I commented on Reddit that the whole censoring Miranda’s buttshots in ME LE was a waste of time and the devs should’ve spent it on something else like making the new lighting look better. Needless to say I got scathing responses from many a white Knight.

I never understood what’s so special about Uncharted games, they are solid games without a doubt but nowhere near as good as people say. I wouldn’t rate any aspect of any uncharted game above average, except for graphics, they have always been phenomenal in terms of visuals.

#1 - The moment I see a pixel-art indie I assume it's pompous trash, because that's what 99.9% of what the pixel-art indie titles are.
#2 - Even pixel-art excluded, 99% of indies are just not worth my time, or anyone's time. Except for the devs' grandmas who always say their grandchildren's artistic crap is super great.
3# - I honestly don't get the people who are only into the retro emulation scene. Did you not play those games already? Are you really that far stuck in the past that you're unable to enjoy recent games? You guys sound like those dudes who peaked in high school as quarterbacks dating cheerleaders but 30 years later couldn't find a job or a partner, so you can only get gratification from looking at old pics or high school reunions to comment on how cool you were in the distant past.
#4 I thoroughly enjoyed Duke Nukem Forever. It was every bit of a ridiculous fast food politically incorrect garbage that people liked in the first game. And even when it released 10 years ago it already felt like a breadth of fresh air.

Kratos single-handedly put me off from God of War.
Souls games aren't "hard". Getting cheap-shot by an unpredictable enemy or an unavoidable trap (unless you knew they were there in advance from your previous attempts) doesn't equal difficulty.

Sorta makes sense. From the opinions i've read on the game, seems the rogue mechanics are too much of a pain for the casual mainstream public, while at the same time it isn't a very good rogue-like.

I thought Franklin was a great character, infact, GTA V with just him would have been pretty good. Trevor was just too over the top in an over the top childish crass writing way (It just wasnt funny, reallt) and Mike, while not bad was a too self centered (Which is what they were going for anyway I guess but it doesnt make an interesting character..)
GTA V just wasnt as good as the previous games and to think it's going to never fucking end is just showing how far Rockstar have fallen

I can appreciate the competition and how they helped keep Sega relevant post-Dreamcast but Microsoft+Halo is really the worst thing to happen to console gaming. There was a clear shift to hype + critic scores to be a judge of a games quality and now that attitudes seeped into Sony in a negative way since the 360 exclusive’s were overshadowing the PS3 for a while and late PS3 was a shift to equivalent of “Safe” Oscar wins but for gaming, even if I think the PS4 was some of the best output Sony’s ever done in the gaming space it was undeniably Western.

I thought FE: TH was just ok.
I enjoyed the school setting for a few hours but never felt as compelled to do everything like I did in previous Fire Emblem games.
I also somehow ended up without ever having a relationship in the game while still picking up a bunch of optional companions.
I just felt like I was missing a bunch of things and when I completed one of the endings, I just stopped. Past games i would play through multiple times. It was just easier to.

Retro Gaming is the "cool thing" to say you are in to. The reality is that 99% of those games are shit when replayed, with a few exceptions which stand the test of time.

Calling games high quality, and making it seems its worth 70$ or higher. When in fact its gets dirt cheap in 4 years. That high quality is worth as dirt shit price.
That argument honestly doesn't make any sense at all. Simply say, the game is very fun, and worth what I am paying it. At least that makes more sense, than calling it quality based of price. Is it honestly the same league as madden 22, which is 70$? That is what you are suggesting it.

Before I landed on console gaming circle, I used to play gatcha games. Wasted 4 years of my most precious life. highschool and college years. It was escape mode for me. But at the same time, harmful for me. Due to this, I tend to stay away from people, and seek quite places.

LOL. I stand by it. I mainly notice it because I've played through OG 96 at least a hundred times. I've only played through REmake 3 or 4 times. REmake feels like you're controlling a boat, a bit floaty and sluggish. It's not nearly as responsive as OG 96. Turning radius feels much more wide on REmake, OG 96 is much tighter in that regard.

Yeah, and the funny thing about that is that liberal progressive types used to be the ones promoting sexy females, sexual content, nudity, promiscuity, etc. Think about it, it’s the whole reason that Mass Effect had that type of content in the game in the first place, all those years ago. Ah. Another one is that I don't think Pokemon has to drastically change at all and never liked any of these mockup screenshots or ideas I've seen by people. The charm of the IP and its games have never been lost and for me that's because they've stuck with the format, style, etc.

BOTW is a good physics engine but a mediocre open world game that got all the love it did because its a zelda title. GOT which does a similar design with its open world was far better but rated way worse? Makes no sense.

