I feel like sometime around the 2010 onwards most people forgot the meaning of the term "troll"
Not only that, but what sense does it make to call someone a troll and then argue with him? the whole point of identifying a troll is to ignore it since he is feeding on your attention, SMH.
When mass media started reporting on “online trolling”, the meaning was lost/conflated with the angry troll under the bridge. “Trolling is a art”, as they used to say. It isn’t being angry and hateful.

Dual sense is not this incredible thing.

Naughty dog games are boring, but get carried by their stories/characters.

Ratchet doesn't deserve 16 games, it should be ape escape instead.

Xbox should've made a digital series x instead of a series s.

The best playstation dpad, is the vita dpad (this thing is genuinely great)

Crackdown series was never really that good.

Fable 2 is awful (I much prefer fable 3 and I'll die on that hill)

Halo 5 is the best feeling/playing halo and has the best multiplayer in the entire series :) (shame about the forge looking maps though)

Forge maps in halo multiplayer, makes the experience feel a little cheap at times.

Kojima is beyond over rated.

The switch feels like a portable Wii u, but with all the social features removed.

Going back to the switch after playing series x and PS5 is near impossible.

I have grown extremely tired of games that have cutscenes as your main reward for playing, no matter how exquisitely crafted and voiced, and I can’t imagine only wanting to play such games.

There’s absolutely nothing can be done to convince me that Sonic was ever worth the praise.

Dragon Quest XI was just boring for me.

I don’t mind graphics that are not cutting edge, and I think the obsession over 4K and specs in general is not healthy for this medium.

I enjoy my XBox consoles, and Game Pass is perfect for me at the moment.

That the TLOU series needs to die. On a slightly related note, we need less games where they force you to play as an unattractive girl that somehow matches the strength and toughness of guys twice her size. Ditto for the same in all entertainment actually.

Similar to that, sick of seeing everything crammed to the full with "POC" and wamen, for example, in sports where they have little to no representation in rl (not at any respectable level anyway). It's blatant pandering and I doubt many peoples lives are made better because of it, dare I say some lives are probably made worse.

I cannot wait till people are treated as equals again and not singled out based on the colour of their skin or their gender to push some superfluous agenda that's really a front to distract from skeletons in their closet (see Blizzard). People/characters being selected based on talent, fitting the context or because they represent by far the majority of your target demographic, remember when things were actually sane?!

You said controversial!
And here we are again!

Every thread I read so the moment, on the first page, is this anti-woke drivel.

I think GTA games control like sloppy fucking shit. I don't understand why it wasn't until RDR2 that people realised that Rockstar's games didn't control that great. It really blows my mind. I just don't get it. Were people under some sort of 20 year spell? Even when I bring it up today people call me nuts.

I thought Fallout 3 was an abysmal dark brown/off green Vaseline smear on my tv with sophomore writing and voice acting that was generally worse.

I think The Elder Scrolls games are severely overhyped and play quite clumsily.

I think anyone who unironically enjoys Borderlands is a walking paradox, simultaneously way too patient, and way too entertained by edgelord teen humor.

I think God of War was so bad that I've never actually given any of the sequels the benefit of the doubt to try.

I think that I don't like Call of Duty.

I think Metroid Prime 4 is vaporware.

I think Final Fantasy XIII is a good game, and all the "datalog, proper nouns, so much confused," is overblown and makes people sound incredibly stupid.

I think Metal Gear Rising is great, but janky as fuck.

I think Resident Evil 6 is a fucking amazing game, and the most bang I've ever gotten for full price on a RE game.

I think I like Silent Hill 3 more than 2 and Homecoming more than 4.

I think Vagrant Story is one of the ugliest things I've ever had on my tv, and I watched Trisha Paytas porn on there once.

Switch's library isn't all that plentiful or compelling.

Smash Bros, which I absolutely loved on GameCube, is the same basic gameplay each time. Getting bored of it.

TLOU 2 and Uncharted 4 are the most deliberately dull games ever made.

Returnal is ass.

Dualsense is uncomfortable.

Mario Kart 8 is a good arena game but an atrocious racing game.

Original XBOX had the best lineup launch ever

WiiU is a worst Nintendo failure than Virtual Boy.

