Demo is fine to get a taste of the game.

I felt the zombies are a bit more spongie this time around. Nemesis is a pain in the ass.

Also the R1 mechanic didn't felt 100% consistent to me.

Either way really liked what I saw. I'll be there day one.

I'm going to skip this one, the demo found new ways to rub me the wrong way, the impotent "dodge" that sometimes works, but most times doesn't. Forcing you to select your knife every time you want to use it, felt clunky and a huge step backwards. Also lame zombie "jump" scare placement, I encountered this quite a bit in the demo.

I'm realizing I enjoyed RE2 so much because I had played it the most out of any of the series back in the day so the remake was a nostalgia trip for me.

Having a roaming Nemsis fight to eat up your resources constantly seems like a bad game mechanic in 2020.

Downloading right now.

On an almost completely unrelated note, I think HDMI CEC is a wonderful standard. It's so consumer-friendly that most manufacturers insist calling it something else - but if you've figured out how to enable it in your devices, it's a Good Thing™. But it's really annoying that whenever my Pro "almost wakes up" from sleep to do background tasks (like downloading a game or checking for updates), it fires the "notice me senpai"-signal so that the TV changes the active input. Even if the console doesn't properly wake up. It might be a "feature" of the TV too, but it's annoying all the same.

One of my biggest gripes about REmake2 was requiring ridiculous amounts of headshots to put down just a standard zombie, looks like this trend continues here.
I haven't read much else about the remake, is Nemesis a free roaming indestructible AI like Mr. X was? lol, that was my second biggest gripe about Remake2.

Not gonna lie but I'm not liking the demo. Zombies are a bullet sponge. Headshots shouldnt take 4 goes. Nemesis can apparently teleport now. Yeah really not liking the demo hopefully the final game changes my mind

From what I played from the Xbox One X demo, the game feels like it's studdering a bit. Zombies are more bullet sponges now than before.

I don't know if I'm just misremembering REmake 2, but the zombies felt way too bullet spongey in this demo, to the point that it felt annoying.

Did it studder for you too? It just felt off.

Just played it and it didn't stutter for me. I am playing it off an external HDD though so I don't know if you are or not. It felt less smooth than RE2Remake but nothing that I couldn't get use to. Also Nemesis is mean lol, Gonna wait for the full release to continue, just wanted to try it out.

It's playing off my external hard drive. Just felt janky to me. Felt less smooth to me too.

So, items are picked up automatically which still casts a lot of doubts on there being any item management like RE2. This would make it more faithful to the original RE3, but what I want is a real imitation of RE2/RE1 that I always wished we had. But okay, I'll play it. Just really hope there's good management/choices for replay. In fact the game might benefit from some sort of random options like the original in this way. Maybe give the choice to set the random options for speedrunners.

Walkie talkie sequences can be skipped, thank god. The dodge mechanic seems like it's going to cause a lot of grief but I'm enjoying it so far, just make sure you have space behind you to evade the entire wombo combo or upsmashes. Overall seems pretty good. Can't seem to kill Nemesis, but what I do notice is there is some sort of damage cycle so it might be possible? I got him past his stun stages and eventually he did it go down again on a knee after 5 minutes or so when it seemed like those opportunities were all gone.

Make sure that you change the sprinting option on PC. They have changed the way Jill controls. If you use the default option that has sprinting set as a toggle she will feel unresponsive when trying to turn in any direction because you have to both stop moving and stop sprinting at the same time, as opposed to just stopping sprinting into a walking motion. I mean you can keep toggle and tap shift to turn it off, but you're going to lose track of it, and it will get you damaged.

If you don't follow these instructions;

Items can be picked up in 2 ways. You can press A and you get the classic RE item screen, then your inventory, or you can hold down A (which is what I guess you did, there isn't an auto-pickup feature that I can see) and it goes direct into your inventory. There's lots of item/inventory management, just like in RE2. It's almost identical, if a little slicker. There's also the item boxes scattered around. Classic RE in that sense.

Initial reactions from PS4 Pro

HDR is nice, game looks pretty crisp (as expected)

Controls felt a little off for me. Maybe something I need to adjust in settings

What's the overall verdict after playing the demo? I'm seeing a lot of negative reactions.

I'm actually left really happy with the demo. I think I like most of the streamlining to the inventory, the dodge is a lot of fun, and I like how the city becomes an arena once Nemesis targets Jill. My gripes come from a lack of polish, like Nemesis getting stuck in geometry and then flying off into outer space, but I can see this game being the more dense and complete feeling game between R3make and RE2make.

