Remember when they sold the game to PlayStation owners on the promise of Spider-Man?
That was a year ago.
I don't think they had a choice, it's pretty much marvel/disney that makes the release decisions.I guess it's good that there's an actual release schedule, but who exactly is supposed to care at that point? Sony was really dumb not to demand their character to either be available at launch, or be the first DLC of any type released for the game. Talk about your investment losing value.
If it was supposed to line up with a movie tie-in, that does make more sense. Thanks for the explanation.I don't think they had a choice, it's pretty much marvel/disney that makes the release decisions.
Like Kate and clint were supposed to be released back to back, for the disney+ show, but then the disney+ show got delayed.
Then the 'red room content', was supposed to be released together with the black widow movie in december, then of course that got delayed and the content got delayed as well.
The black panther content was slightly delayed as well, but it's also a proper expansion so they've been working on it for months. Marvel/disney clearly has a tight leash on what they'll allow to be released at what time, so they can tie it in with their theater/disney+ shows/movies.
The next Spider-Man movie is coming in december, so it makes sense for them to release Spider-Man a bit before.

I put about two hours into the game. I'm done with it. Game Stop will give me $8 in trade for it. I'll be happy to get that back after only spending $23 for it. I'd rather play Watch Dogs Legion than this.
Gross. This whole game was an absolute disgusting mess. I was legitimately surprised there were some hardcore defenders of the game on here. I mean, to the point where they were bashing folks that weren't interested in the game, lmao. Even after all the flak it got.
Trust me Disney is not looking for sympathy anytime soon.Marvel bet Square-Enix could provide an AAA quality production like Sony. They were wrong and there is still Guardians to flop this year. Poor Marvel.
The single player campaign and co-op (when it works) is fantastic. Marvel and SQUARES need and desire for a GaaS does not take away from the fact that the core is actually fun. That is why people defended the game (because at the end of the day you don't have to buy cosmetics).
Good one! Ahahaha omgYou guys miss LJN now hunh!
LJN Major League Baseball. You guys miss LJN now hunh!
Their games for the past 10 years have been subpar. From Deus Ex to Tomb Raider Shadows of Uncharted.
Same here.I really enjoyed my campaign play through on the series x, I thought it was genuinely good.
Didn't care for the end game and moved on.
Yeah the talk turned sour at once after they announced the Spider-Man exclusivity, wasn’t why it bombed but it certainly didn’t help.I would have bought the game day one had they not told PC/Xbox customers that they were second class. I’m so glad they did, stopped me from wasting $65 on this turd. I’ve seen it as low as like $17, no thanks.
Why (adult) people care about cosmetics in games? Usually the best suit is the basic one, and I don't give a shit about other outfits (not in GTA, Red Dead, Assassin's Creed, Avengers, Ratchet and clank, Yakuza, Mario, etc).
I see people mad about silly outfits that look like pure trash only because are behind a paywall or part of a DLC. But they looks like way worse than the free original outfits!
Cosmetics are important to you, Gaf?
Me neither. The only cosmetic I cared enough to download were free Xbox 360 dashboard themes. I think I had Gears, Batman and Black Ops freebies. And Titanfall had a good one for Xbox One. Why the hell would I buy a home screen banner for $5?Don't you know us gamers prefer to pay for cosmetics for out gaming avatars but wear the same shit in real life that we haven't washed in weeks.
But seriously yeah I don't get cosmetics at all.
it's very important to me, i spend a lot of time making my characters exactly how i want them to look and would want to have different looks for different missions/scenarios. i love unlocking new outfits or clothing options for my characters. i won't pay extra for them tho or buy any micro transactions because i could be buying a good indie game with the same amount of money which is obviously the better deal.Cosmetics are important to you, Gaf?
i've put a bunch of time in both. Avengers is WAY better. Probably sold more. Had more content and support in 4 months than Anthem did in 2 years.Game sucked so bad made Anthem look like a success.

