The last great one... for me was FFIX...Ehhhh, it was exclusive to Sony for PS1 and PS2.
Of course, the last quality FF IMO was FFX, so... they can do whatever they want with the series. Frankly, Bravely is where it's at, now.
Xbox has been completely devoid of any AAA games so far this year. The fact that one of the biggest RPGs of the generation skipped their machine so far is a big deal
They got timed exclusives for Series X like The Medium. There's just fewer opportunities not being in a position of power.
There's likely to be a much larger PS5 install base, so it makes sense companies would rather make a deal with Sony over Xbox. They'd have to have a huge Xbox attach rate to make any deal worthwhile - a feat hard for a Japanese RPG.
It would? Since when do xbox gamers care about FF?Would be a huge megaton, even timed.
It's all fair in war.
If this end up being true.........Oh boy
Thanks for being so consumer friendly Sony!
FF15 would of had to of bombed
Well then.....dont mind if I start early...I'm with you there.
Especially with all the other crazy rumors.
Probably just timed like FFVII Remake.
Not even Sony would be scumbag enough to have a FF game 100% exclusive.
This "consumer friendly" is language made up by the confused people with buyers remorse. You DONT have a right to play all software.
Mac users didnt have some right to all the software on PC and it wasnt anti-consumer not to port the software to a platform that wasnt
profitable. If a company wants to create a game - and actually utilize the hardware they either need to dedicate a ton more time or money
or create something that is only on that hardware. You dont buy a Playstation then cry over whats on XBOX or buy a PC and cry over
whats on playstation or buy a Switch and cry over whats on PC. Is Steam anti-consumer because it doesnt mandate all its games are
playable on every single PC made since 2005? No.... thats insane sounding.
I know it comes off as a rant, but its getting old, the entitled idea that people are being locked away from software.
You're only as locked away from software as you are locked away from buying the machine that runs it.
Its like saying Toyota Corollas are locked away from having the interior out of an Audi or the engine out of a Corvette.
Buy what has the things you want and as a consumer nothing more is promised.
Companies can always use a little extra cash

Money is money and money talks.
I'm curious to see how the competition reacts to this. They just have known about this for a while.
Yes, I was around. Real shitstorm... but Microsoft should have continued that route. There will always be a vocal minority that you simply have to ignore.
Take the example of Epic store exclusives. At the beginning people started bitchin left and right, but as time goes by, they eventually move on and Epic continues with it's store exclusives.
Have wondered that as well. This could be in reaction to something MS has going with the WB Games deal (a deal I don't think is really worth it tbh, would be better if they purchased license rights for a few DC characters and ignored adding yet more studios...unless they're named Asobo , or some other major exclusive MS's also moneyhatted but hasn't been revealed yet.
If it's in reaction, then this practice really will play out throughout the generation and even affects PC and Nintendo gamers, too. It will get ugly on both sides
FF15 would have to of bombed on bone for this to happen. Never looked into the sales of that game. Obviously it would be skewed towards PlayStation as that's where most people associate it but Enix has supported Xbox more than ever recently, especially with GP.
Can we ban Resetera if this turns out false?
Maybe, maybe timed exclusive for like 6 months to at most a year like FF7. It could even be exclusives features for the PS5 version.
I think FF15 sold ok on XBox, but I’m pretty sure it sold much better on PS4 though. Sony did get FF7: Remake exclusive for a year. I highly doubt they have full exclusivity to FF16 though. And why weren't they on the dreamcast? They didn't moneyhat EA. EA games that were console exclusive on PS1 like NFS were on every system known to man... except the Dreamcast.

I'd much prefer if Sony took the money they spent on this and all other shitty timed exclusives and used it to make a cool new JRPG IP.
This actually had nothing to do with Sony. This was due to SEGA making their own sports games and EA wanting to release them exclusively. And why weren't they on the dreamcast?
lol @ "every system known to man" when you know very well there was only the PS2, dreamcast, and later gamecube. So Sony paid to keep those EA games off the dreamcast, meaning they were exclusive to PS2.
FFXVI is being kept from another console that it otherwise would absolutely release on because sony paid money (if this rumour is true). That is the definition of anti-consumer. They are literally stopping people from being able to play a game they otherwise would have been able to.
They weren't on DC because they didn't trust Sega after multiple failures. It had nothing to do with Sony or they'd have also paid them to stay off of GC and Xbox. And why weren't they on the dreamcast?
