Embarrassing, maybe Frankie should be helping out during Development instead of jerking off on ResetERA. Once Corrine Yu left 343, it pretty much fucked them, Engineering wise. But this is what happens when you just don't care about the franchise.

Corrine Yu? She only worked on Halo 4. And Halo 4 was a 30fps game. Halo Infinte is an openworld game targeting 60fps. And her track record prior to Halo 4 was Gearbox games and we know how Gearbox games look.

Creating a new game for XSX that can also run on a weak 2013 1.3 tf machine, while trying to develop a brand new engine from scratch at the same time on top of new tools etc on top of a global pandemic where everything has to be done at home has a lot to do with this. I'm confident 343I will iron out a lot of the issues over time with improvements via patches. The engine will get updated as well. They just need more time. 343 has a ton of highly talented engineers and artist. Give them more time.

So many people told you the "Everything is scalable" is BS and you refused to admit it, so it's kind of beautiful to see you admit that Halo Infinite is not a next gen game. :p

A lot of games are made on PC and scaled down to run on consoles. And my opinion remains the same. The Halo Infinite issues is a far more complicated thing imo. Is the SlipSpace Engine designed/good at scalability? Alex raised this question. The game isn't finished and will be a work in progress for years to come, like Destiny or the MCC. It will receive continues improvements overtime with Ray tracing etc.

I distinctly remember you saying how Halo Infinite was a next gen game and how everything is scalable. Didn't you make a post about how MS's cross gen games will look better than anything on PS5? That aged well. :)

Nice to see you admitting that you were wrong. ;)

That was the point of scalability as a crutch. It is not free, it requires investment and tons of QA. Then every time you want to make changes you have a nice wider and wider matrix of device and OS/driver versions to test which means more and more of your dev budget is not going in the game itself but in the porting efforts.

If you have two different SKU’s and you get additional sales for the additional ports and prioritise accordingly it gets a bit easier, you may afford an additional dedicated port team, but without it... same game supporting multiple generations just means more and more money spent in porting features and maintenance/testing.

... and all of that comes before you cut features off that cannot work on all versions from a game design perspective.

Scalability was about the Lockhart console, not the Xbox One.

Of course there isn't scalability between totally different architectures and with that huge difference in specs.

Oh do not give me that... it was definitely an argument used in the midst of all the usual blurb about how it was all pro consumer and easy anyways: “not wanting to force gamers to update”, “generation exclusives are anti consumer”, etc...

Sounds somewhat like the DF video said, by dropping to sub 4K and applying some RT lighting correction, it could help a lot. I don't want sacrifices just to be able to say native 4K, 1440p reconstructed up to 4K still looks amazing.

I had also been thinking, and TheGreatWhiteShark TheGreatWhiteShark posted this in response, that the gameplay demo looked quite desaturated while the actual trailer didn't, almost like the former was an HDR video shown in SDR which causes that kind of desaturation. This was the same video in 1000 nits HDR, and looks dramatically better on a capable screen.

Anyways I'm not trying to make excuses for them, but the lighting and pop ins are plausible large improvements before launch or after launch with RT, where going over every texture again would take far more time.

Where are you getting that from?

If you go on infinites website it says you can explore the full Halo ring for the first time ever.

If I can start at one point and travel all around the ring and come back on myself to the original start point (like a 3D version of Starbound) then this game will be fucking amazing. I’ll temper my expectations though.

Game looks bad, period. They need to dial back on that open world defense argument. Crysis is an amazing sandbox and was always a graphical powerhouse without any excuses. Current gen Xbox is holding them down, it's obvious.

to be honest I wouldn’t blame the current gen Xbox for this, as there are multiple games on it that look better than halo infinite and they also run at 4K (Xbox one x)

In Halo Infinite we've really harnessed a lot of advanced rendering techniques, but also the immense power of the Xbox Series X.
At dynamic 4K? Running on PC instead of Series X or even a devkit?

How can someone believe in this?

Dymanic 4k with lot of 720p poorly implemented VRS from pixel counters (does that count as 4K ?)

Looks like VRS 3x3 isn't a thing on series X or PC, so that's not it

I’ve accepted the graphics are going to suck. Went through all the grieving stages. Do I wish it was different? Sure. I don’t see how a company can misread people’s expectations so badly and still try to defend it. I don’t see how Microsoft can call this next generation - if there’s something truly next gen about it they shoulda shown that instead of 5 min of gameplay padded by two cutscenes. And no the trailer looks no better graphically to me so I don’t see why anyone is even using that for hope.

That said. This is what I’ve always wanted from a halo game gameplay wise. This is going to be a hell of a lot of fun with split screen co op so I’m stoked to hell. And I’ll pick up like a used Xbox one or Lockhart to run it

Perhaps the Washington Football Team can be the first. Not like they can get any worse...

REDSKINS!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I said the R word. What's up? I'm not calling them the Washington Football Team.

Simply put, WAY too much work needs to be done, while the game launches in 4 months, minus at least a month for stamping the discs for retail version, there's simply no way much of anything will improve at launch.
This is assuming the demo version was taken from the latest code. All indications point to this being false. The latest code could look much better.

Halo was a huge turn off and a red flag for series x. I want no part in next gen consoles with exclusive 1st party games made first to run on last gen consoles with a higher resolution or fps bump on series x.

The game play didn't even look like xbox one x. Looked like it belong on the first xbox one it was that outdated. When I watched it I thought I was watching the Xbox One version and missed the next gen gameplay.

When I seen it was next gen game play I closed it and said " I am out" I want no part of Xbox series x.

Well if it's truly a January build, while the devkits were released in late November or so, that would mean what we saw X1X build. But it's all huge question marks, if we won't see anything new/better in the next 2-3 months then not much will change until the RT patch shows up.

So he's saying, "noosenoise really advanced noosenoise great sound". I don't think he's addressed the reaction, as your thread title suggested. I'm actually looking out for a real reaction.

I mean, the 'graphics' weren't bad, I just think they need to clean up some of the animations and lifeless aspects.

The ship isn’t clipping. If you zoom in you can see it flying above the tree. But yeah no swaying of the tree is eh.

holy shit. did not notice the ship clipping. wtf.

That'll probably be more entertaining than traditional NFL, so i'm.
It would not be an issue if they had bothered to animate the tree bending from the downforce of the anti-grav. i am not sure tree physics would have time to be added before launch.

Please explain the shitshow that is now Bioware, ArenaNet, 343, DICE and now Ubisoft? All these studios went through a public PR campaign about "diversity" and they all went through hell with their latest releases. Coincidence?

Ubisoft were so proud of their diverse teams and all these poor soft babies went online accusing them of harrassment and misogyny and now their studios are in deep shit. Even Insomniac hired some and it backfired in their faces too.

All those unqualified people are nothing but trouble in the workplace and they always bring up the diversity card.

This strawman speaks to the mindset of vindictive mentality and not interested in pursing an honest debate. The PR campaign is just that - PR - for all we know they have been diverse way before their respective games went to shit. Putting them front and center does not undo bad creative decisions from the higher ups. All those studios you mentioned clearly had corporate fiddling all around it, painting a target on the back of "diversity" is just a cheap shot to incite mob harassment to your political view.

Acoustics Engine for sounds, slipspace engine for open world, craig engine for brute rendering and ray tracing effects, Series X looks way more promising than PS5 at this stage. Your move Sony!
