It's not a very good game, for the most part. The worst "modern"/3D FF until 13.
I'd imagine that probably factors in there somewhere.

Hm. As a player, I don't remember having much of a choice when it came to the big bad being a nanny who used to take care of your whole party at an orphanage, or whatever the fuck the story for this game was.

It belongs in that list amongst the best but it's not 3rd by a long shot.

Like others said, FFVIII is the only one they truly needs a full remake.

FFVI, IX, Chrono Trigger and Xenogears could be done in the same 2D-3D style as Star Ocean 2 R or upcoming DQ3 (where the f is this game?!).

IX really mainly needs small tweaks to gameplay for QoL and well done upscale to background textures. Which is kind of already there on PC with mods.

VI, VII and Tactics are perfect, everything else has flaws and is just a matter of preferences.


For example: VIII has balance issues, while XIII is too linear, IX is a little boring, XII has Vaan, X has Meg Ryan and so on.

FF8 is probably my favourite FF, along with 9 so Id love to see it happen.

Id still love to see IX done in a Dragons Quest XI kind of art style, it doesnt need a huge budget like FF7 remake etc.

I can somewhat understand FFIX even though I hate that game, but why FFX? The game is fine as is. All that would need upgrading is graphics and some loading screens. Otherwise they have to change the combat system, which isn't the selling point of the game.

Now FFVIII... That's a game that could really use a remaking.

9 was a boring slog. An over reaction to the extreme chances 7 and 8 took, 9 was mind-numbingly safe and uninteresting. Absolutely nothing unique or special about it. As generic as they come. So obviously, gamers love that one.

Without breaking the junction system in 2 hours Viii wouldn't be Viii tbh lol