With specs getting better and the advancement of time, a dedicated handheld that has all the needed buttons for 1:1 input, is shaped comfortabley, isn't limited by touch controls etc...
I'd kill for a Portable PS4.

Not everyone is so fortunate to have had the time to experience all of the great games of the past. I don't know why it's strange that someone would want to catch up on some things that they may enjoy. You ever see an old movie/read an old book?

That would be my controversial opinion also. Nice graphics and great voice acting are all I could see they had going for them. For story driven games they have cliche unmemorable stories and no replay value. I had my first PlayStation console last gen and was completely underwhelmed by the much overhyped Sony exclusives in general. The only exclusive I really liked was HZD.
My other controversial opinion is I don't get the love for From Software games. I don't like the artstyle and the gameplay is just tedious and unfun to me.

It's not that deep. I tried watching the movies from the beginning, to eventually get to the end and see why everyone loves this stuff so much. Superhero movies/shows are usually boring IMO. Just a couple OP chads in every movie. I stopped on the 8th or 9th movie?
My commentary was mostly on the fact that people around here criticize Star Wars movies/shows for being "milked" and then get excited for their next copy/paste superhero movie or show every few months.

FE: Three Houses is so bad it killed the series off. FE: Fates was the initial blow, TH the knockout blow. Fuck that game and now fuck that series.
Traditional JRPGs are *by far* the worst genre in terms of what they could be compared to what they are. In a genre that is all about story, characters, battle systems and leveling up, the story is typically nonsense that goes off the rails halfway through, the characters are lame tropefests, the dialogue sophomoric fan-fiction tier trash, the battle system is "tap A to win" with the exception of the final boss, and the levelling is railroaded with no interesting build options. They're a fucking disaster.
One that would be equally hated on Era as on here:
Joel got exactly what was coming to him, and Ellie is a despicable, boring, violent, dull-witted piece of shit. She was annoying even as a kid. Abby was a sweetheart from the start. Shame the game decided we needed 10 hours of her being Mary Sue to convince us of what we already knew. And fuck all that god-awful Joel-worship in those shitty flashbacks. Fuck Joel. God, I hated TLOU2 lol.

I'm not gonna cart a portable monitor around say like a surface pro laptop/tablet for remote play, and a ps4 pad. That's what I have to suffer with now, realistically, it stops me from gaming remotely. I'd do it loads if it was more efficient. In the bath, in bed, on the toilet, on public transport, while the misses is boring me to tears doing the shopping...
And I've used a controller clips with my smart phone. I've had a suction cup style one completely vaccume-shatter the glass back of my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, another one just lose its suction over time, or alternate holder/cage style ones where the tightening screw cracked. All leading a dropped and fucked-up phone. And I don't really wanna prop my phone into a little holder and play with my controller unattached, at that point I might as well just be back on the laptop remote playing, or at a TV on a desk like normal.
What we need is a dedicated handheld that has every button a PS4/PS5 controller has, shaped nicely overall like doesn't have farting small switch buttons, doesn't have cheap stiff or cheap mushy buttons like 3rd party phone holder shells have etc.
Basically we need a little bit chunkier VITA shaped device, with all the correct buttons, allow us to remote play PS4/PS5, run PSNow, not come with overpriced proprietary memory format etc...
A portable PS4 would be the dog's bollocks.
People are always gonna have their phones on them, we practically need them in today's world. But it'd also be nice to see Sony bring that former quality build recognition to a handheld too, instead of kneecapping the little shit before its even released, like VITA. If it was a PS4 Portable rather than a standalone OS trying to support its own library, half your work is already done for you.

The rest of the stuff I like and don't like seems to be pretty standard for the board. I haven't owned a console since halfway through the PS360 era, but right now I'd buy a PS5 just to play Demon's Souls. Hopefully we get word of a PC port before one becomes available to purchase.

GTA4 is better than GTA5. The story and characters in GTA5 don't live up to previous standards. The satire is more on the nose and worse than it had ever been. Now with Houser gone, I don't look forward to whatever they pull out of their ass with GTA6. Gonna be some multiplayer monstrosity.

The only superhero thing I'm looking forward to is the next season of Amazon's The Boys. Outside that I don't give one rat fuck about superhero films anymore. Fucking hell it just won't stop. How often are you in a setting where 30min+ gaming sessions are practical while out of reach of a PC or console which by almost every metric imaginable is a superior experience? And is that time really often enough that you'd rather pay for a dedicated handheld, purchase games separately for it, carry it around, ect, instead of reading a book, listening to a podcast, browsing, or playing some stupid game on your phone which you'd have with you anyway?
