It is unbelievable somewhat that whoever thought the space-buggy you drive in Andromeda was a good idea, compared to the Mako, just wow, better defence systems, and the one in Andromeda a backward step if there ever was one..

So, what's the verdict to those who have played it? Worth the jump or nah?

I've played all 3, and failed to complete a replay of ME1 on PC recently - so just want to know if it's worth a purchase instead of me just using the 4k texture packs for the originals on PC.

Taking a look at a Mass Effect Legendary Edition PS5 vs Xbox Series X Performance Review where we test all the various frame rate options. This was done on Mass Effect PS5 vs Xbox Series X so we could take a look at both side-by-side. Mass Effect Legendary edition includes Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3 and offers a 60fps mode, or 120fps mode. The Mass Effect 120fps Xbox Series X mode is only availale on that platform.

So just finished it last night. Decent remaster besides its aged game play and all. At least I will have the patience to play ME Andromeda now, I dropped that one quickly back in the days :)

I forgot how tedious planet scanning on ME2 was. Wish they could have improved that somehow.
There were a lot of easy tweaks they should have made that would have worked wonders. One thing I would love is to be able to switch your class in NG+, but keep all the skills. In ME2 I'd also greatly appreciate them raising the level cap so that all skills can be maxed out OR at least make it such that you aren't required to unlock one skill to use another.

I tried so many times in the past, but I was never able to complete Mass Effect 3. I always just stopped playing early on. Last night, for the first time I finally finished the game, ticking off one of those regret boxes. I've played the entire trilogy for the past 3 weeks. I've come to really appreciate the Xbox Series X save state mode. I only ended up with about 7000 EMS, but I failed to do the Omega and Leviathan DLC's, so I am guessing the extra 800-900 I needed was in there.

Even though I finished the game, I'll probably go back and finish the Omega and Citadel DLC's. I also missed a Paragon response during the game that cost me at the end!

Great experience and a great value. It's interesting how quickly I accepted the level of graphics. I found them sharp and more than good.

I'm really curious how they can move onto a 4, if the game has characters from this trilogy.

New update for Mass Effect Legendary Edition mainly fixes a number of basic problems that some players have been having. Some of these tweaks include allowing certain achievements and trophies to now unlock properly, correcting the graphics in some cutscenes, and changes to the dialogue and subtitle options.

Perhaps the most notable fix of the bunch here involves problems on Xbox platforms when using a wireless headset. In the past, using a headset of this type on Xbox could lead to issues where the game as a whole might not work. Even though BioWare largely rectified this lingering problem in its previous update for the title, it shouldn't prove to be an issue whatsoever moving forward.

If you haven't played Mass Effect Legendary Edition for yourself yet, the game (and this new update) is out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Conversely, you can also check out the full list of patch notes for this update down below.

General

  • English spoken dialogue can now be selected separately from subtitle language
  • Resolved issues with unlocking some achievements/trophies, such as the Paramours or kill count trackers
  • Corrected pre-rendered cutscenes that were darker than intended after the previous update
  • Wireless headsets/devices no longer cause issues with the Xbox launcher
  • Improved PC performance across various hardware configurations, including on Virmire
  • Fixed an issue on PC where non-standard characters in the operating system’s username would prevent the game from launching
    • Removed the dependency on the AVX instruction set in the launcher
  • Other minor calibrations and fixes, including some instances of crashing
Mass Effect

  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from reaching the max level
  • Fixed an issue where tier VII Spectre - Master Gear was inaccessible
  • Various collision improvements
  • Fixed an issue that would prevent the ability to interact with objects
  • Lowered audio volume on Mass Relay load screens
  • Improved eye animations for male characters in some scenes
Mass Effect 2

  • Toned down the intensity of fog on Illium
  • Fixed an issue where a character’s eyes at the end of the Overlord DLC were unintentionally red
  • Reduced the max credits that can be carried from Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2 down to 100k for more balanced early-game progression
    • Credit carryover maximum now matches carryover from the original release
    • Posthumous banking fees are a lot! It’s a great way to dodge taxes.

Mass Effect 3

  • Resolved an issue where English dialogue no longer played during the Citadel DLC for German and Italian localizations
  • Fixed an issue where some key characters weren’t appearing as intended during the Citadel DLC

Platinumed all three. It is so nice at least some developers learned that achievements and trophies aren't supposed to be a punishment to players.

