Am I the only one not impressed by Resident Evil: The Village?

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
RE7 was fun, so this one is probably gonna be very good too. Although I have to admit, I wish 8 would be more like 2Remake, at least in terms of controls and such. But I'm happy with what we're getting.

It’s probably going to be fun but my biggest gripe with RE: Village is that it just doesn’t look very scary to me. That’s the #1 thing I expect in a survival horror game.

Maybe it’ll be different at night with the lights off and headphones on.
While I wouldn't actually call it scary, the difference between me being completely unbothered with RE7 and actually rolling my eyes at some of the jumps it attempts compared to for example, I booted up RE2make after this demo and walking down the west & east wing of the Police Station ( And yes I have the OG soundtrack enabled ) is such a different experience both atmospherically and sense of dread, even though you know what's down there
It's just jarring, and why they haven't created a new title in that format is beyond me 🙄

I don’t know, I expect the story of the game to be very very complicated to give a reason on why we have different eras and styles all mixed up there. The Central European gothic, Victorian and 1950s then they will need to explain how a virus can make zombies, werewolves and women who turn into flies...so yeah I expect a very weird story that will not make sense at all.

The game tries to build fear and tension by making the main playable character weak but doesn’t seem fun and to contrast the bosses are very powerful, can’t be defended but they act stupid, following you, slowly.

the game is filled with horror movie tropes....

Come On What GIF by MOODMAN

There will be no "complicated story" to explain this pastiche of ideas, it will be will be hyper tropey/contrived as thats what they are setting out to make. This is also the beginning of the game, and think its going against the very idea of the game to be OP anyway. This series isn't set in reality, trying to make a serious/grounded RE game is bound to fail and they shouldn't attempt that imo.

You wayched a lot from this game and got tired of it, i never watch more than 1 or 2 trailers of a game i know i'll buy like Witcher 3 and CP2077, i skipped most of their trailers and loved them when both came out, CP2077 needed fixing and i don't mind waiting

i love how dusk golem made it sound like they were trying to port this game to last-gen consoles when this shit clearly is a port from the last-gen consoles lol

Pros:

- Dope atmosphere
- dope level design
- dope monster design, and mention of course the Lady D
- Overall very top notch Art direction, (very inspired from Bloodborne too)
- Lady D, at least design wise she looks cool. And it's kind of unusual to have bosses like that in gaming wich make her even more special

*Tho about Lady D I don't want to hype myself too much about Lady D because she may end up nothing, like just a boss that follow all time and then she turn into ugly monster that you kill, in RE5 i was super hype about Irvin i though he's gonna end up being one of the best vilain in RE history, i'm fan of Scarface and the dude looked like Tony so i was so hype, but man that character ended being instead one of the most forgettable vilain in RE history lol, thankfully Wesker was there and level up super high the game.

So yeah Lady D, design wise sure she super cool, i love the big hat thing it's like Bayonetta n bayonetta 2 intro like classy AF, but outside of that dunno, like she may as well end being as much as forgettable as Irvin once you beat the game, i could be wrong, or right, dunno but i just don't want to hype myself about her.Capcom got me once, they ain't got me no more with that shiet.

Cons:

- It's FPS
- Ennemies seems repetetif sometimes (but maybe it's just a demo)
- And it's... FPS

I'm right there with you. I didn't enjoy RE7 minus a few moments, and I don't see enough redeeming qualities in Village to care about it.

It's growing on me, based on the gameplay demo. It made me want to give RE7 another chance, which I did and so far I'm almost caught up to where I last left off (started it from the beginning again because it's been so long since I last played) and now I want more of that gameplay which Village looks like it'll deliver but expanded on

I am worried, especially since there will be a stalker character again. Many people might love that, but I hate it, since I want to carefully check the rooms and environments and don}t want to be disturbed by a stalker character, who just forces me to run outside a little bit and return later again. They should give people the option to disable or enable the stalker character...

I have the game on pre-order and I hope the stalker character is indeed just a small section of the game. Don't like it either.

I’m worried that fighting the normal enemies wouldn’t be as satisfying as RE7. They barely flinch when you damage them and it feels spongey.

The Molded are basically blobs of biojuice so their them taking a lot of ammo to take down is justifiable.

The Lycans though. They’re recognizably humanoid with human limbs and human nerves. Having them survive a shotgun blast to the face because of RNG just

You think that by giving them high agility and speed, the devs would find a counterbalance like making them easier to stagger, but from what I’ve seen in the demo, your attack barely flinches them.

Or maybe after all those upgrades, it might feel better, who knows? Fingers crossed from here on out.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
why is it surprising that you dont like the game?
there are also people who doesnt like god of war or horizon etc....

The game just dont click with you., nothing surprising here.

Just like how people saying returnal does not look like an 70 dollar game but it looks amazing and interesting for the others.

