Resident Evil (Netflix series) teaser trailer revealed

BadBurger

Is 'That Pure Potato'
Yes. Also Lance Reddick is waaaay too good for this garbage.

I couldn't believe he actually took that role. From the very first publicity shoot and article (there were a few, actually) it looked and sounded like a collection of bad ideas. He typically takes on only good roles - whether we're talking about TV or even video games.

Well, I can go ahead and thumbs down it on Netflix so it will stop with the big half-screen sized promotions for it. No thanks.

I am sure an actual zombie with 1/4th functioning brain can write a better story than the morons who wrote this 8 episode torture session. I frankly watched for LR being in it....and man why did he even sign up for this junk? But must say the 1st episode was interesting...but from there on it was just downward spiral to an accidental comedy for a "horror" show.

I'm 3 episodes in and enjoying it so far. It's not fuck yeah this is awesome but it's got some solid zombie/monster scenes and I kind of like the build-up in the first time frame. It feels a lot more RE than the movies did. I do wish they didn't chop between the two time periods quite so much, give them a little bit more time to breathe.

Ok I have to revisit my previous opinion. Horrible series. I save the first 4 episodes then it become a comical nonsense. The apotheosis happens when the story twist are revealed and Jesus Christ the fuck. I thought they stayed awayed to the main game story because it was too much absurd to put on the screen but they literally used the most comical part of the RE story to build the most important narrative plot of the series. When I seen all the clone in the screen and Lance with the hair cut of Blade play as Wesker with the RE5 outfit, I wanted to die and kill the author of this series. I don't know own how an actor as Lance has accepted such rule in such stupid story. Money I guess.

Prepare your self. It become totally trash in the last episodes. It would be "the fuck going here, the hell is that shit, wut why" moments until the tragic stupid illogical ending. Unbelievable how a decent series can become horrible trash just for the script of the last part of the story. The last episode of Game of Thrones it's a masterpiece compared to it.

Resident Evil: Afterlife is, of course, a mess that is unintentionally hilarious, but the whale in the vest with his constant laugh shriek is by far the most offensive thing in that clip.

Rich is a fucking treasure you blasphemist.

Call me dirty, call me whatever you want, butt I play PC games on highest settings usually pulling anywhere from 10-25 frames per second.

I couldn't possibly care less that's it's "choppy". It's a beautiful chop...
Not when he's laughing like that in the video.

I'm watching the first episode. Depiction of London is quite realistic and exactly how I remember the place.

Edit 1: CGI is atrocious, even for TV show standards.

Edit 2: I'm enjoying the unlikable yet diverse cast. It's very 2022.

Edit 3: MEAT IS MURDER (18:30).

Just finished the first 3 episodes - the show fits somewhere in line with the films (also produced by Constantin) and 28 Days Later, but boy is it boring. I don't understand why this source material is so difficult to do anything decent with. Also, as others have mentioned, the CGI is quite poor and running zombies is a no-no.

I somehow did it. I watched the whole thing. Even if I ignore everything it gets wrong in regards to Resident Evil, this is one of the most horribly written and directed TV shows I've ever seen... and I watched the first season of Star Trek Picard! It feels like it was written by some 40-something year old who played RE5 & RE6 (and only those two), who is also trying to be way too hip and edgy with references to Zootopia porn and such. It's "How do you do, fellow kids?" in teleplay format.

The acting is also atrocious across the board, with two exceptions: Lance Reddick, who is WAY too good for this show, and chubby Umbrella villainish guy that dies in the 5th episode, who seemed to be the only one that embraced the full shlock of modern Resident Evil. The Umbrella villain lady, on the other hand, was just a walking cliche, though that's likely the fault of the writing.

As for the story... personally, I've always hated the whole 'Wesker as a superhuman' crap that was introduced in Code Veronica. To me, that was the moment that the overarching RE storyline completely jumped the shark into pure action shlock (as opposed to horror). So yeah, the odds were already stacked against the Netflix show in my case.
But I watched it with an open mind and... it doesn't really do as much with the Wesker kid stuff as I feared it would. The kids don't have enhanced strength, and the adult Weskers seemingly don't have much of it either since one is easily subdued by a pair of handcuffs. Albert just needs their blood to slow his body from aging because he's a clone of the original Albert. No, there is no explanation for the race swap. He's just Blade now. For 60% of the daughter's screentime, they're just angsty Gen-Z teens dealing with teen drama at Umbrella High School, and it has absolutely no place in a Resident Evil show.
As for the other half of the show, it's basically a bad Walking Dead spinoff, but with runners instead of walkers. The fact that all the zombies in this show are runners is why I believe that the writer only played RE5 & 6, because in 6 there were J'avo that could run, and 5 was the one that introduced all the Wesker Children stuff.

