Goddamn Cuckmann driving a wedge between us neogafers. When the leaks hit everybody was just nicely getting along hating it, then the game comes out with all the gayness on display and all you traitors are like I'm ok with this. What the hell happened? /s

People were told they weren't allowed to hate on it if they hadn't finished so...
"That's a valid point."

You get the story completion trophy like 5 minutes after the moment you were waiting for doesn't happen.

And yet GoT sales numbers are steadily catching up to Cuckmans magnum shitus, with things like GOW and Spider-Man long having left it in the dust.
Anecdotal, but i just got GoT 4 days ago, and haven't been able to put it down.

TLOU1 had that effect on me, 2, not so much.

The only time I even cared about what is going on in #2 was the interactions between Joel and Ellie, nothing else. They nailed that, for what it's worth.

I don't buy that tbh. Maybe they did hate it afterwards but I find it dishonest to complete a long game and then say afterwards "that was trash I hated every second of it." Really doesn't make sense. Like clearly the game was interesting or "fun" enough for them to complete it . Like why complete a game if your not interested. It's dishonest

Motivation to see revenge on Abby could be a factor! That probably encouraged people to see it through and when they realized it didn't happen they probably reacted '...that was trash I hated ever second of it.'

The problem with TLOU: P2 wasn't really the revenge plot and Joel dying. It just wasn't earned - it wasn't planned like that, the scene in the original kinda shows that. I've always been interested in playing games that try to make you see a different perspective and P2 had that going for it but I feel like the execution wasn't that when it comes down to it.

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
Pretty sad that so many people don't even complete SP games

Why sad? If people buy them for multilayer, then there's nothing wrong with that.

It's like saying sad people don't play the online component in games with campaigns.

I think he is talking about solely single player games like god of war of FF7

Ah. But still, if people loses interest during the playthrough,or just change games since there's so many games out there.

It's crazy that the completion rate is that high after how they made us play as Abby in the second half. I was so dejected and completely zoned out, i didnt want to continue.

i guess the setpieces helped. they gave her all the best setpieces. lol

After killing Abby for the umpteen millionth time on purpose by clickers because I hated her character, I figured what the hell, and played through to the end. Turned out to be not such a bad game after all! Still can't really stand her though since it was her fault her dad died and she never understood that through the entire storyline.

Article made me curious. Looked up both the game and trophy on trackers.
While it's true that it is the most commonly earned trophy for the game, boasting a 76% earn rate among 60K players (https://psnprofiles.com/trophy/10960-the-last-of-us-part-ii/2-what-i-had-to-do), it's no where near the most earned trophy. It's smoked by several thousand different trophies (https://psnprofiles.com/trophies).

And yes, I know the point is less that it's a highly earned trophy and more that it's an ending trophy. Most of the first two pages above are like the first gimmie trophy you get when starting a game. But I currently don't see a way to sort based on basic story completion markers, so I'll have to take them at their word for the moment.

Her dad dying was her fault? Let’s explore that can we....

Yes, well. It’s an expertly crafted game that isn’t afraid to take risks or offend the sensibilities of some entitled gamers. It’s not perfect, it’s not as good as the first game, it sometimes tries a little too hard to subvert expectations... but it’s also the most mature game narrative ever created - and it’s success will hopefully lead to other developers taking chances, and not just regurgitating the same old, same old over and over again, to satisfy gamers who are terrified of anything that isn’t easy for them to digest.

I do love this game but I think that game creators will want to avoid the backlash so they will play it safe from now on.

Higher than 50% is inherently insane!!!
What do people expect though, super smooth and visceral combat plus production values that are out of this world and basically unrivaled.
There you go.

Her dad dying was her fault? Let’s explore that can we....

I think the logic there is from the scene where she tells him "If it were me, I'd tell you to do the surgery,"

Then again, directly proceeding that, her father exhibited all the characteristics of being a dumbass with his head in the clouds who doesn't listen to anyone because zebra herp derp. She probably could have said anything ranging from "Do it and I'll hate you forever," to "I think it's amazing when the purple stuffed worm....etc" and her dad would be like

I DO WHAT I WANT, YOU HAVE PROBLEM?! ZEBRA LULZ whilst elbow deep in adolescent brain matter.

Err, doesn't that mean that people simply aren't buying the game anymore? Games usually stay at a certain completion rate because theres a steady pool of new players coming in compensating for those who finish it. If the completion rate grows high its because the amount of new players is smaller when compared to the ones naturally completing the game.

Indeed.

That's why the game is disccounted right now.

I hated the story structure, hated playing as abbey, but still finished the game. Why? Because I wanted to see how naughty dog would finish it. To be fair the story was ok, but could have been done so much better. I really had to push myself when playing as abbey as I just wanted it to end and get back to playing as Ellie. Just because it was completed doesn’t mean the player enjoyed the game. I’m trying to do a second play through so I can get the platinum as I always do with ND games, I haven’t managed to muster the enthusiasm for playing more than an hour since restarting it.

I don’t. It’s a small minority who threw a tantrum because of what happened to game dad. I doubt Naughty Dog or Sony care that much.

We don't have anything concrete about the sales yet and Sony very much love their sales. We'll see how it goes in the long run.

The fact that they are talking about the completion rate rather than sales speaks volumes.

I didn't mind the game, I wanted to force myself through it (if you haven't played it you can't have an opinion, right?), but gave up after 4 hours. Modern movie games are simply not fun for me.

Movie game? It’s a 3rd person stealth action game that looks as good as a movie.

Why the lies bro?
