You lost every right to have a fair discussion on that topic imo.

Many wanted MS to answer one question: Why should I buy a XSX in 2020?
And they had a lot of chances to impress, for example with next-gen graphics or several groundbreaking launch titles.

Some got their answer: They liked the announcements and don't care nearly all of them didn't run on a XSX and will be released in 2022.
But I was incredibly disappointed and don't see any reason to buy a XSX this year.

Sure, Gamepass is great and all and Halo might be fun (although it looks terrible as a showcase for the MOST POWERFUL CONSOLE EVER), but I'll get the console in 2022 when all announced games will be released. Until then I can just use my Xbox One X.
And after all the hype which MS fired up as well, it was just meh... Nothing to make the XSX a must-buy.
And seeing how everyone is going into damage control mode now ("early build" blabla, "This was no showcase for the XSX but for Gamepass, dude") just tells me developers and MS now they just didn't deliver.

But how would it have looked if they DIDN'T start with Halo? Halo Infinite is, by far, their biggest title. If they didn't either start or close with it, it would have just been a red flag that they had very little confidence in it.

I don't think it would have recieved any less scrutiny if it was thrown in the middle - it's still what everyone was there to see.

Plus, what else could they have opened with? Basically nothing else had gameplay ready to show besides a bit for The Medium. The Medium is the best looking game they have imo, but it just doesn't seem to be quite mainstream enough to kick off their most important conference they ever held.

As an Xbox main who usually buys a PS later down the road. I'd say Xbox had a better show for me personally but I wasn't blown away by either.

Halo was fine, not amazing as expected. Biggest disappointment for me was how far away everything was. Especially Forza.

No way they delay Halo because looking at the show, next year is going to be dry as fuck due to covid, it's always the same with a new gen but the situation atm has made it worse. Same goes for Sony both have nothing basically for a year or 2. Pretty sure both would delay if the other wasn't launching.

The first one is from Obsidian, whose lost my confidence afterthe bland and boring Outer Worlds. The others, one is a remake from two gens ago and the other smells of good old slav jank from here.

Why do we need exclusives? As an enthusiast, many of us bought a PSPro and an XB1X. XSX is just the next upgrade. On top of the best graphics, the loading times will be even more of a reason. The exclusives will come. In the meantime, they have a product that plays all of those games with worse graphics and longer loading times. It's called an Xbox One.

Problem is the actual showing of all those were lackluster.

MS hyped it up so much so I expected to get a taste of next gen--as in gameplay--but instead I got a bunch of CGI trailers and those that weren't didn't look next gen. CG trailers always tell nothing about the actual game, and sometimes suggest the game is super far away. No release date, no launch window. How can I get excited about that?

I feel like we had this discussion a dozen times in the past two days:
They showed teaser trailers that didnt reveal anything, and medicore looking Halo.
Yes they have many big names in the pipeline, but failed to show anything really.
This isnt anything to write home about and doesnt match the hype for the console or the event in the slightest.
It was underwhelming and people are disappointed.
If it was sufficient for you then you apparently have lower standards than most people, or most people have higher standards than you.
Anyway, this is the situation and its not reversible. Does it mean XBox is doomed? Certainly not, and I am sure they will redeem themselves eventually, but for the moment its a letdown.

Isn't it $1 to upgrade to GPU from Gold? Then you have to take into account how much the years of Gold cost you. Seems that it will end up being more than $2 to be covered for next gen. MUCh more.

The generation resets every time. That's how it works, lol. Sony know it best as they like to cut ties immediately. Well, that is until MS set a precedent for BC support. MS are the ones who let you carry many more of your games from gen to gen and they even upgrade the old games like Gears, Forza, etc. We don't even have official word from Sony on what they are doing for PS4 games.

I am also happy with the showcase, but they seriously need to show more gameplay. I think one of the reasons for the middling reception was the lack there of. Too much CGI or in-engine footage leaves a sour taste.
