First time I've used my DS in years admittedly.
I just don't think a community thread will be all that hot for discussion. What's fueling discussion is the new game. Trying to make inferences based on footage about the content of the new game and how it fits in with other games is totally on topic. Timeline discussion only comes up when considering how the new game will reference previous games and when people that deny the timeline start stomping their feet (I can respect not wanting to pay attention to story. I disagree with it but people can do what the want. Denying that the timeline even exists is crazy, though). I'm not against a community thread, I just fear that anti-story/anti-timeline people would see such a thread as sanction to be more vocal about how much they hate story/timeline and hamper discussion in other threads pertaining to new games.EatChildren said:HEY TURDS
Guess what? You're getting a Zelda community thread. Yep, that's right. A swank, flashy Zelda community thread where you can talk shop to your heart's container...err, content.
The goal of the community thread is to give you cats a place to discuss the timeline, series, the hottest princess (bangs Zelda owns) and all other general Zelda franchise topics that seem to pop up in every Zelda thread. The franchise is so big now with so many GAF fans that we figure it's time to make a home.
However, being a community thread means it must act like a community thread. New threads for new news policy still stands, so when screenshots, videos and announcements start pouring out from Nintendo we expect these to be given appropriate new threads in the Gaming forum. The community thread must not become a megathread, essentially.
So, there's that. As with all community threads we expect you guys/gals will be keen to make up some flashy art, a nice sexy op, and what have you, so maybe start talking amongst yourselfs and designate someone to make the first thread. Collaborate, do what you do.
The thread will be good to go as soon as you've all got a thread to go, so just let me know when it's ready and we'll get the ball rolling.
One of my colleagues has booked the review copy. But I'm okay with that, as I have my CE version pre-ordered. I'm waiting along with the lot of ya .
I don't quite understand what you mean here.RagnarokX said:I'm not against a community thread, I just fear that anti-story/anti-timeline people would see such a thread as sanction to be more vocal about how much they hate story/timeline and hamper discussion in other threads pertaining to new games.

I see what you're saying but it's not like there's usually a long gap(a couple months to a year at most) between anounced Zelda titles. There were 3 games this year that will likely keep things flowing active. There's also tons of different Zelda related threads each year such as LttP Zelda games threads, Lets Play threads, random Zelda musings threads, etc. There are plenty of ways to keep the community thread active. Perhaps discussing for a week everyones favorite items, song, bosses, races, characters, games, etc after SS.RagnarokX said:I just don't think a community thread will be all that hot for discussion. I'm saying I don't think those people will post in the community thread, but will still post in threads for new games, and I can see scenarios where timeline discussion comes up in a new thread for a new game and timeline haters moan about moving it to the community forum. It might be an unwarranted concern, but jett's comment above doesn't bode well. I just wanted to put it forth.Nirolak said:I don't quite understand what you mean here.
If people are anti-story/anti-timeline in the Community thread, how would this hamper the other threads?
Kind of an anticlimactic video to save for last :/BY2K said:Game Informer Exclusive Video #5: Lizalfos.

Looks about as easy as Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker, they didn't attack at all and just two? I remember this battle from OOT... there's a lot to love about Zelda Skyward Sword but I sure hope it gets more spectacular later on.BY2K said:Game Informer Exclusive Video #5: Lizalfos.

That's a result of the lock-on system. It's designed to work like that.udivision said:Good thing they didn't both attack you at the same time

This should be in the OP for the community thread.Lord_Byron28 said:As for the anti-timeline people, who cares. Perhaps the mods could enforce a rule that simply states that there is a Zelda timeline that has been stated and clarified multiple times and is outright stated in plenty Zelda games and threaten bans to people who go on anti-timeline rants because it hinders the discussion topic.

I think the sound effects have been greatly improved as well. Even before the music kicks in the atmosphere was still there.BY2K said:Game Informer Exclusive Video #5: Lizalfos.

Fair enough. Which is why I said "might", because it's more related to incredulity than other similar words.BocoDragon said:Myth =/= not real

calling it mythology might be a fallacy as the games have shown divine beings have a literal basis in Zelda
.....
but yeah, back to this thread.