I platinumed the original Mass Effect on PS3, and I still don't know why I bothered. Absolute, chore.

The Legendary Edition trophies are all what trophies should be - do most of the side content, use each character at least a bit, check out some of the neat off-the-path areas and finish the game (preferably with a requirement of only Normal or higher).

For being as old as they are now, these games, especially 2 and 3 hold up to today's standards very well. Mass Effect 3 is incredibly overrated because of those last 10 minutes. The game, as a whole, is fantastic.

Why the hell did this game get three 10GB+ patches already? Are the devs incapable of releasing smaller patches or was it so broken in its release state?

Damn, I forgot how annoying the copy-pasted interiors in ME1 were (in the optional locations). Would it be that hard to randomize their layout just a little bit? It's like there are only about 3 layouts in the game.

I finished ME1 yesterday and I definitely had better memories of the game than what it actually was. I still love the story, the characters, (re)discovering the lore, the soundtrack and spending time on the Citadel, but there were also many things which annoyed me:
- optional locations having like only 3 different layouts is the biggest offense, really puts you off from doing optional exploration and quests
- teammates have poor AI and often they can't even hide behind cover properly (after receiving orders)
- some of the main locations look uninspiring, especially Noveria
- romances starting out of nowhere (Ashley and Liara suddenly started asking me who's my favorite)
- framedrops which shouldn't happen in a 2007 game played in 2021 (on PS5)

Overall it's a weak 8/10, thankfully I'm already having much better time playing ME2. :)

Damn, that’s the risk of revisiting old things

Top tip, don't play these back to back.

As much as ME2 is a huge step up I'm burnt out about a third of the way in.

Will give it a long break and come back to it.

Finished ME2 and this experience was much better, the game improved a lot of things over the first one. My original score was 9/10 and I would give it the same one right now. Story was great, Miranda('s ass) was great, renegade Shepard had some awesome scenes. Only small complaints with this one:
- It's a shame you can't talk to the DLC characters on the ship (they only respond to clicking on objects in their cabins) and Zaeed's loyalty quest is also very lackluster.
- Some quests focus too much on combat or they throw too many waves of enemies at you. This isn't always the problem, can be more of annoyance if you have to defeat waves of husks or other simple enemies.
- Most N7 quests are too short and lack good stories. In some of them you just show up, eliminate every mech / merc / blood pack etc. and leave. There are a few that stand out though so it's not all negative.

I loved the trilogy and have nothing but good memories. However, I’m holding off on this for a variety of reasons, but most already touched on.

- ME1 was incredibly janky even at the time. It will be a painful play next time round, and I’m gonna have to really psyche myself up to push through it.

- All games are very very long. Whilst there were years between the original releases, I don’t think anybody will enjoy replaying all 3 of these back to back.

One day.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition - Mass Effect 2 reviewed on Xbox Series X by Dan Stapleton. Also available on Xbox One, PlayStation, and PC.

Mass Effect 2 Legendary Edition remains the highpoint in an amazing trilogy, and its 4K makeover allows its graphics to hold up nearly as well as its strong gameplay, excellent story, and fantastic characters. With the DLC smoothly integrated into the flow of the campaign, this epic sci-fi RPG contains dozens of hours of exciting missions that explore the interesting backstories of your teammates and their respective alien cultures. The final couple of hours of the campaign are a truly brilliant culmination of the emotional connections we're led to build with them. If you've played it before it's more than flexible enough to give you a different experience this time, and if you haven't you absolutely should.

Yeah I was and still hoping Miles Morales copy arrives today! Will also go back to the world of GamePass no hurry to start ME2 even though that game was THE game that got me hooked on my 360 like no other...

Not supporting Quick Resume in this game sucks major ass. I am cleaning achievements, so I am doing shorter runs and it just sucks, when you also play other games. Not sure why it's disabled, it should work by default.

I played all 3 in a row and loved it. Mainly due to story being the main drive. I got bored a few times with ME1 but afterwards it was Michael Bay over and over till the end. Plus it was easy to link characters and events from the past so i knew exactly who they are talking about.

Yeah it's shit, also it has X|S badge, but it's compiled with XDK (not new new GDK), I guess EA has some privileges which other don't have.