Avengers has certainly bungled many things. But in hindsight, Anthem was even worse than we thought
This. The moment i saw the trailer i knew it was going to be trash and was laughing when streamers were praising it xD There was this specific commercial from twitch with this asian girl gamer don't know who it was that was losing her mind. At least she got paid.It was obvious this game was going to be bad and turn out a mess from when it was first shown.
in what ways do you believe Anthem is better. I could probably come up with some, but stacked up its a landslide in favor of Avengers. Obviously i like both of them. But i would say Avengers is a 6 and Anthem is a fun 4
1 it wasn’t a waste of the marvel licensein what ways do you believe Anthem is better. I could probably come up with some, but stacked up its a landslide in favor of Avengers. Obviously i like both of them. But i would say Avengers is a 6 and Anthem is a fun 4
again i would call BS. Battlefront II had everything locked behind a paywall if u didn't put in dozens upon dozens of hours of grinding. Imagine if Avengers only gave u Kamala Khan. And to unlock the other 5 characters u had to grind for 200hrs? By the time u get thru the 11hr campaign and grind a little u have unlocked countless skins, emotes etc in Avengers. In the same amount of time u would be lucky to have unlocked 1 or 2 skins and emotes in Star wars at launch. Avengers doesn't put a paywall or HUGE game investment in gameplay elements. The closest thing is the takedownsEA Star Wars Battlefront II at launch looks like an amazing game compared to this.
Just think about that.
wish I had a company of people dedicated to milking meThey're desperately trying to get their investment back. In order to do that, they have to milk the 3 or so players that are still playing as hard as they can.
1: thats just like, ur opinion man. It hasn't been a year yet. They've given u 8 fleshed out characters so far with unique movesets. The campaign wasn't the best. But it was good. I didn't know who Kamala was before this game. And now i sorta get it.1 it wasn’t a waste of the marvel license
2 the traversal in Anthem still has not fount an equal in any game (even iron man in avengers felt like a KO compared to javelins)
3 few games come close to matching you feeling like a bad ass like anthem. Marvel has the avengers fighting fucking robots… what a complete waste.
4 it’s a beautiful game, still looks amazing today (avenger just looks bad)
How does the core gameplay loop deliver, though? That's the difference.again i would call BS. its a little of potatoes potahtoes there. Since ur comparing a third person action game and an online shooter. I will say i think Battlefront has my least favorite and worst Feel to an online shooter out of any other modern shooter i've played. It is wholly unsatisfying to shoot ppl in Star wars. I've played PS2 online shooters that felt better than that. How does the core gameplay loop deliver, though? That's the difference.
I cannot fathom just how bad this game is a dumpster fire of a game.
I'm reading the subreddits for this and just feel bad for the fans.
and this is the type of skins they put out on the marketplace, mind you.
They put out a statement saying that skins have to go through a strict approval process from Marvel.
Marvel's quality department just went to shit if this is their standard. I'm seeing better skins from a mobile game than this AAA disaster.
Whatever happened to quality titles and games? The management handling this game is just as bad as those working on CD Projekt Red.
Hell, because of this game fans are wary about Guardians of the Galaxy.
Sigh, this is what happens when you have greedy corporations putting out garbage than putting out real quality effort. No wonder they are taking Marvel's image and shoving that in the mud.
I say let it tank. The MCU is an absolute mess and will continue to tank with the new policies in place. Most of the legacy stories have been retconned into modern nonsense, and it is very difficult to care or keep up with the current stories.
Maybe Disney will let it go if it continues to bomb for the next 10 years.
That's the saddest part though, there WAS something deep in there that felt good. But then they showed that they cared more about monetization rather than flushing out more of the good stuff. So it was incredibly shallow and repetitive. Especially for a successful GaaS title. At least for the majority. The single player campaign and co-op (when it works) is fantastic. Marvel and SQUARES need and desire for a GaaS does not take away from the fact that the core is actually fun. That is why people defended the game (because at the end of the day you don't have to buy cosmetics).
