I've seen this before
Officially it supports RT. .... also not even native 4K for an indie game.
Dude I see many videos about ElAnalist and the videos examples are completely wrong many times, he repeatedly uses weird capture almost useless to spot what he claims in the overlay observations. I really don't understand if he did it intentionally to drive a sort of a personal narrative or whatever he is completely incompetent. Its a shame not all light sources are being cast onto the environment. The analistadebits video example showed this very clearly.

Not when he made the video... he just get to the blog post way after it and took back his words on Twitter.Fact is Sony still told him where to look for RT and he said there wasn't any.
It believe the biggest issue was when he was caught using a static Series X image to show flawless 60fps when the game was not. Some Spanish guy that does comparisons. According to many he isn't reliable and the mods have stated that he isn't trust worthy untill he improves. He tends to spread misinformation with his comparisons. Like saying there's no RT when Sony said there's RT for GI for example.

What is bullshit? Sony official PR says Dynamic 4kPeople calling bullshit on that 4k tag when it's not native are right.
4k means 4k, not 4k with tricks or dynamic resolution, the same way you don't start measuring your dick starting from the balls, it is misleading for the ladies.
Actually Series X runs at 0p 0fps and no RT.Had this game been multiplatform, it’d have been native 4K with ray tracing on xsx at 60fps, yes?
The wording is weird on that. Redundant and just odd.
So much details:
Everything you need to know about PS5 sci-fi shooter Returnal - This Month on PlayStation | PlayStation
Fight to break the cycle of chaos on a hostile, alien planet.www.playstation.com
Like everything that depends on how many lights, bounces and so on. Can be very expensive.Actually It might be one of the cheapest computationally use of RT after audio.
Game looks good to me, but not nearly as good as people seem to think.Man I feel so out of touch. Nothing about this game looks remarkable to me.
Entire episode of Letterkenny about measuring from the balls. Dude is so happy to have an extra inch.People calling bullshit on that 4k tag when it's not native are right.

No the "our gi system uniquely adapts part. It's redundant, and implied by rt gi.Simple words are: They are using GI RT from selected sources, also they have RT reflections for mirrors inside the house. Raytraced 3D Audio? Not sure.
"Not even native 4K"... Because it targets 60fps which is more important than native 4K. Native is a massive waste of GPU resources. Dynamic res, upsampling techniques like checkerboard, DLSS are welcome features for smoother perf.
I enjoy DRS and wish they implemented it better on more PC titles. However for transparency sake they should probably do a bench and advertise the average resolution.DRS is the best thing happened to current gen. Combine that with elegant temporal injection and other reconstruction techniques and you have the best possible result.

It has RayTraced 3D audio.
“ At the bottom left corner of your on-screen HUD are suit integrity (health) and weapon proficiency bars. Integrity can be replenished or extended with collectables. Your weapon proficiency bar dictates the power level of the next found weapon, be it an enemy drop or unlocked chest. That too can be increased through items collected. Weapons range from familiar analogues (pistol, rifle) to otherworldly types (the Spitmaw Blaster fires a corrosive fluid that eats away at enemy health over time). The audio on these things packs a punch: blasts echo across valley floors and reverberate in tight quarters. Fun fact: Those reverberations are in real time, using a mix of 3D audio and ray casting, dynamically changing based on your position. ”I believe it has, so it has 3 types of RT so far.
Do you want this retroactively done for all games or just this one because it’s weird to start asking for transparency now when it’s been going on since the Pro and One X releases.I enjoy DRS and wish they implemented it better on more PC titles. I was saying no that's not what I meant.Ok what that mean then? How is that a "no"?
Xbox doesn't do that, why would Sony do? Also nVidia doesn't do that, they blatantly say "4K DLSS". Dynamic 4K is pretty clear.

I was talking in general, but if the cover says dynamic 4k it's all good. What is bullshit? Sony official PR says Dynamic 4k
I was saying no that's not what I meant.
I understood and it's worded weirdly and redundant.
They should all do that. Dynamic 4k is not clear at all.
Start being honest and clear now is fine.Do you want this retroactively done for all games or just this one because it’s weird to start asking for transparency now when it’s been going on since the Pro and One X releases.
I see no issue with that image. Shows native and upscaled fps. Nice thing about dlss is you can usually flip it on and off and decide for yourself if it's worth using.Transparency, lol:
Let's start with nVidia's BS first.
PC gamers are not used to dynamic resolution. It hits 4K and goes below, hence dynamic 4K. It's been there since a few years now. With Spiderman it was native 4K with RT, people are used to these terms, especially PC gamers.

If it's 4k while looking at the sky and 720p while playing the game is that dynamic 4k? Sorry for wanting clear information and less hype fluff.
Again it's not common on PC. It's also always an option on PC. Also I can assure you that you and the other fanboys beat me to it in anything Xbox related.Maybe start going to PC/Xbox threads and asking the same, really. You're acting as if this happened only now and only by Sony. Anyway, this discussion is useless, with all due respect to you.

Miles Morales was 1440p 60fps with RT with DRS, so lowest native resolution could go was 1080p, but for the most part it was 1440p with RT and 60fps. I think even NXGamer mentioned about it in his analysisEven if it is 1440p, 60 FPS + RT is pretty magical.
Even Spider-Man Miles Morales was at 1080p 60 RT. And Insomniac are pretty much technical wizards!
Had this game been multiplatform, it’d have been native 4K with ray tracing on xsx at 60fps, yes?
I'm hoping it's on PC by next year. It does look fun. When push comes to shove, noone gives a shit whether it's 1440p, 1800p or native 4k. Unless you're counting pixels for a living or you're a hardcore fanboy, it's pure nonsense.
Returnal looks amazing and is currently on top of my to-play list, whenever the PS5 becomes widely available sometime in 2023 or 2024.
I was just trying the Control analysis technique of how Series X can handle higher frame rates on RT mode when photo mode was enabled compared to PS5.Are you serious? Of course not, might even drop lower due to slower clocks with such latency-demanding tech like RT. Anyway, let's drop this conversation because it's a fantasy that doesn't need to be discussed.

Games are interactive and working in a very tight timing window, so please don't entertain that nonsense.
Downloading this granny.

That reminds me. I was wondering if Sony will eventually allow people to pre-load a game in advance if they are getting a physical copy. I know Xbox allows you to. It just doesn't unlock until you actually have the disc inserted. Would be a nice feature.
That's really nice. Never heard of it but overall I'm not familiar with Xbox.

RT GI has nothing to do with procedural geometry. Lighting isn't tied to geometry. The renderer doesn't care what gets drawn, it's still triangles at the end of the day.It uses RT GI, as a procedurally generated world the bounce of light and the Particle system that Housemarque have always been the leader on, would not be possible or too many issue/work load to manage this.
Physical discs take less than 1 minute to install... I don’t see how that can work.
You can start playing before or while it downloads patch... the exceptions are online not modes/games... most games let you even play while it install from disc.No it actually takes longer than a minute. Plus you have to install whatever stuff is included in the download from the server before you can even start. That's the stuff I'm looking to see get installed prior to release.
No. Not at all man.Who are the other two? I hope I'm not one of them...