So yeah... in conclusion: This show isn't worth anyone's time. Don't give Netflix the wrong idea by watching it and increasing viewership. Just let it die.

Lets fucking go, give me that link Draggy, can't wait to tear this one apart, I read the script and I still have laughmares about it to this day, if its somehow even worse than that script I might injure my face from craughing.

interested rubbing hands GIF

The leaked script had a line about "zootopia porn", a zombie with a penis on its face and a giant zambie catapillar people, this is not a drill, sound the 'tard siren at max volume.
I liked the first episode and it has 2/3 of what you mentioned.

I somehow endured almost 40 minutes of the first episode. It's just as awful as it seemed it will, or worse. Not doing this to myself

I liked the first episode and it has 2/3 of what you mentioned.

It was pretty much the exact same script with some locations changed aye haha.

I watched episodes 1 and 2 last night and it was pretty bad, Weskers character is bizarrely inconsistent, going from cuck to bastardface from scene to scene, the two girls acting is average to terrible in parts.

The zombies are just 100% world war z zombies and nothing like RE, the main woman (Ella Balinski) does so many crazy stunts that would definitely kill a normal person but I'm guessing that's to be revealed later she's not "normal".

There was actually a closeup of a zombie with some flappy bits on its face that I think was what that "dickface zombie" idea was reduced down to.

"We need shows!! Our numbers are falling!!"
"Here's a failed script about some zombies story that nobody wanted."
"but it's too generic. It needs recognition!"
"hey, let's slap Resident Evil's name on it! It's super hip. Kids love Resident Evil! Just change the names of the characters and we are done!"
????
PROFIT!!

I watched the first episode... like... WTF is happening? did this come to be after someone told the director the story of the first 3 RE movies while being drunk at 3am in a bar, and then the guy decided to make a TV show out of it?

Just a little bit of background info: I'm a Resident Evil fan and have played most RE games. The only CGI RE movies I like are Resident Evil: Degeneration and Resident Evil: Damnation. I do like the live action 2002 Resident Evil movie and enjoyed a different take on the RE universe. Though I don't recall much about the movies that followed and how I felt about them concerning that particular movie series. I did not enjoy or care for Resident Evil: Vendetta or Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. I didn't watch Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City but remember being completely uninterested in it.

This new Resident Evil had me intrigued but I expected to be disappointed but wanted to give this one a chance. So today marks having finished the last few episodes of season one. Overall, I thought it was well done and I particularly appreciated the clever tie-ins to the Resident Evil games while at the same time being it's own version and take on the Resident Evil universe. The acting is really good, the CGI is decent, the story is fascinating and it did keep me wanting to know what will happen next. I like the songs and the connection in relevance it has to the scene(s) as well as the repeated imagery in the wardrobe or objects and so on. Not to mention I really liked Evelyn's wardrobe, hairstyles and Jade's too. So yeah, two thumbs up and I hope it gets a season two to find out what happens next and about how they will go about a certain character which is one of my favorites.

Tag, you're it.
I just finished and I found it not so atrocious. Well it's clear that it's not a masterpiece but it's without a doubt the best live-action adaptation of RE.

The problem (secondary in my opinion) is that it doesn't have much to do with the games. We find names drop, some small refs, a Tyrant Virus but nothing more.

We will still appreciate the pharmaceutical and business side of Umbrella well highlighted, the CEO is also the best character in my opinion and the actress reminds me of the host of the Devolver conferences ^^.
Production level is also not bad with FX that hold up most of the time. Some scenes are correct (the crossing, the monster at the end) and the make-up does the job.

But the main problem of this series is its heroine who is as dumb as she is equipped with plot armor. From the moment she brought the zombie back on the boat you manage to predict EXACTLY the course of the episode. Honestly, how can she be so stupid. And this is the biggest example but there are many others. I hope she's dead (but I don't believe it, the plot armor deflected the bullet into her belly so that the evil twin didn't kill her)

In short, it's meh. At least we avoided the shitty level of the last movie.

Also, everyone who hated Welcome to Raccoon City owes that movie an apology. At least that movie tried to be Resident Evil.

Not gonna happen, that thing was just pure dumbshit. Nothing to save. Leon in this movie is probably the most stupid character ever created, WTF happened in the writers room.

Just wanted to chime in and say that if you actually want an example of a show made for TikTok users, look up the show 'Boo Bitch' on Netflix starring up and coming actress Lana Condor.

Just take a look at how fast and manic that show's pacing is(because they're trying to keep a viewers attention every 6-10 seconds) and you'll understand why this new Resident Evil show is the exact opposite of a TikTok show.

