When did he lie?
sure, jim.
i'll believe it when i see it.
He doesn't say anything new in the interview. He said the same he always said before, and what they have been doing for years.
Game that can't be played in their direct competition, the other consoles, at least during a fair amount of time. Every year they released more exclusives than Nintendo and Microsoft, and they will continue doing it.
Most Sony studios are working on more games at the same time than before, they will continue having 2nd party exclusives and they will continue having 3rd party exclusives (both AAA and indies, both western and Japanese). It would be stupid to think they will stop doing it or that they will reduce the amount now that they have more money they ever had to invest on them. Just look at the number of exclusives released in the last year and the ones announced for the next year, and compare them to the ones from MS and Nintendo, or to he ones Sony released in the first year of PS4.
Sony has now more stuff, their exclusives are selling more than ever and are winning more GOTY awards than ever or what their direct competitors.
I would love to see them fund some RPGs that wouldn't have been made unless they paid for them.
They have FFVIIR ep 2, FF16, Project Athia, Persona, Yakuza, Dragon Quest, Tales and so on. They aren't short of RPGs.
I can see Konami. But Square and Capcom will never sell.
Konami is performing great, they won't sell either. And has many business Sony isn't interested on. But would be nice to buy them to recover all these classic IPs to put all these classic games on modern consoles and to revive some of their cool console IPs that now are basically dead.
I have a feeling theres an acquisition in planning now, its impossible for them to not do anything after Zenimax massive acquisition by Microsoft.
They are probably keep it in secret as their usual practice.
Yes, they are breaking many gaming industry records, don't need to do any massive acquisition. They will continue doing the same they always did, when time is right both for them and the dev, will buy some development studio who has a story of successful PS exclusives.
Maybe Bluepoint, Housemarque, Kojipro or Quantic Dream. Or who knows, even Kadokawa.
Do movies count as software? Or streaming apps for movies?
Yes, they count as software but he's talking about games because he's the boss of PlayStation and not the boss of Sony Pictures.
Well, I mean, what else is he going to say? "We're just gonna coast on the success of the PS4. Five or six big brands, that's all we really care about. If our studios aren't putting out those games, fuck 'em - they're making DLC for Naughty Dog."
No, of course not. He's gonna say "It's the biggest and best ever!". Remember when
Phil said E3 2019 was Microsoft's biggest E3 ever? Corporate gonna corporate.
The proof is in the pudding.
What you say is pure fud bullshit and lies.
In the recent months they released Astro, Sackboy, Demon's Souls, Destruction All Stars or Oddworld plus many cool console exclusive indies and in the few next months they will release Returnal, Ratchet, Days Gone for PC, Guilty Gear Strive, Kena, Ghostwire Tokyo and Deathloop plus many cool console exclusive indies. They have people at -minimum- Guerrilla, Bend, Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, London (plus very likely Pixel Opus and Media Molecule, and who knows if Insomniac and Sucker Punch too) and 2nd parties working on new IPs.
What he says is what they have been doing for years, and since they are breaking many gaming history records they will continue doing it.
Phil always says every E3 is going to be their best E3 ever, but what big exclusives are going to have the first year or this generation other than Halo? That is the difference.