I find RDR absolute dog shit of a game. Tried playing it and quit after an hour at least 3 times, years apart. I thought it was just me and poor timing, but no, it's just unfun shit.

To make it worse I did buy RDR2, quit after 5/6h, uninstalled it and promised never to make the same mistake again.

In my opinion ND are an ok developer, but they are currently on a downward trend.

Their PS3 output was a pure masterclass with the Uncharted trilogy and TLoU. I think no one wants to be the reviewer to slate their current work due to this legacy.

Jak and Daxter the Precursor Legacy is the only quality game from that trilogy, with 2 & 3 being poor.

I’d say Crash Bandicoot is just a good trilogy, not great.

Uncharted 4 was good, and TLoU 2 is poor and contrived.

I fear for their future output with Hennig and Straley gone.

Nintendo suks now. The Switch is a regration after WiiU. It´s an ugly toy for teens.

Their games suck. Most of them are not fun but fan service. Art over tech is not working. Games are not only ugly but with low fps. I still can´t pass on the remake for Zelda Links’s awakening and how they destroyed it. The original is still better! Same with Yoshi, Kirby and the next Metroid is turning me away. Even with an emulator at 4K, i do not want to play those. Nintendo has the same problem as Sonic Team. They always want to be innovative even if it means killing the fun or killing a franchise. They haven’t always been like that.

Nintendo has not been able to transition well not only from 2D to 3D (gameplay problems, camera still sucks, controler not desine to bring new and good gameplay, games are not made with the controler in mind, online) but from SD to HD. Their very, very, very, very, very few 3D games are low tiers compared to what they put on the marke in the 90´s (gems on NES, SFC, GBC, N64, GBA…).

Their online still sucks. They can’t manage to make a great controler (Really Nintendo !!!). Screen is better but still killing eyes.

I have an other one. WiiU is the defenetive Nintendo console, one of the best ever create. It’s the best way to play NES, SFC, GBA and other 3D gems. WiiU means love!

If this thread were about movies we wouldn't get along very well.

I don't think you having negative words to say about a certain movie would make me dislike you in the slightest <3

And for the record, I agree with you in regards to Sonic. I had a few last night and was just messing about..

Good thing that we can disable trophies/achievements BS notifications (maybe we can't on a system I do no know about?). First thing I disable when I get a new console.
PS5's cards are the worst, because they assume all games are based on objectives and 'activities' which is obviously wrong - limiting for developers.

the only naughty dog game i ever liked enough to finish was tlou 1. uncharted 4 is the only game i think i have actually fallen asleep playing. i guess their games are just not for me but i can understand why other people like their output.
Probably because Uncharted 4 is not an uncharted game. It's just TLOU played by Saturday Matinee characters.

If BOTW didn’t exist and a dev made a game just like this but with original characters, it would be lucky to have an 80 on metacritic. A lot of things that other open worlds get criticized for doesn’t matter when it comes to this game apparently.

-Barren world
-lack of enemy variety
-abundance of fetch quests
-repetitive

I like the game but it’s not that different from other open worlds

Sekiro is at best an OK game.

Their direct approach of storytelling while trying to keep the mystery factor didn't work for me. Also the Dragonrot mechanic is useless and don't see the point of it

None of the NPC and most of the bosses are memorable.

Then the so highly praise combat is extremely boring and repetitive. It relies to much on the deflect mechanic (which doesn't feel like "steel clash" as it was describe since you can deflect almost everything not only other blade). Also the timing of it is way too generous. In addition your posture never breaks as long as you deflect, even if your meter is full so there is no risk to do it.

The only variety allowed in combat is tie to a currency you have to farm...

Art design is also lackluster for me.

Each time I see this game praised, I don't get it. Especially on the final boss which is extremely disappointed and hard only because it has 4 phases.

Soulsborne are the best gaming experiences I had in the last years and I love FromSoft for that. But their try for a new direction with Sekiro is a huge miss for me.

Post for the mods: I just received a warning from the mods for a necro bump, in the topic " videogame is an hobby for kids"

Dunno why and how, but that post was destined to this topic, not that, I was completely wrong :( sorry

Edit ok, figured out why

I'm from mobile and that was the first thread showing under this, I accidentally clicked it without noticing and posted there

God where to start?

Man, I fucking hate Halo and all games in this franchise. I have NEVER seen or understood any of the praise or reverence this series has received. I’ve tried playing and enjoying these games but they bore the living fuck out of me.