With all respect the last RE movie shit on the head of this atrocious tv show. I don't even understand how you can say it's the best RE live show after seen the last horrible 4 episodes. They are pure trash show with nonsense twist and unintentional comical events. The show seems decent for the first half than it seems they did the worst possible to destroy everything it was good about it. Literally. I'm totally confused about the drastical change of the tone, it's like the authors had have a coca party before write the last episodes. And if you hate so much Lion in the last movie how you can give a pass to the abominition of Wesker Blade of Lance.
Oh and this scene it's another gem:
The face of Jade perfectly resume my feeling after I finished to see the show.

5 episodes in, I actually really like the show. I'm 100% ok with it not being 1.1 like the games, they story in those games is so bad, I'd rather hear another take. I like that a lot of it is tongue and cheek stuff from the series, the production value is crazy here as you get lots of post apocalypse settings.

I love the small stories told by the random characters in the world.

Thus far, this is the best live action adaption. Those looking for some stupid ass fanfiction thing, move along. The thing some of you are looking for is never going to be made and something tells me if one of you even wrote one, another fanboy would just cry and bitch about that shit. I can see how this is number 1 on Netflix right now and will likely have a whole fanbase that only know of the show.

Again, WTF happened with Leon who is sleeping while a freackin horde is about to enter? Who gets fucking ridiculed by someone in prison, and that someone steals his gun!! W. T. F. How can you defend this seriously it is beyond my understanding.

Yeah, you mean like the games? Because let's be real here, RE has NEVER been incredible on the story side. It ranges from ok to complete nonsense.

I'm totally confused about the drastical change of the tone, it's like the authors had have a coca party before write the last episodes.
Again, let's not pretend that RE is some kind of super smart, super well done story that takes itself 100% seriously:

And if you hate so much Lion in the last movie how you can give a pass to the abominition of Wesker Blade of Lance.
Because Wesker Blade is here for about 2 minutes? So it's not really annoying while Leon is the fuckin hero of the last movie.

All in one this show is not specially good, but yeah it's the best live-action RE. And by a laaaaarge margin.

I look forward to Netflix’s quarterly earnings report this Tuesday 📉

Fuck them I hope they crash and burn.

They ruined Cowboy bebop, Resident Evil, Death Note, and soon One Piece and so forth with their quantity over quality mentality, and not to mentioned inserting their woke bullshit on everything.

Things needs to change for Netlix and hopefully their lost in subscribers is the catalyst for a much needed change.

Apart from the diverse casting and race swapping, how woke is this show?

Does it talk down to the audience? Does it find excuses to lecture us about racism in the west? Does it tell us how evil ypipol are?

Listen, I'm not saying the movie is perfect (far from it), but again - at least it TRIES to be Resident Evil. The Netflix show is not Resident Evil in any way, shape, or form. If I had to choose between a sequel to the film or another season of this shitshow (which is a very real decision that will be made in the coming months), I'd choose another movie 100x over, because at least the filmmakers would try to make a Resident Evil film instead of generic zombie show #1295.

I'm on episode 5. So far about 20 collective seconds were spent on that subject matter and it happened within the first half of the first episode. By the time someone could potentially start getting upset about it they've already moved on.

Take a step back from it all and stop thinking about canon canon canon for just a minute. Call this Resident Evil: Alternate Tale or better yet call it something completely different if you have to, then judge it from that outside perspective.

There are good ideas here and there's a good skeleton and premise here that I would argue is actually hindered by the show having to please mainline RE fans with goofy sequences that felt like they came straight from the games. I've heard that the pandering becomes worse for the last few episodes instead of just continuing to try to do their own thing.

So far this series feels closer to a 7 at most and a 5 at least. With this type of camera work and care that was put into the scenery(especially in the far future scenes) there's no way this is a 0 to 3. However, with the writing being inconsistent and a few actors being downright cartoonishly bad, it can't be a 9/10 either.

I'm pretty sure when I come back my conclusion will be this: it's yet another case of everyone putting in a decent amount of work except for the writers, who wrote some cool moments and decent lore but ultimately phoned in the rest.

I think it would be great to have not only a pre-crisis Resident Evil game where you're managing umbrella, but also have a game that explores that far future where the virus mutations have gone out of control and you have giant lovecraftian T-virus creatures and armies of crimson heads roaming around the world. A world where people are trying to get by however they can, avoid these big threats, yet at the same time they are struggling to keep society up with the old ways.

Again if you take a step back and view it objectively, there's ideas and potential here, but in order for any of it to be explored in video game form the creators would have to take a big chance and drag their fanbases kicking and screaming into something great but new again, like they did with RE 7. We retroactively look back at that game with reverence but if you look at comments and threads when the demo first came out, the general feeling was that "it's not my Resident Evil."
