Billions of dollars in lost sales? That's a good reason.I can't see any reason why Microsoft wouldn't make all games exclusive or at least for 6 months.
Haven't you heard? Microsoft doesn't want to sell consoles, doesn't want to make money, doesn't want to show in the financials sales figures.Billions of dollars in lost sales? That's a good reason.
I can't see any reason why Microsoft wouldn't make all games exclusive or at least for 6 months.
If that is the case xbox owners beta test Bethesda games for ps5 owners ;p
So you guys really think they will take a series like Skyrim, one of the best selling games of all time, and decide not to sell to half the market? Skyrim sold 20 million, you think they are going to cut their profit from a sequel in half? Why?
Do you guys think they don't make money off the IPs they own when they sell on PlayStation or Nintendo? Why?
If they’re leaving Bethesda’s games as multiplats. Why did they buy them? They were already multiplats. So you guys really think they will take a series like Skyrim, one of the best selling games of all time, and decide not to sell to half the market? You do realize that now they bought Bethesda they will make money off software sales?
How are not more people saying this? Do you guys think they don't make money off the IPs they own when they sell on PlayStation or Nintendo? Why?
I do see starfield on PS5 (via backwards compatibility), but not the next gen versions like xbox series s|x is getting and it will probably be timed exclusive on xbox. In regards to Elder scrolls, it will probably be more profitable to put it on xbox series consoles and PC because people will buy their console and game pass which will generate a lot more money in the long run. Microsoft wants Xbox game pass to succeed really badly, so it wouldn't make sense to put their games on playstationSo you guys really think they will take a series like Skyrim, one of the best selling games of all time, and decide not to sell to half the market? Should have bought more ms shares yesterday. Knew it was coming though.
Isn’t Starfield current gen only? Basically, if the game is already being made for playstation and long in development, it will still be on playstation. If it is still early in development, it won't be on playstation.

If they don’t announce a release date this week it’s not coming this year. I can see them unveiling when they announce their plans for the catalog the purchased. There’s barely even a screen grab available. Not confirmed
I'd wager it will be on last gen though. Especially if it's out this year
Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo are coming this year but not releasing on PS4. Also, they confirmed Starfield is next gen only. Not confirmed

Fallout 4 was revealed in June and released in November. Bethesda often reveals their games very close to release. If they don’t announce a release date this week it’s not coming this year. That's right. It's usually a couple of months window. There are extenuating circumstances this time though so we'll see.Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo are coming this year but not releasing on PS4. Also, they confirmed Starfield is next gen only.
Starfield won’t be “limited” by current-gen hardware
Starfield was announced at Bethesda’s E3 showcase earlier this week, accompanied by only the briefest of teasers and a logo. It’ll likely be a long while before we hear more, and even longer before we get to play it. It seems we should take the assertion that Starfield is “next-gen” seriouslwww.pcgamesn.com

Because this zenimax deal is a hired gun. All of these games can be purchased on multiple consoles and multiple generations. Games that reach a status of being synonymous with their consoles are true exclusives. And I do think they will end up being exclusives because they won’t be able to stand the backlash from people like you who would probably trade in their Xbox if they don’t do it. But let’s not compare homegrown talent that is developed and nurtured with people who have made their success elsewhere and are being brought in to add volume to the smallest amount of first party games in console history. That’s why MC is on the series x box and fallout boy won’t be.We keep seeing this stupid, tired, and irrational argument over and over.
Sony likes money too. Please explain why Spiderman, God of War, Uncharted etc aren't on Xbox, PC and Nintendo. That's a HUGE base of gamers that would add billions to to Sony revenue.
Why aren't Nintendo games on all platforms? I'm sure Nintendo likes money.
Microsoft is one of the 3 richest companies in the world and unlike Sony didn't need to sell their Redmond campus headquarters a few years ago just to stay afloat, why are they the only ones in such desperate need of of money they have to make games for their competitors?
By this logic Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Guerilla games, Polyphony, sucker punch games etc are all going to Xbox because Sony would be leaving money on the table. It‘s a ridiculous notion applied to either company.
Citation needed.Furthermore the purchase price was also based on a valuation of the going concern being multi-platform.
It’s very true. But ultimately they have to make these games exclusives. After the backlash they received at the price hike for gold you would see xbox trade ins and used eBay listings explode if they don’t. They have to fill out their catalog so they can raise the GP price and stop giving it away for $1The difference is that those are all single platform developers and Zenimax is a multi-platform publisher and developer. The skills and resources are already in place, so its an entirely different scenario. Furthermore the purchase price was also based on a valuation of the going concern being multi-platform.
If you can distinguish between the two you are dumber than a box of rocks.
Not anymore #DealWithitAll of these games can be purchased on multiple consoles and multiple generations.
Even if that was true - there are multiple ways of valuing a company - what would you expect? For Microsoft to offer half of Bethesda's value because they plan to be exclusive?Furthermore the purchase price was also based on a valuation of the going concern being multi-platform.
Won't really matter in 4-5 years. They'll be synonymous with Xbox and people will accept it.Because this zenimax deal is a hired gun. You’re right. You can only get Deathloop and Ghostwire on one console. when I’m wrong I’m wrongNot anymore #DealWithit
More like 2 generations. 4-5 years from now you’ll have 0 to 1 release of any of these games. It’s just like everything else though...waiting. Always waiting. That’s why they had to buy readymade instant catalog.Won't really matter in 4-5 years. They'll be synonymous with Xbox and people will accept it.
Define "next gen"? As a publisher so far, both their revealed titles are next gen only. They are committed to it.There's no confirmation that it's next gen only in that article
That's disingenuous. The deal was signed after those were made exclusive. Come on, you've tried this in another thread already. You’re right. You can only get Deathloop and Ghostwire on one console. when I’m wrong I’m wrong
You don’t think Insomniac’s purchase price was also based on them being everywhere?Furthermore the purchase price was also based on a valuation of the going concern being multi-platform.

Don’t sweat it. You’ll get your exclusives. I’ve already said I think they need to do it. You don’t spend 7.5 billion without a desperate necessity due to a dearth of first party output. That's disingenuous. The deal was signed after those were made exclusive. I doubt that Sony is concerned about leaving all that money on the table.

I actually have no idea whether all the non-MMO games will be exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem or not. I'm just hoping they are so we can all watch you and your SonyBros spin out of control if Xbox doesn't want to make games for your precious.
You said it.
You’re a deluded idiot romanticising one corporation acquiring another. Seriously, what a load of wishy washy bollocks. Get a real job.
Look at this anger. My goodness. This is another reason why they have to make these games exclusives. You’d all trade in you boxes and try to sell your 3 years of gold that you prepaid to get gamepass for a dollar. Shouldn’t you all be happier?I'm sweating it?
I see you whenever this topic comes up trying to sound like smartest guy in the room.
so if you take those 20 million people who played the previous game and say "here's a sequel but you have to play it here" if you get a quarter of those players from other systems to say "well I guess I have to buy an Xbox" then the picture is different and a smart business move.So you guys really think they will take a series like Skyrim, one of the best selling games of all time, and decide not to sell to half the market? Skyrim sold 20 million, you think they are going to cut their profit from a sequel in half? Why?

Why would Deathloop and Ghostwire be part of such a deal with Sony if they can't commit it to themselves or their partners? Why would Sony specifically want Bethesda to go next gen only? They defined it in your article
Next Gen systems on their part and the fact that it's coming to next-gen consoles
Howard even says they haven't decided yet, and in a different article he says that it doesn't mean it won't come to previous gen console.
Deathloop and Ghostwire could just be part of the Sony deal for all we know
