy tweaks they should have made that would have worked wonders. One thing I would love is to be able to switch your class in NG+, but keep all the skills. In ME2 I'd also greatly appreciate them raising the level cap so that all skills can be maxed out OR at least make it such that you aren't required to unlock one skill to use another.I forgot how tedious planet scanning on ME2 was. 10 each. EquityWhy the hell did this game get three 10GB+ patches already? Are the devs incapable of releasing smaller patches or was it so broken in its release state?
Still only 2 hours into ME1. I forgot how damn bad the gameplay was -_-
Damn, that’s the risk of revisiting old thingsI finished ME1 yesterday and I definitely had better memories of the game than what it actually was. I still love the story, the characters, (re)discovering the lore, the soundtrack and spending time on the Citadel, but there were also many things which annoyed me:
- optional locations having like only 3 different layouts is the biggest offense, really puts you off from doing optional exploration and quests
- teammates have poor AI and often they can't even hide behind cover properly (after receiving orders)
- some of the main locations look uninspiring, especially Noveria
- romances starting out of nowhere (Ashley and Liara suddenly started asking me who's my favorite)
- framedrops which shouldn't happen in a 2007 game played in 2021 (on PS5)
Overall it's a weak 8/10, thankfully I'm already having much better time playing ME2.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition - Mass Effect 2 reviewed on Xbox Series X by Dan Stapleton. Also available on Xbox One, PlayStation, and PC.
Mass Effect 2 Legendary Edition remains the highpoint in an amazing trilogy, and its 4K makeover allows its graphics to hold up nearly as well as its strong gameplay, excellent story, and fantastic characters. With the DLC smoothly integrated into the flow of the campaign, this epic sci-fi RPG contains dozens of hours of exciting missions that explore the interesting backstories of your teammates and their respective alien cultures. The final couple of hours of the campaign are a truly brilliant culmination of the emotional connections we're led to build with them. If you've played it before it's more than flexible enough to give you a different experience this time, and if you haven't you absolutely should.
Just coming back to this thread to say that despite my earlier skepticism this is by far my most played game (set of games I guess) of the year.Chances of buying 100%
Chances of actually playing through again 0-5%
Enjoy my money EA.
Yeah I was and still hoping Miles Morales copy arrives today! Will also go back to the world of GamePass no hurry to start ME2 even though that game was THE game that got me hooked on my 360 like no other...Top tip, don't play these back to back.
As much as ME2 is a huge step up I'm burnt out about a third of the way in.
Will give it a long break and come back to it.

WtfNot supporting Quick Resume in this game sucks major ass. I am cleaning achievements, so I am doing shorter runs and it just sucks, when you also play other games. Not sure why it's disabled, it should work by default.
Yeah it's shit, also it has X|S badge, but it's compiled with XDK (not new new GDK), I guess EA has some privileges which other don't have.Wtf
i was looking at mass effect but this is a dealbreaker. I always have a couple of singleplayer games on quick resume
Yeah i love the mass effect trilogy. Its my favorite series of games of all time. But two is one of the absolute best games ive ever played. Its still nearly perfect 11 years laterJust finished ME2 for the first time cause of this collection and it may be one of my favourite games. Can't believe I never picked this up 10 years ago.
Mass effect 3 is a much better conclusion than it gets credit for. It puts a nice bow on many of the series lingering threads, like the genophage, and the geth/quarian situation. It has some amazing character moments, especially in the citadel dlc. Wheather its liara losing it as she watches thessia burn, or tali singing to sheapard in the dlc. Javik is such a great character, its criminal that he was cut to be sold as dlc in the original release. Also you get a satisfying end to whomever you romanced throughout the trilogy. If i could change anything about me 3, i would give miranda more screen time and have her become a full on squad mate. Same with jack and grunt. I would have loved to see how they interact with the rest of the normandy crew like liara or ashley in the downtime between missions. They probably werent made squadmates for budget and time purposesPlatinumed all three. It is so nice at least some developers learned that achievements and trophies aren't supposed to be a punishment to players.
I platinumed the original Mass Effect on PS3, and I still don't know why I bothered. Absolute, chore.
The Legendary Edition trophies are all what trophies should be - do most of the side content, use each character at least a bit, check out some of the neat off-the-path areas and finish the game (preferably with a requirement of only Normal or higher).
For being as old as they are now, these games, especially 2 and 3 hold up to today's standards very well. Mass Effect 3 is incredibly overrated because of those last 10 minutes. The game, as a whole, is fantastic.
No. It's not, the ending is still crap and most of the storylines were wrapped up in the laziest way possible. The Geth/Quarrian storyline was so badly handled in this one. Mac Walters was not up to the task of completing a whole story. Priority Earth is so unforgivably bad. Citadel DLC does work when treated as the true ending of the game.Mass effect 3 is a much better conclusion than it gets credit for. Legendary for sure. Better graphics and resolution, 60fps, all the games, all the dlc. Almost all the content we thought may be cut (like punching female reporters lol) is still in there.I never played Mass Effect before. So should I go with legendary edition or for example the 360 version trilogy version?.
Imo 3 is a level above 2, although i prefer 2 as a game.Going straight from 2 to 3 is pretty jarring, is it just me or does the sequel actually look worse? Also you can't holster your weapon? WTF.
Anyway, bitching aside, absolutely loving the series playthrough.

Andromeda is awesome.I want to buy this but all its going to do is piss me off how bad they screwed up Andromeda.

Andromeda is an Amazing game, it just has a diferent tone and a diferent goal. It's a "let's discover a new galaxy" adventure not a "WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE" all out war like ME1-3.