Yes, people have different opinions. It can be interesting discussing them on a gaming discussion forum.

I have no desire to play this game on a flat screen

so anything on a flat screen was going to disappointment anyway

waiting for the VR announcement before i spend my money

I think it looks great, personally. The visuals, the atmosphere, the vibe. It feels like it could potentially be RE7+RE4.

I know a lot of people weren't onboard with RE going FPS, and that's fine. But I think 7 brought back survival horror roots that went astray in the later entries in the series.

I think some people have been abnormally harsh on RE8. But, it is what it is. I'm hyped that there's a game I'm looking forward to that's dropping in a few weeks.

Yeah, same. I couldn’t really get into RE7 for that reason.
This maybe just my taste but in order for me get in to survival horror games I need to able to see my character and care about them. in FPS horror games they are just faceless nobody I couldn't care less which makes it very hard for me fear for their safety.

Again this is mostly Me problem but its my big reason why I can't never get in to first person horror games like Outlast and RE7.....I just can't.

Original Evil Within has its issues but I vastly, vastly prefer that game over RE7 and upcoming RE8.

Personally, I went from not giving a shit about it to being highly impressed, and it wasn't the graphics so much as the production value and animation quality I've seen from the PS5 demo. I'm a little torn whether to support it or not though after the shady sounding stuff in that contract between Capcom and Sony, if it turns out to be legit though, but I am quite impressed with the game so far, a lot more than I was expecting to be honestly.

It looks fine. I don't expect RE2 or RE4 here, but hopefully it's better than RE7 that grew worse after that amazing first hour or so.

I mean, it's a cross gen game...it looks alright graphically, but the setting and mechanics look quite fun.
I hope they did without the generic enemies of 7 like mold monsters.

I just can't care about a Resident Evil FPS.

I love RE since the first one until Code Veronica/Zero (Yeah, I liked this one too). 4, 5 and seven might be good games, but as a RE I just can't care enough. Village is in the same boat.

That being said, waiting 4's Remake and I really wish that they do a complete reboot on 4, if they do a remake.

The game has very mixed graphics, the difference between highest highs and lowest lows is huge, the game never looks like it's a proper PS5 game, but does look like something straight from PS3 quite often, and the graphics completely kill the vibe, it's like those old Godzilla movies from the 70s-80s where nowadays you just laugh out loud seeing a guy dressed as a lizard, but back in those days it felt real and frightening as hell, now fast forward to today with those lame ass graphics the game is barely scary anymore, there are indies that look way better than this... Also the forced narrow FOV in horror games is already becoming boring/cheap way to try to make the game scarier than it actually is, wider the FOV or add 21:9 aspect ratio and there's nothing left from the horror genre. The story looks interesting tho and seems to be well told, but that's about it.

They think that they can get away with shitty combat because the game is a survival horror where in theory you avoid enemies more than fighting them, the reality is a bit different tho.

I didn't like it either and the demo time limit was a very annoying factor that pushed me away. I'll obviously get the game....but not at launch and it will be on PC.

Played the demo on my PS5 and Oled.
Kinda meh....
Looks like the target is ps4

All cross gen games are built for the last gen consoles...

All of them, play the V and XseX for FPS advantages, Res boosts and RTing...

When we start getting new engines you'll really start to see what these consoles can do, (look at Returnal,Medium,DemonsSouls and Ratchet for a snaek peek) but for now almost all third party and cross gen will look last gen, because it is.

My thoughts on this game.

So no
I was a little in agreement with you there until you said The last of us 2, then I pissed my self laughing. So what are you saying? Graphics dont matter, but only when it's the last of us 2? Or are you talking about Tlou 2's shit writing?

If thats the case, more laughing ensues.

I watched Max Dood play through the most recent demo and that convinced me the game wouldn't be for me. Graphically, I think it's stunning and I'm always amazed by what the RE Engine is capable, but the game design isn't for me. The spongey enemies and tight FOV from VII remain, along with 'rinse your hand to heal mechanics' that will never not look extremely odd to me. I love the franchise and had a blast with the remake of RE2, but these first-person branch of it does nothing for me.

I'm not convinced that the move to first person does the series any favours. Lets wait and see, but I found 7 to be lacking in tension, after initial impressions.

I personally liked it. I want to see a full-fledged game. I think even then it will be clear how good the story will be.

It looks nice and all but i don't care about warewolves.

That tall meme lady is also pretty lame, dunno why everyone is obsessed with her.
She's a tall and powerful woman who constantly makes a white man run away from her in fear before tearing him to shreds. And (as a bonus) isn't dressed like a total slut. That makes her a hero in the eyes of certain people.

Personally, I like her. But I don't bother with social media very much in order not to dislike her (I call it, the 'Astarion Effect').