Gaming today will NEVER be better than the days pre Xbox 360 Kinect release (more on that later on). Traditional gaming is dying and it’s cause people are too fucking lazy to purchase individual games as they’d rather have short term convenience over long term preservation. Gaming on SNES, PS2 etc was pure bliss and gaming will never be better than those golden days of gaming.

Mario Sunshine is borderline terrible and I can’t see how anyone can praise that game in any way, shape or form. It controls horribly. Is boring. Far too difficult due to its poor camera and twitchy controls. Easily the worst mainline mario game produced. And I am a MASSIVE Mario fan. This game was pathetic.

Uncharted 4 is total trash. I was a huge fan of the original 3 on PS3. This game was trash. Utter trash. Over long. Extremely boring and not why the first 3 games were- exciting gameplay with fun stories. Most disappointing game of the PS4/Xbox One era.

Sonic The Hedgehog isn’t fit enough to lick the mushroom kingdom shit off of Mario and Luigi’s boots. Games were never good, not even the over praised Sonic 3. And I actually like the Sonic games (2D games on Mega Drive) but compared to Mario’s 2D outings, they were never in the same conversation.
Ok, now for the controversy- the Xbox 360 pre Kinect release was gaming at its absolute peak. Once Microsoft released Kinect they killed my fav console of all time (the 360) and in effect ruined the Xbox One. I was almost exclusively a Microsoft gamer before Kinect. That’s not all though- with them getting their asses handed to them they decided to never release Xbox One sales numbers and have now shifted the narrative to fucking Game Pass, and are passing it off as “we are the good guys letting you play games anywhere and everywhere”. What a load of crap. Why release the Xbox brand of consoles if you’re content on all of us playing Game Pass on anything and everything available? Then they try pass off streaming games as the next coming of Christ. They go buy companies to produce games instead of investing in their own people making quality games. What a fall from grace in my eyes. A console company I once lived has now tried to move gaming from consoles to a fucking subscription service. What a fucking disappointment Microsoft turned out to be. Traditional gaming be damned.

Side note- I loved my Dreamcast, but god damned is it an overrated console! Mega Drive was Sega’s best console, and it ain’t even close.

Anyway, that’s my takes!

The witcher 3 is a mediocre game

Bloodborne has shitty ps3 graphics

No one needs tons of that jrpg japanese shit on Nintendo consoles, and Switch like Xeno, the last something, shin megami tensei who probably not even developers' mothers wanna play, we want more N first party decent support for a start, and THEN all the rest

Kojima went from being my favourite developer to a complete idiot who repeats itself for the sake of it
I sincerely hope he's not behind the Abandoned stuff, believe me, because that would make me look at him in disgust for all of this scam, someone should tell him this shit was fun...like 10 years ago, he lost credibility after the Mogren thing

Online ruined gaming, many games drops in single player quality just to prioritize useless multiplayer, cough cough gta v

No one likes enormous and empty open world, it's not a challenge for who has the longer and bigger dick in the college's locker room

I agree.

But.. The difference is...

It's a game in the Zelda universe, which elevates the whole experience for me and I think many others as well despite it's serious flaws like you ones you've mentioned. Or maybe not =P

I have no idea what people mean when they use the word ‘gameplay’, especially when claiming that modern games are supposedly no longer ‘gameplay centric’ or something like that. From a purely mechanical standpoint, games have never been better. Seriously, I think people have forgotten just how clunky games used to be in the past. I’m replaying Resident Evil 4 currently, and it just doesn’t hold up as much as I thought it would; the controls are so cumbersome compared to 3rd person shooters that came out later. Modern games just feel so much more fluid compared to games that came before (with some exceptions, like RDR2).

For example, I can’t think of a single game from before the PS360 era whose controls are as fluid and intuitive as they are in games like Uncharted or Max Payne 3, or which offer as much flexibility (without being overly complex) as TLoU 2 or MGS5. Even the most boring, derivative, cockie-cutter modern Ubisoft game you can imagine would’ve utterly blown people’s minds if they could’ve played it fifteen or twenty years ago – and I’m not talking about graphics. The same is true for all these ‘cinematic experiences’ people complain about; most of them play so much better than almost everything that came before, it’s not even funny. There are a few exceptions, like Nintendo games, which have always played well (and certain genres like 3d platformers, if only because there are so few of them these days).

