Ok zoomerPretty great stuff but nothing excites me about old games.
Ok zoomer
2020 hardware runs software better than 2010 hardware....wow
If one can't really tell a difference , does it matter? It's hell of an accomplishment regardless noting that this isn't native RDNA2 mode(nor for the cpu either). In fact its "compatibility"/"emulation" mode. I'll bet it would do max settings at an even better performance is it was native especially to take advantage of the XSX specific setup.Exactly, let's not kid ourselves that the console version of MH was running at max settings.
How does the PS5 handle old software? It would be nice if Sony gives us any info on anything hardware related.2020 hardware runs old software better than 2010 hardware....who would have thought
As to be expected, these games aren't going to be recompiled and rebuilt for the new generation.Reminder:

Oh my god this is glorious. Having skipped the xbox one generation, and having a collection of 360 and OG xbox games ; the value and quality proposition vs. the ps5 is hilariously large.
I cannot fucking wait for the series X man!

Score. And here I sit with a collection of PS1,2,3 and PSP games that are essentially abandon-ware.
You realize they are comparing it to X1X hardware that came out in 2017 right? And you also realize that the 2020 hardware is emulating 2017 hardware and not running it native. Comprehension fail.2020 hardware runs old software better than 2010 hardware....who would have thought
Oh, so, you didn't read the article? Well, that's ok, it is a lot of words, so it might have been intimidating. Here's the take aways:MuH TfLoPs
- can't hold stable framerates on Shekiro and Hitman
- 12 to 20 seconds for "quick resume"
The Series X just keeps on failing.
... I'm hugely impressed by the results. The boost to system performance compared to Xbox One X is clearly tremendous and I'm liking Microsoft's commitment to the Xbox library and putting so much resource into producing results like the ones I've detailed today ...
... The fact that Microsoft is talking about 4x resolution multipliers and double frame-rate upgrades says to me that the firm knows there's something special here ...
... Transformative is a word that often came up when I tested backwards compatibility on Series X - and this can extent to OG Xbox and Xbox 360 titles too ...
Now, don't be afraid to put your hand up and ask an adult for help on some of the longer words.... Monster Hunter World is a classic example of a stunning game that is let down by inconsistent performance. Again, the improvement from Series X is transformative, mostly doubling performance in the highest specification resolution mode - and after this, it's difficult to go back ...
Playing Mario 64 still and its great. Lots of old games are fun still. You don't even like PS3 games? Those games look ancient. Why would you want to play those?

I don't think a new PC with a RTX 3080 emulating a X1X would do as well emulating it. As we see the PC needs vastly superior hardware to emulate consoles very well. Right now PCs emulate xbox 360 and PS3 okay and not Xbox 1 and PS4 gen. Commentary failure.

You use the word emulation but you obviously don't understand what it means....You realize they are comparing it to X1X hardware that came out in 2017 right? And you also realize that the 2020 hardware is emulating 2017 hardware and not running it native. Comprehension fail.

