I thought the Xbox showcase would be impressive from what Phil, other executives and media people were saying...there was a lot of build up and hyping.

Overall it's not looking good for Xbox launch IMO.

Then you have to look at how many of these AA experiences are just timed exclusives.... The Medium and loads of the others are coming to PS5 too.... so I don't see a single reason to get an XSX, especially looking at Halo's showing.

This is just how I see it, you all know I have my bias but before going into this I was nervous about Xbox having some serious mic drops and it turned out to go completely the other way.

I am also happy with the showcase, but they seriously need to show more gameplay. I think one of the reasons for the middling reception was the lack there of. Too much CGI or in-engine footage leaves a sour taste.

The generation resets every time. That's how it works, lol. Sony know it best as they like to cut ties immediately. Well, that is until MS set a precedent for BC support. MS are the ones who let you carry many more of your games from gen to gen and they even upgrade the old games like Gears, Forza, etc. We don't even have official word from Sony on what they are doing for PS4 games.

Let's be real. If it were not for MS, Sony would not be pursuing it as hard. PS3 had it for how long? Just the discontinued launch console? Anyway, competition is great. I just want to play great games, again the systems release in a few months and these games all seem to be early in development/not running on the console they are trying to sell to me. MS screwed up with Halo and they should have showed a 5 minute gameplay of Fable. There's no excuse for those games. Other than that I am confident on the direction where MS studios are headed, they look forward to become an RPG powerhouse.

I hope Spencer has the balls to kill Halo and Gears after Infinite is released. The last 2 Gears were decent but you could smell franchise fatigue from a mile away. Same with Halo. Folks on the Coalition should be working in new IPs on other genres instead of Gears.

I guess Sony should kill off Ratchet and Clank and God of War as well then if we are going with that mentality...

SoD 3 trailer looked nice (obviously not in-game)
I laughed at the "Biggest game" Grounded thing, that game looked OK
Too many CG trailers, not enough gameplay for my liking
The DONTNOD game looked interesting
The Medium looked good until I watched the gameplay in the aftershow
Scorn was shown? I don't remember it
Forza should look nice, no gameplay was disappointing (and it was 30fps?)

Should've demo'd the games on the actual console rather than PC "with similar specs", they didn't learn anything from their last show, that shit is releasing in 3-4 months

Thought it was pretty good overall. It’s also great to be able to have a shitload of games to play at launch through games pass. Halo was not the best looker but the gameplay has me hyped. Avowed is gonna be a goty contender for MS. Psychonauts 2 looked great as well. That trailer for fable captured its vibe perfect and have a feeling playground is gonna do it justice.

Sorry but no, the MS show underdelivered big time. Even more so after all the hyping up they did, that Halo gameplay proved that cross-gen games WILL hold back XBSX games (no getting around it now). Maybe you should take your own advice with the bolded. People are annoyed and rightfully so.
Fable, Avowed, State of Decay 3, Everwild, Forza - all cinematic with zero gameplay. Numerous titles are a long ways out and haven't even left pre-production or figured out what their gameplay actually *is*.

Halo Infinite is an Xbox One game that is getting ported to Series X and looks worse in may aspects than previous entries. Fans have been annoyed with the low quality of 343i's releases for years now and this only seems to show a continued lack of care by them.

Games like Stalker 2, Resident Evil 8, Pragmata - all are games that are a good ways out and can be delayed even further.

Then you have personal opinions on what looks good or interesting. To me, Gunk, Tell Me Why, Grounded, Scorn - all look rather mediocre and completely forgettable. I had to go and look up a number of these titles just to remember what they *were*.

All I see are a lot of titles that look sightly better graphically than what we have, a couple of titles that seem to use the hardware in some minor ways (Ratchet and Clank and Medium being the two standout titles for this, IMO), and a bunch of empty promises that I don't trust either major publisher to deliver on.

I will buy both consoles eventually, I always do - but both the PS5 and Xbox Series X events have actively made me *less* hyped for next generation, coupled with the actions of both over the past few years and the ongoing culture war in western development studios, I am more worried about a console generation than I have ever been before.

If you are excited? I am glad! I wish I could be as well. I am genuinely jealous that you are excited for next gen. I don't care about the hardware, I don't care about flops or drives - I just want to see great games that bring me something I haven't seen before. So far, I haven't seen much of that and the little I have isn't anything that is selling me on spending 600+ on new hardware.