Just finished ME2 for the first time cause of this collection and it may be one of my favourite games. Can't believe I never picked this up 10 years ago.
Yeah i love the mass effect trilogy. Its my favorite series of games of all time. But two is one of the absolute best games ive ever played. Its still nearly perfect 11 years later

Mass effect 3 is a much better conclusion than it gets credit for. It puts a nice bow on many of the series lingering threads, like the genophage, and the geth/quarian situation. It has some amazing character moments, especially in the citadel dlc. Wheather its liara losing it as she watches thessia burn, or tali singing to sheapard in the dlc. Javik is such a great character, its criminal that he was cut to be sold as dlc in the original release. Also you get a satisfying end to whomever you romanced throughout the trilogy. If i could change anything about me 3, i would give miranda more screen time and have her become a full on squad mate. Same with jack and grunt. I would have loved to see how they interact with the rest of the normandy crew like liara or ashley in the downtime between missions. They probably werent made squadmates for budget and time purposes

Currently doing a renegade bitch SOLDIER playthough on Insanity. Doing everything. Insanity is nowhere near as hard as I remembered it to be. Glitches have been the hardest thing to do deal with on Insanity. Had several fights where ammo clips wouldn't spawn. Played through all the DLC and all side content as well. Fixing to do the Reaper IFF.

No. It's not, the ending is still crap and most of the storylines were wrapped up in the laziest way possible. The Geth/Quarrian storyline was so badly handled in this one. Mac Walters was not up to the task of completing a whole story. Priority Earth is so unforgivably bad. Citadel DLC does work when treated as the true ending of the game.

Welp......just finished all three Mass Effect games in the Legendary Edition. Played as Vanguard in the first and then changed to Infiltrator for the second and third, but using same character I created in the first. Played on Insanity difficulty through all and Platinumed all three.

Overall, the games are better than I remembered. A large part of that, however, is the fact they removed the smart phone app part in ME3 that was required in order to get the good ending. Also, being able to play them all back to back to back helped a good a bit. And thank god they removed the Mako missions from 2 and 3. I think Mako and the ridiculously absurd terrain of the planets is the worst part of the entire trilogy.

Gameplay-wise I think ME3 was the best of the three, but structurally is was a mess. It is too damn easy to get inadvertently acquire side missions that can easily be orphaned in your mission list without any possibility of completing because it is part of a different main mission and once that mission is over, your chance to complete the side mission is gone. But instead of the mission being failed, it just sits there in your list. Thankfully this only happened one time for me in the Omega DLC mission. After that, I had to follow guides to figure out when/where to complete these missions completely. But that one damn mission that was never completed is tweaking my OCD.

I enjoyed the game overall. PS5 says I put 260 hours into it. Overall, I'd give it a 8/10. First Mass Effect: 7/10. Mass Effect 2: 9/10. Mass Effect 3: 8/10

I never played Mass Effect before. So should I go with legendary edition or for example the 360 version trilogy version?.

Legendary for sure. Better graphics and resolution, 60fps, all the games, all the dlc. Almost all the content we thought may be cut (like punching female reporters lol) is still in there.
Literally zero reason not to play the new version.

Going straight from 2 to 3 is pretty jarring, is it just me or does the sequel actually look worse? Also you can't holster your weapon? WTF.

Anyway, bitching aside, absolutely loving the series playthrough.

Imo 3 is a level above 2, although i prefer 2 as a game.
I dont know how far you are into 3 but keep going, some of the levels are highly impressive.

ME3 remaster for me actually ended up being a better experience than what I predicted (I haven't replayed the game since its original release). It's helped a lot that it was my first time playing the expansions and not having them in the original release was a travesty. They added a lot of cool and important content for the whole story (minus the Citadel DLC which was still fun to play). The only thing that still bothers me is having less team members to choose from than in ME2 (I'm not counting 'guest appearances'). It's okay if you have your favorites (for me it's Liara & Tali), not okay if you like to change your squad once in a while.

I want to buy this but all its going to do is piss me off how bad they screwed up Andromeda.

Andromeda is an Amazing game, it just has a diferent tone and a diferent goal. It's a "let's discover a new galaxy" adventure not a "WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE" all out war like ME1-3.

I've attempted to play Andromeda twice and quit both times. I'm well aware how I feel about it.
