PlayStation 4 Pro Reviews

Here is my point in TLDR form: the gap has closed.

Yes PC max is still better but right now according to many sources not by much and most PC gamers can't afford a max rig (and certainly not for $400).

So I will still die inside a little but far far less than when Witcher 3 dropped and I was never able to fully appreciate what my friend saw on the PC.

So what you're saying is the PS4 Pro at 400 dollars offers a good value proposition for the hardware that comes with it.

I think this sentiment is shared by a vast majority of GAFFers regardless of platform bias.

Decided to wait for a nice bundle. My wife sat with me and we went through the screenshots and comparison vids and other than the odd situation where she was agreed there was a difference (1080p owner btw) she said "hmmm i think you are seeing a difference because you want to buy one" and she is right lol.

Just because the Pro isn't for you doesn't mean you have to pretend it's not a good move for many of us. And by the way it's pretty obvious by the contradictory nature of your post that you wish you had a Pro and a 4K HDR TV . . . like me ;)

For what it's worth, I have a pretty beastly PC rig and I'm still interested in getting the Pro. I can't lug around my Titans when I travel and the Pro fits comfortably inside my suitcase.

That and Persona 5.

I have a great PC that can play most games native 4K.

That said I'm still getting a PS4 Pro.

It's close enough to PC fidelity that I can buy a game like Titanfall 2 or BF1 on PS4, play with my friends and not feel like I'm missing out terribly graphically.

Before, I would often double dip, on console and PC. Now for the most part, I can be content playing a multiplat game on PS4 Pro.

So got my pro and everything and have been waiting the last 5 hours just to download a damn game. I thought I'd get better speeds on this over ethernet but nope, still the same old shit PS network.

Just setup the privoxy method and finally getting decent speeds. I have no fucking idea why my PS4s aren't able to directly download at my connection's speed.

Haven't they already said P5 won't get a pro patch?

The biggest problem as I see it with the pro is that almost all the games I would like to see and upgrade on aren't getting a patch. Bloodbourne, GTA V, Witcher, etc.

I think he just does not have a ps4 yet.

PS4 sold. As a predominantly PC gamer, I am looking forward to the Pro I'll be picking up over the weekend.

These kind of graphical choices are why I built a gaming PC in the first place and having them on a console is just brilliant for me.

I wouldn't bet on DICE spilling the beans tomorrow; it's hardly going to be Sony NDA. My guess is they'll slip the Pro patch into the multi-system "November Update" and make as little fuss about it as possible. MS aren't going to want their BF1 marketing deal to be upstaged.
Sony have said BF1 will have Pro-support from Day 1 aka tomorrow

Any1 here pre order off Amazon? little worried Pre Order didn't ship yet

I preordered back in early September and received shipping notice yesterday. I wouldn't worry too much - Amazon often will send items overnight to meet release date delivery. Just start up a chat with their customer service.

Yes, but I'm giving away my OG PS4, so it doesn't really matter whether P5 gets patched for Pro. PS4 Pro will be my only Playstation console, regardless of patches.

I'm glad people feel like they can have a console experience that is close enough to the pc that they don't have to feel left behind but for me graphics aren't the end all to gaming anymore. 21:9 resolution ultrawide gaming or 144hz+ is a place I don't think console gaming will go for a very long time so personally there's still a huge gap.

Looking forward to getting my Pro on Thursday. I work nights this week, so I figure I'll set it up before work to do the transfer, that way I can play with it when I get home.

God I wish FFXIV would get a Pro patch. It would be amazing to play that in full 1080p60

But this is the same scene though. Nothing happens.
Battlefield 1 isn't Titanfall 2

The dynamic frame buffer is not working properly at the moment and it can move from 160x110 to 1600x900 in one second.

Even staring at a place without nothing moving in front of you changes the resolution to 900p to 1000p just like Digital Foundry stated on the analysis.

Dice has spoken, they are under NDA (we don't know if it's a Microsoft deal or Sony policies).

We should wait for a Pro Patch coming later today or tomorrow.

I'm a manager at a Walmart in Canada and we still haven't received them at the store yet. Last day shipment to keep the associates from breaking the street date I suppose.

I'm also buying one tomorrow in the am.

I have a 4k TV but it does not have HDR, but I'm stoked about the graphical upgrade.

I'm sure this has been answered a lot, but please do it one more time: I'm getting a Pro tomorrow, and will be trading my old PS4 in. Everything's backed up, but do I have to set my old PS4 to secondary before I wipe it? Can I just set the Pro to primary when I get it? Should I just do these things online when I have everything else set up?

Deactivate your PSN account(s) for being the primary console before you wipe it. If you don't you won't be able to set the Pro as your primary console.

Thanks for the review! Great job. Now that I know that the pro would have to bypass my denon receiver for hdr, I no longer want it or feel left out. I have a great receiver and speaker rig for home theater gaming and it would be a shame to not use it.

It's obviously a MS nda, they're the one with the deal and don't want to lose the spotlight to their competitor.

it certainly seems that way. what concerns me is that they said the bf1 patch would be out day one and the system is already released in europe. it's day one there and no patch. i'll be irritated if it doesn't come for weeks. bf1 is a big part of the reason i bought a pro on launch day...
