I think it has everything to do with m$ deal, we all know ps5 is capable to run this game at 4K
The PS5 has a weaker GPU so it might not be able to run at native 4K.

However, if the resolution of the PS5 version is 1800p or greater, then differences will not be perceptible.

Bit of joke really as it's a current gen game, biggest generation jump my ass

Most performance get killed by this absurd chase for 4k, i will also be shocked if its a locked 60 fps in towns. Unless they drastically reduced the city's complexity over odyssey.

4k is incredibly resource intensive.

Shooting for native 4k is an utter waste of time when you can achieve 98% of the image quality without tanking the performance.

Good IQ and 60fps > 4k30
I understand that and do expect it with most Next-Gen graphically intensive games.
But this ain't it.

Lol dude, u clearly never played AC games, yet to see a single game that pushes over assassin creed visuals at the scope these games are.

You need a very beefy GPU to play current gen titles at 4k60.

Why would you expect superior graphics all the whilst maintaining native 4k?

If you want native 4k60, then you should be happy with PS4 Pro / XBX visuals for the entirety of next gen.

I think that even the XSX is upscaled too it will be a situation similar seen in XBX vs PS4 Pro where the XSX will have a higher and better resolution and assets.

The difference between those two is massive compared to the delta between the Series X and the PS5. Not even comparable...

It's the first year of next-gen. A lot of the games were not designed around it, no less from a 3rd party developer. Overreact much?

Seems like any reaction is overreaction to some people I guess.

Well if u look on Resetera website beyound3D announced that Watchdog legion is so far confirmed that xsx version is upscaled 4k from 1440p to 4k

it's dynamic 4k, apparently during the day it is closer to 4k but at night + with a lot of reflections on screen it can drop to 1440p

ok weird. especially since the One X goes up to around 2050p and only goes as low as 1500p

that raytracing sure seems taxing

Up to 50 % supposedly, although how Miles Morales does it is a mystery, thats why it will be interesting to see how WD legion scales on ps5..

well from what we have seen the implementation in Spider-Man is not nearly as high in quality or quantity.

all we saw from that so far seems really barebones, and if the implementation of Ratchet and Clank is anything to go by it will be extremely limited, with a lot of effects and even meshes culled from the reflection.

in Watch Dogs it seems like they really try to reflect the environment as complete and detailed as possible.

don't forget. With ray traced reflections, it can happen that you are effectively not rendering the one 1440p picture, but reflections in the visible region might also make stuff visible, that is on the opposite site (or around a coroner ...). That stuff must also get rendered at a proper resolution.

Or to take the other route: In the past, we had many optimizations based on culling things that are not visible. Now with RT Reflections, you might even need parts, that were culled before (and needed calculation time for this) and must get rerendered again. Also new parts get visible that must also get rendered.
There is a specific point at which Pathtracing is more efficient that classic rendering. Because you would really only render what your rays hit and nothing else. But we are far from it. But at the same time, we must now do both ^^.

Is why i think with valhalla both consoles will be dynamic 4k probably same resolution. Both will have Raytracing but due to more cu the raytracing could be better on the xsx compared to ps5. But ps5 will or may end up with faster loading lods and could or may have better textures due to texture streaming

Valhalla doesn't have Raytracing.

don't really care about 60fps for all games
But that's exactly what this is
We come from dynamic 4K & 4K 30fps to exactly the same 4k or Dynamic 4k but with 60fps on some titles with barely any graphical difference
Sorry but that's not a generation leap especially with theses titles that are based on current gen.
Will you be saying the same when Ubi push their Next-Gen engine and the resolution and framerate drops again?

It's weaker but not that weaker where 4k native is the normality on serie X and not on ps5. I really don't get it this general convinction. I hardly believe Valhalla will be 4k native on console, people should look to the pc recommend specs before to talk

What made it serious biz was sony shitting on xbox 1080p vz 900p and sharing games remember. Now Sony is getting shit on from the go
900p (or sometimes much less) on a 1080p panel looks really bad, this is true no matter that platform you play on... 1440p or 1800p on a 4k panel is a different story, still not ideal, but the panel's pixels are so small it's much harder to discern.

Anyway this is also different because:
1 - As far as I know neither console uses native 4K in this game
2 - Either way many games use dynamic resolution, often running at 4K anyway
3 - The consoles are so close in terms of processing that if one is not native 4K there are chances that neither will be

So the resolution "issue" is a big pile of salt that some want to bring over from the last gen.

Ubisoft games are hardly the gold standard for next gen visuals.

Spiderman and Demons Souls look better than anything on the PS4.

The gameplay trailer for Miles Morales looks absolutely bonkers to my eyes. Ratchet and Clank also has a CG quality to it.

Maybe I'm looking for that MGS2 moment
or Because I'm currently seeing less of a jump then there was for AC4 on PS4 vs PS3
Makes you wonder what happens when this gens ACUnity arrives

It's going to be harder to impress people with each successive generation. Still, most of the first wave PS4 titles look like shit compared to God of War and TLOU2.

Which titles? The Order? Killzone? Infamous? Drive Club? Did you even got to see those titles?

Not to mention graphics don't mean shit whether a game is good or not, you want to look at great graphics go watch some CGI movies instead, but there's more than that when ot comes to games, way more than that. But to each of their own I guess.

Already said so no way in hell that game will run at 4k and 60 fps.
People forgot that Ubisoft came on stage and said that AC and some other games would be 4k on the XBOX ONE X, many people run with that thinking it was Native.....Best is to wait, I think the Ubisoft games will run well enough on next gen consoles. PRO has the best performance in Watch Dogs so far, so a 60fps mode along with the RT mode at 4k native is possible for next gen consoles. I think the same will apply for Valhalla.....

I don't believe for a second 4k native will be a thing on Ubisoft games IF 60 fps or raytracing are on the table, especially knowing them. Maybe in games with more scripted/limited scenario but open world? Nope .

Those are first party games and yes they still look good.

third party titles looked bad.

Well those were upscaled PS4 games, which is also the case this time around, with addition of RT effects.

This will be the norm for both consoles the entire gen, so better get used to it.