I'm really excited to see how the park, dead factory and clock tower will look in the RE Engine.

Jill's running feels/looks fucking weird at times, like she's looking back and above even though no one was behind or above.
Anyway I liked the demo, Nemesis seems like he's gonna be a pain in the ass though I didn't try to put him down but I hope it works the same as in the original, I don't want to be running away constantly when he's around.

Just finished the demo, I enjoyed it. I've only played it once and because I was exploring everything and went a weird way around Nemisis only turned up at the very end. I'm guessing like Mr. X there will be an optimal way to go about things to reduce his annoyance, and let's face it, he's going to be a annoying as fuck.

I loved the classic RE feels of slowly exploring, funding items, mapping out the area, then Nemisis show up and it just doesn't seem to fit. When you're running away having something chasing you isn't scary because you can't see it, but then he jumps in front of you for an instant grab. Great. Killed any atmosphere, ruined the pacing. Unlike the original you can't skip him. Capcom, what gave you done? Maybe an infinite ammo unlock might make it "fun" but that would kill the rest of the game.

Not scary, annoying and cheap. Still... day one for me!

People who think this game has bullet sponges for enemies NEED to replay RE2 remake. It takes about 7 headshots and takes about 5 business days for them to fucking go down from it. Three shots in the head and they're down. Easy.
True. The best strat is to pop them in the face to stun them, and run passed them. Piece of cake! This makes the shotgun more valuable since you are mostly guaranteed a critical headshot.

EDIT: I gotta say, the more I play the demo, the more I love it! Stringing perfect dodges is super satisfying. Can't wait to see speedruns, no-damage runs, and knife-only runs. The producers of the game did confirm that R3make can be completed with knife only, so may that'll be an achievement (Ala, REmake 1).

EDIT 2: I think shooting out of a perfect dodge increases the changes of a critical headshot. I feel like I'm exploding more heads that way.

Can't seem to find what you're talking about. When I press to pick the item up, it shows me what it is on first pickup, next press places it automatically into the inventory. I can't choose where to place it. After an item type has been picked up, all subsequent items of that type are just picked up with no inventory screen. Might be clicking vs space bar, or something. It doesn't matter much anyway, the game design is changed to work with inventory not being of as much important, and you'll need to use the fast pickup for faster completion, no questions.

Mostly waiting for people to break out of bounds at this point and show us the gas station, the scaffolding above the ladder that is a return route and the area around the corner after demo end. Also open the yellow padlocks.

Demo is amazing. Game‘s gonna be a blast. Holy shit at the Capcom wizards make the game run this smooth. Looks absolutely incredible on my OLED.

Erm...... 5.1 sound? Where is the dolby atmos from resident evil 2 remake?

I use 7.2.4 dolby atmos and was really looking forward to this but wow am I disappointed!

I am definitely not one to jump the gun but I've pro ordered this game and having serious thoughts about cancelling.

Really 5.1?

I used 5.1 sound in the late 90's over twenty years ago!

Garbage news!

Played the demo on PC in 4K and by God is this game a showoff in HDR (I am on a LG C9). It is gorgeous.
But as a game...I am not sure. The zombies are real bullet sponges and not to mention it seemed to me that they get back up a lot quicker also this time around. Demo also crashed twice on me so I actually never got till Nemesis. If he is anything like MrX in RE2, I am going to hate it.
Maybe I will wait and watch then, I suppose.

I still don't know why head shots can't just be head shots.

This. 4/5 headshot to drop one is retarded, then if you want them to stay down you're looking at 6+ rounds.
Looks gorgeous, but I'll pass until I can get it on deep discount with some of the unlimited ammo weapons. Played through 2 that way and found it much more enjoyable.
It was completely possible to clear the enemies in the old games and not run out of ammo, I don't know why that became such a problem for them in the remakes, it sucks the fun right out of it for me.

Is anybody else having a total arse of a time with the zombie grab quick time event? The one where it flashes up the button and you have to spam it?

I’ve had it so many times, and had the bar fill and disappear and everything, and not once has it done a thing...?

In resident evil remake 2 when you shoot in a head the zombie ALWAYS stays stunned, but in remake 3 is so random..,

It never worked for me, one of the things I found incredibly frustrating with the demo.
