Started running badly on my pro, after I swithed back to 2160p, while in the middle of the Watson doing side quests, texture pop in and what not that was hard to ignore. Turned off my PRO, went and made a cup of tea and back in now, everything is sorted again. Things are only popping in way off in the distance but it's all good in the immeadiate area where there is a big circular building piece.

I’m hooked now. I really didn’t like the first few hours. I’m always like that with games - if I love them at first it’s usually a bad sign for things to come.

A couple of crashes on PS5, both while driving around (internal view). The frame rate is fine, the resolution is a mixed bag but I can live with it.

I wish I had the willpower to wait for then next gen upgrade but Keanu took any chance of that happening away.

Installed my emergency 3070 today. This game looks fucking bananas. Worth taking the performance hit, honestly, everything cranked nearly all the way up and I can still get 30 while driving, 45-60 indoors at 1440p.

These don't even really do it justice.

My copy arrived. I popped it into my Switch, oops, base PS4 (sorry, brainfart) and it's installing the data disc now. If I can handle Fallout 3 on X360 even to this day then this should be no biggie right... Do your worst, CDPR.

Are the side jobs actually the side quests or I’ll know when I get to them? They haven’t been anything special really.

I'm playing with a controller on PC and I hated the aiming ramping and decelerating. There's an advanced controls menu you can tweak all that shit. I just went with standard deadzones, then 12 X,Y sensitivity, Raw input, then almost all modifiers to 0. It's much better already. Probably could stand to have 13 or 14 sensitivity now.

I want this shit to feel like DOOM Eternal aiming and looking.

Side note: I was having audio crackling when using headphones plugged into the bottom of the Xbox controller. With HDMI and even "headphones out" to a soundbar it's not happening.

It’s a shame the media has decided the only way to talk about this game’s politics is by calling it transphobic or discussing crunch. The game’s story has a lot of good stuff in it that is found often in cyberpunk literature. Right now I just read a furious and prescient rant by a woman whose mother died of pneumonia being unable to afford the excessive health care costs. A problem that is very relatable to us now. This is just one text box in an unfolding narrative that is expertly crafted. Clearly they put a lot of thought into how this world functions and how these characters interact with it and feel about it. Like classic sci fi literature it uses an exaggerated version of our world to talk about societal and other kind of issues.

Shame that most “critics” are too lazy to actually look into this game with a good faith critical eye. Instead they would rather write about controversy, as it gets the clicks. This is why I have no faith in game journalists, they DONT use their brain, their so called expertise completely wasted. Polygon spends 7 paragraphs talking about trans people. Where are the “history of cyberpunk literature” articles that place the game in historical context? Where is the analyzation of the multi path storytelling? Where are the discussions about world and character design? Narrative design? Gaming systems? McFly?

These game journalists demand early access but would never use that to do actual hard intellectual work. Easier to talk bugs, trans rights, crunch, political topics. When in reality the game itself is filled with in world politics that are entirely ignored. It is a shame. The game journalists are letting everyone down by not doing their jobs. They could be using their history and art and game design degrees to educate people and learn more about this game but that’s too much work.

There is some great storytelling in here. Hopefully Tim Rogers is going to give all this the attention it deserves.

Few questions if anyone knows the answers
  • Where are all the bikes?
  • Is there anyway to customise vehicle's colours etc
  • Do you get to save vehicles like in a garage like GTA?

Anyone tried both Dualshock 4 and Dualsense? Any difference? I play on the PS5 but only used dualshocked 4 for some reason.

So the dialogue and flavor text and writing in this game, the world design, is that all by Mike Pondsmith? How accurate is this adaption, i guess, is my question. Is all this stuff taken from the classic RPG game? It rules.

I just found a terminal with the history of Night City and am reading through the entire thing for maximum immersion lol

Mike Pondsmith did story consulting and test drove the game every couple of months. Lore-wise, the game is an extremely, I must stress, extremely faithful adaptation of the PnP game.

Uh oh I stepped away from whatever computer I was on and left it on the login to the strip club website and the screen is just set to that now lol. This isn’t my apartment. Oh well. Haha.

17 hours in and all I can say is this game is fucking insane. It's above and beyond expectations.

I have the fortunate luck to play it on a relatively beefy PC, and so far it has been a basically bug-free experience. 1440p, ultra graphics with ultra RTX is just insane. Straight up crazytown.

The density of the city is just mindblowing, I've never seen so muc hattention to detail in an open world game. It's not perfect by any stretch and there are some rather goofy design decisions. But holy hell, what a game.

I remember hearing somewhere that the game has some romance / sex options. Anyone know for sure?

If so, I really hope Jackie is an option in some fashion for female V. I'll even duel Misty for him. He's a big, cuddly badass.

after messing with ps5 controller settings i simply have to put this game on hold until they release separate ADS settings and the next gen patch. jumping from ps5 games the last month to this hurts..

controls are borderline unplayable, sluggish, no snappy feeling, combat encounters are simply a chore to get through and the blurry graphics dont help either

Only played about an hour, think I ran into a glitch. Got to the first mission where your picking up that robot and I had to follow Dum Dum and looks like the door is locked and can't figure out how to open it. Tried L1 but nothing to hack.

The aiming seems really off. I guess I need to play with the settings but my controller is all over the place when I ADS.

Graphics this game is ugly on base PS4. This must be how people who play Witcher 3/Doom on the switch must feel like.

I swear it drops below 720P in some scenes. And frame rate really takes a hit.

So far the tutorial isn't really grabbing me. The aiming/shooting just feels a bit off with bullet spoonge enemies. The driving is pretty whack too. So hopefully once the opening missions run their course and the game opens up more it becomes better.

Whats the expected performance on a Ryzen 7/5700xt combo?
I have this setup and by default it was set to max settings and it runs between 30 to 60 fps. Great in my opinion. I did not have to change a single video setting. It was good to go "out of the box". Amazing.

Gen X

Trust no one. Eat steaks.
No crashes for me, two game freezes though, both during story missions. One was during the first time you get in a car as a passenger, the other was during the escape with the flathead. Outside of that the odd floating gun and the physics go up the shit when I bump into stuff like items on a desk. Pretty happy with the performance so far given the reports of how buggy it is. I'm on the Series X btw.

I did street kid. It felt right being somebody from the wrong side of the tracks doing whatever it takes to come up.
Having only just reached act 2, I can say I really enjoy Street Kid. The prologue makes a lot of sense but it also made me really curious how the other life paths end up at the same point.

Played for around 2 hours so far mostly checking various settings on pc but finally got to act 1 -had one crash yesterday but that was just a few minutes after launch so patch might have been still downloading on steam since it worked seamlessly today.

I'm totally amazed by graphic quality this is some real next gen graphics and world building. I didn't even skip driving home after tutorial mission as I was just watching city around me.

Went with corpo origin will be interesting to see if it has any story meaning later.

Yeah it’s more Deus Ex than anything else. It’s literally just a bigger Deus Ex.
How open are side missions when it comes to free form gameplay, interactive environment, world dynamic and different routes you can take? One article on pcgamer described some random job involving infiltrating Arasaka warehouse that really sounded like something straight out of Deus Ex ( he even mentioned using one of delivery trucks to get in undetected).

Really love the voice acting for the male V. It’s badass in a classic film noir kind of way. Kind of gruff like Solid Snake. Classic pulp voice.

His friendship with Jackie is really cool. Love this writing.

Also the first person is excellent I wouldn’t want it any other way!

So, performance tanks on ps5 when in the middle of the city, I’m pretty sure it gets to sub 30.

I’m not happy about it at all
