It's funny how people argued with us about this topic earlier this year.

We knew it would eventually happen, but people were in denial.
It will not go up as a result of the acquisition, but it can go up for different reasons.

And what are these imaginary reasons that Neogaf have come up with? Lets hear some. I need a good laugh in the AM

Damn someone from another thread was right Microsoft was losing too much money on Series X and artificially slow production until they got close to break even now that they've ramped up production again they've hiked the price. Sorry I couldn't give credit to that user since i forgot who it was but know that you're a scholar.

"I can definitely say we have no plans today to raise the price of our consoles," he said. "We think in a time when our customers are more economically challenged and uncertain than ever, we don't think it's the right move for us at this point to be raising price on our consoles."
"We're always evaluating our business going forward. I don't think we can ever say on anything that we'll never do something, but when we look at our consoles today, we think value is incredibly important,"

Spencer's statement about raising price has always been perfectly clear.

How is this any different to quite a lot of games this gen going up to $70 USD, exactly?

It's a pretty small price hike, all things considered. An extra $24 a year. I still think GPU is an incredible value at that price point, and I'll keep my sub. Especially when I can grab cards on black friday at deep discount and stack it every year.

And so what begins? Inflation 🤣 why make silly comments?
This you?
I say that's a bad move and is not going to gets sales back to PS4 levels.
It's a awful decision and one that will cost them market share.
I'm sure they will, Sony really are sticking it to their loyal customers this generation. Ridiculous first party game prices, charging to upgrade to PS5 version and now increasing a console price 2 years after it was released 😳
They will lose market share without question, the acceptance of this kind of practice from it's customers/fans is really borderline insanity.
So they are going to show how the PS5 is worth more than it was 2 years ago? 🤔

Come on, where is that same energy?

You were all over that 33 page thread of outrage. I bet this one won't go nearly as far. Just like the Forza "always online" fizzled like a wet fart and did not balloon like the GT7 one did prior before mods shut it down.

From keeping it every month, to only subscribing when there's a game I want releasing on the service.
Bad move Microsoft. Predictable, but bad.
All subscription services go up in price over time. I dont really get why MS get so much shit when they do it and everyone else gets a free pass.

PC Gamepass for example is still cheaper than Ubisofts service, and you only get about 100 games on that, only Ubisoft games too.

Seriously, take your pick with these guys, search "price" along with a username and just sit back and laugh.

I can’t believe they’re moving on to the squeeze phase already.

Quality has already gone down the toilet, and now the price increase.

The demand for the consoles isn’t there at the current price points. What are they doing?