You are kidding right? They have stated they run it in a Virtual Machine. On MULTIPLE MULTIPLE occasions they stated Xbox BC is software emulation.I don't think there is any real emulation, maybe just compatibility mode on the HW.
Oh really? How so? All Xbox emulation is done via a virtual machine on the Xbox OS form of Hyper V.You use the word emulation but you obviously don't understand what it means....
30fps looks more cinematic more like a film ,idk if i prefer it over 60fps tbh looking at monster hunter comparison its more enjoyable watching it at 30fps
LOL That ending HAHAHAHA OMG. LOLDo you need patches on Steam when you upgrade your rig?
Given how the modern game development has gone largely multiplat and highly streamlined, performance boost flops by flops without any patch should be guaranteed.
I just feel Xbox's target sets too high and too ambitious at 4k 60fps with a dated hardware comparing what Nvidia is offering now, should have gone 1440p 60fps like the PS5 does with Demon Souls.
HOLD IT RIGHT THERE the PC is not a Ron Paul FFS, its definitely more of a Bernie.
It's a marvel because Microsoft is the only one doing it. Sony isn't going to do this level of compatibility, and Nintendo isn't even trying.
It's not the same as upgrading your PC though, because PC games aren't being emulated. They're running directly on the new hardware, whereas these are generations old games running on software emulators for completely different architectures than they were made for.If the frame rate is unlocked I’m not sure why anyone is overly excited and/or impressed. It’s a 12 teraflop GPU. It’s a monster. It’s no different than upgrading your PC and now your old games run better.
It would be bigger news if these titles were not substantially improved.
That's literally the same type of backwards compatibility that Sony did with the PS4 Pro, unlocked framerate games ran better on it, just like here.
I honestly don't see what is shocking or marvelous about it, it's an expected feature from backwards compatibility.
No Bernie doesn't believe in freedoms, quite the opposite actually...I think you are confusing fascist socialists with libertarians?HOLD IT RIGHT THERE the PC is not a Ron Paul FFS, its definitely more of a Bernie.
"Games should be free or cheap and available to all"
"Free development Tools for everyone"
"Backward Compatability is a right!"
"If I want to run Linux on your system it's your right!"
So did the PS2 run PS1 games at double the framerate and higher resolutions? Did the PS3 run PS1 and PS2 games at higher framerates and resolutions and add HDR?
That's not backwards compatibility though. The PS4 Pro is a PS4. The Series X is not a Xbox One.The PS4 Pro ran PS4 games with unlocked framerates better, the same thing will happen with the PS5, it's an expected feature unless Sony decides to lock out a mode similar to the PS4 Pro's boost mode for some reason.
Btw, I know you are console warring but one thing that was interesting about the PS2 is that it ran PSOne games with texture filtering and faster loading times.
Let us know what you find out?Not a single game tested can go above 60fps. -_-' Why not test R6 Siege?
That's not backwards compatibility though. The PS4 Pro is a PS4. The Series X is not a Xbox One.
I'm not console warring at all. I'm stating facts. You're trying to downplay the Series X and talk up the PS4/5. You're console warring.I know you are console warring, but you are arguing semantics. The PS4 Pro had a more powerful GPU and had to code and compile specific versions for it. The games that didn't have this ran in a compatibility PS4 mode with the extra CUs disabled and then later on with them enabled in a boost mode. Game code did not need to be modified and recompiled. This is the same thing.
30fps looks more cinematic more like a film ,idk if i prefer it over 60fps tbh looking at monster hunter comparison its more enjoyable watching it at 30fps

The PS4 Pro does not run games in backwards compatibility. It's playing PS4 games natively. That is literally nothing like what the Series X is doing here with Xbox/360/One games.
You just saying I'm console warring doesn't make it so lol. Just like you saying I'm ignorant of the technical details doesn't make it so.Just because you are ignorant of what the technical details entail doesn't mean I'm console warring. What the PS4 Pro did with PS4 games is essentially what Xbox Series X here is doing.
Do you want to discuss like an adult or do you prefer to keep on console warring like a child?
Those are probably the same if they are capped to 60/30. The difference between a XB1X an XSX would be meaningless there.Any news on the original Xbox games?
*Self-hi-five*
You just saying I'm console warring doesn't make it so lol. Just like you saying I'm ignorant of the technical details doesn't make it so.
The PS4 Pro does not do anything at all like what the Series X is doing lol. The PS4 Pro literally has the same CPU as the PS4. They even did the GPU so it's essentially the same as the PS4. It's not backwards compatibility. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about and are just trying to fangirl for Sony.
Aaaaaaand ignored. See ya fanboy.Sigh...ok, if you prefer to be talked down to like a child, then the customer is king.
Yes wittle Timmy, the Series X Is super powerful, you are going to love it. Want an ice cream after your swimming lessons? Now remember to tell your teacher if you need to poopoo, I don't want to have to come pick you up again from school to change you.
