If i get Tamerial Unlimited for PS4 and don't buy any further microtransactions/DLC, would i be able to enjoy this game as a single player experience?
Is there a demo or something? Not really sure if I like MMOs in general. But Morrowind? I'd love to see how they do that in an MMO and if it's just the are/setting without any of it's inherent context.
I guess singleplayers probably should go for the Skywind project?
There's a reason why they are calling the expansion Morrowind instead of Vvardenfell. Morrowind has been in this game since launch with the regions Bal Foyen, Stonefalls, and Deshaan. However most casual fans relate the name Morrowind to what they played back in The Elder Scrolls III. Let's be honest, when I think of Morrowind I don't think of Stonefalls, the first thing that pops into my head is TES III and Vvardenfell.
They are clearly pulling on the nostalgia strings and trying to get all the TES fans who currently don't play ESO to come check it out and hopefully stay and become subscribers. There's a reason why Seyda Neen looks practically identical even though it's 700 years in the past. Everyone is going to rush there first and proclaim "Wow, it's Morrowind Online!"
ZOS knows they can charge a premium for this expansion.
I love ESO, but my friend plays on PS4 and I have a hard time enjoying it on console...Couple that with the fact that I have no friends who play it on PC and I just don't get around to playing it like, ever.
But this expansion sounds rad as hell. I hope Dura gra-Bol is in this game so I can kill her and steal her house like I did back in the day.
I mean it's just pretty obvious marketing to name it Morrowind. But by the sounds of things the amount of content being included more than warrants the "expansion" tag and price. The community on the official forums are pissed that ESO+ ($15 subs) don't get this for free like the other DLC. Apparently they don't realize paid expansions is the norm for MMOs regardless if the game has a sub fee or not. ZOS are not dumb, though. This is what I said in a thread over there:
Alright I think I'm gonna take the plunge on this tonight! Gold version includes all the dlc currently correct?

So would it be better to get this on one of the consoles or pc? Not sure whats best population wise.

I mean, they're all fun but by "sword" do you mean just a single 1 handed weapon + shield? That's not really meant to be a generally "fun" weapon type, it's meant for tanking and defense, not raw DPS. 2-handed weapons and dual wielding are the more traditional melee weapons for DPS for stamina builds. What class and weapons are most "fun" in this game? I've tried it a few times and the sword gameplay seems a little dull. Maybe it's because I haven't gotten far enough into it, but I'd like recommendations.
This year will feature four major events:
Homestead, our player housing DLC, in February
ESO: Morrowind, our first Chapter release, in June
A dungeon-based DLC in the third quarter
A content-based DLC in the fourth quarter
After Morrowind
I've devoted a lot of space here to discuss our new content delivery strategy and how Morrowind will work. But we're doing a lot more than that we'll have our dungeon-based DLC in Q3 and a content-based DLC in Q4. As usual, we will be selling them a la carte in the Crown Store and they will be available to ESO Plus members. We will also delve deep into Cyrodiil performance issues and provide much needed relief. And each update will come with a base patch full of bug fixes, quality of life updates, and balance changes. We'll release much more information about all of these later in the year.
So I bought ESO Tamriel Unlimited on Steam to try and get into this game. Been a long time since I've MMO'd. I'm liking it so far, but what a pain in the dick getting it to work. My advice, get a cheap code from a grey market seller and redeem it via the ESO website. I got it to work on Steam, but it took over 3 hours.
This shouldn't be the case. me and all my friends bought it on steam and have never had issues. Was it not launching?
It attempts to launch the Bethesda launcher, loads 100% and disappears and nothing happens. This was the fix I found, which was posted only a couple days ago. If you google "Win10 Steam ESO" you can see how widespread the issue is. It's not an easy fix for people do discover on their own, either.
There's a thread about this on redditI'm having a nightmare of a time with this game so far. I spent several hours trying various suggested fixes to get the install .exe to work before finally going into my temp files to just grab the launcher manually. After the game installed, I found out that the redeem code from the Morrowind Full Digital Edition I got from their official website does not work, so I can't play what they already charged me for. I thought maybe I made a mistake and that preordering doesn't allow me to play the base game now, but I don't have the option of purchasing other versions from the website. I send in a support ticket, and got what looked like an automated response. It won't even let me register for the forums to seek help on the tech support area.
I saw and posted in that thread on reddit a little bit ago. There's a thread about this on reddit

Apparently preordering doesn't give you immediate access to the base game. (ZOS is treating it as if it was a preorder of the physical product). Not sure if it's an oversight or by design but it seems to be recommended to get the base game somewhere now and just preorder the upgrade edition, which should equal out to the same price and let you play immediately.
Forum access is granted, iirc, after you create an account and register the game to it, you get a forum invite in the confirmation email. I'll dig around the forum and see if I can find a ZOS representative responding to the preorder thing.
You can start in Vvardenfell as a new character.
Yeah can't stress to people how single player friendly this game is.
ESO is not a traditional MMO. Honestly it is pretty much a single player game with other people running around. Quests generally up to the quality level of your average Elder Scrolls quests.

Heads up for anyone looking to jump in on the console version. They have Morrowind on the PSN for $60 and it's advertised with the base game being included. I went ahead and purchased it, but now it won't let me download anything, including the base game, until June. I went ahead and made a support ticket with Sony since the advertisement and the preorder description is pretty vague and all I've been told is that my issue is being 'escalated'. Seems to be IMO predatory for newer players. It's essentially tricking people into buying the expansion (which is supposed to have the base game included) and when they find out they can't play right away they're essentially forced to either wait or spend another 30-60 to start.
Why even have the game on the PSN advertised with the base game if we cannot even play it. It seems pretty shady.
Orsinium is a must buy. Imperial City if you enjoy PVP. There is a pack on Crown Store with all the 4 DLCs for 5500 Crowns. Are any of the 4 current expansions worth buying for a newish player right now?
It's not shady, it's a dumb side effect of there being like 20 different SKUs of the game available since its initial launch.
When expansions for MMOs come out it's not uncommon for them to come with the base game included. The problem is that the expansion doesn't come out until June and preorders of it are being sold as a package with the base game. It's just not worded very clearly that if you want to play the game now you need to buy it by itself in one of the already existing packages and then preorder the "upgrade edition" of the Morrowind expansion.
Honestly I don't think they are trying to trick people into anything. They want people playing the game and happy. I dunno if PSN has a refund policy in place but if you can I'd try to cancel your preorder of it and buy Tamriel Unlimited or the Tamriel Unlimited Gold Edition now and then if you like the game think about preordering Morrowind's "Upgrade Edition"
Are any of the 4 current expansions worth buying for a newish player right now?
If you pre-order ESO: Morrowind, you will not get access to The Elder Scrolls Online until ESO: Morrowind releases on June 6, 2017. This is working as intended.
This is ridiculous, their customer service is abysmal. After another two days waiting on my ticket, I get this:
They ignored my request for a refund and there doesn't appear to be a way to cancel my preorder off the site. I cannot purchase the other versions of the game with the error code: you do not qualify for this product, which means that it's a huge oversight or their rep has no idea what they are talking about. I can't call them because their phone system is apparently down or non existent. It just continuously rings. I can't post on their forums because you have to have a registered copy of the game to log into them.
The official website. That is very fucking stupid. They shouldn't treat digital sales as a retail packages. Did you buy off steamm or their website?
Did they say how many crowns this will be?
I was fucking duped into buying the gold edition that came with some credits on psn a week before they put up the non credit bundle gold edition.
That means I'm sitting on 6000 credits which I have to imagine is enough.
The official website.