The truth is that we’ve simply gotten used to much higher standards. The real issue isn’t ‘bad gameplay’, but a lack of variety. Games (especially of the ‘AAA’ kind) are feeling more and more ‘samey’ these days, and the number of viable genres seems to shrink over time.

For real. You need to go through 7,400 different comic books, shows, and movies to even start to catch up. No idea how people can shit on Star Wars for milking the franchise when this fucking abomination of media exists.
That's absolutely false, the fact that you say this proves that you really don't know what you are talking about.
I bet you came to this conclusion because you probably watch one random reunion movie in the middle, like an Avengers movie, without having seen any others, you didn't understand it, and you assumed you had to have knowledge about everything marvel to follow it, but that's not true.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is its own thing, it's not canon with any comics or other Marvel Medias, and some stuff in these movies don't happen like they do in the comics anyway, they are really not related.
The only thing you need to be able to follow this saga, is to watch the MCU movies, and that's it.
Yes, it's a lot of movies, about 23 for the main "infinity saga", but it's really not a problem if you are into it, the movies are great and are all connected very well in a consistent, logical way, it's just like watching a super high budget show, with 23 episodes of 2 hours.
It's in my opinion an amazing thing that this project even exists, it's the best adaptation of a "comic book style" that could have been made in movies, having a large scale world with so many different things, all connected in one coherent saga.

It might not be for you, it's not for everyone, but it's moslty perfect for people who do like super heroes / comic book styles, and what you said in your comment was just a wrong assumption.

I think that the writing in the vast majority of videogames is pretty low standard.
If a game has a blatant "real world analogy" thing going on then the writing tends to be even worse.

So you end up with games that are trying to be social commentary being the absolute worst of the worst with poor gameplay and worse storytelling.

Yet people will then think that you are somehow against social progress when you point that out.

I may or may not have been banned from a certain purple website over something like this.
(Strongly disliking a game that people have deemed "important".)

The Last of Us series is meant for soyboys and purple haired obese women.
Number 1 isn't. Bruce seems to have reigned Druckman in as the main writer, and then Druckman.. to use a an old phrasing.. went full retard on the sequel, and you never go full retard.

It's literally a spite sequel after Bruce said the initial TLOU1 pitch (Neil's pitch) of Tess going cross country for revenge and murdering Joel wasn't realistic.

I keep saying it, but I just want Factions Game to come out, but the more and more time goes by without it, the more I fear it's not gonna be resemble Factions anymore at all.

It just means they stagnated and/or became a mushy blob of different concepts that all play the same.

Uncharted 4 is big step down from original trilogy.
Halo was always super ugly and boring looking.
Crackdown 3 is way better than it looks.

edit:
Also Spiderman had great campaign and general gameplay, but terrible side activities killed my interest for that series.

It surely doesn't help that most of the time all games of the same genre/camera perspective have the same or extremely similar control schemes.

Like seriously, on the PS2 you had some wildly varying control schemes on a per game basis.

Nintendo products and games only appeal to children or children at heart. People frequently pull out the vitriol toward them as a company because they expect them to be something different, then get hit with disappointment after hyping themselves.

(Don't kill me, I enjoy the Nintendo and what they bring to the industry table.)

I'm not for representation quotas, I also hate it when they make every second person black in medieval Europe (or when "reviewers" complain that there is not enough of sub group X or Y).

Also, I don't care one bit for what is called body representation, but neither do I care for keeping the bikini armor, games should strive to find and display beauty, like art should.

GTA IV is the best GTA and the game that really does make you feel a part of the criminal underworld

TLOU2 has some of the best combat I have ever played. I wish it had challenges like Days Gone

SJWs and Anti-Woke types are two sides to the same coin. They both want the world to cater to their delicate sensibilities.

Horizon Zero Dawn is better than BOTW

Dialogue options need to die! Devs need to create a character with its own backstory, moral code and personality. I really couldn't care less about this "play as the good guy and then play as the bad guy replayability deal" bullshit.

As much as I love Final Fantasy 7 Remake ( in my top 10 games of all time), I think Final Fantasy IV would be much more epic it if were remade in the same quality as 7 is.
