I hate that remake with a passion, because of the QTEs, the shit depth of field and bloom effects.
I loved the Anniversay remake. They took some pretty weak/boring levels, trimmed the fat, and made them great (Cistern, I am looking at you specifically).

It was a great attempt at modernising the game but still keeping it true to its roots.

It would still be great today if it weren’t for the 30fps.

Anyway, these remastered 1-3 games look fantastic. Improve the textures and models, ensure 60fps, and keep everything else as is - simple and a day one buy from me.

I loved the originals and completed all 3 more than once at the time, i never completed the 4th one though, but i'm really interested to see what there will be like on release, great games in the 90's, must buys back then.

I have to admit, playing these back in the day was really something else, truly revolutionary games and from my rather hazy memory of them (used to play em stoned af) they took an absolute age to complete, with lots of trial and error dying and running back and forth through massive labyrinthian levels, no hand holding back then... would have nowhere near the time nor the patience to play em again nowadays with my backlog

Really want to get this on ps5 and also switch, in that order, but shits fucked for me lately financially, among other issues I would rather not list. We need to send a message that this is the style of tomb raider that we want.
Only way to send a message is millions will need to preorder/buy the game. Maybe that will reinvigorate the franchise and return it to form.

Wouldn't mind a remaster of Deathtrap Dungeon while we are at it.

Thanks for the reply! Damn!
Although limited run may do something or a physical release later if it does well but I really don't think they have the budget due to their current predicament.

You sure? You can pre order it on play-asia.
Asian release?
They have it up for all platforms and regions.
With a price of double of what it's going for on PSN.
I think it's just a place holder and will probably be removed when they realise

The only Tomb Raider game I looking foward.
I just attempted to get into Shadow of the Tomb Raider again since I have it on PS+. It's so fucking bad. I gave it an hour and a half and all it managed was endless slow walking, "push up for awesome" cinematic sequences and lame spectacle. The idiotic "sad strings" Last Of Us score is the icing on the cake. Game is such AAA nonsense.

Play Underworld instead.

Really hoping TR 1-3 will revive the franchise since the reboot is just an empty husk of what TR used to be.

I wonder why they didnt include the 4th game as it was the first 4 games that were the orig PS1 graphics right?,. it was the 5th game that moved to PS2.

I imagine if this does well maybe they plan on TR 4-6 Collection. The goal might be to success coast on the original series to see how to move forward with the franchise. Since despite the "success" of the Reboot series as a whole the IP is stagnating.

The first FIVE games were on ps1. TR4 was quite different from the first 3; its levels were more interconnected and the UI was totally different. So I can understand why it wasn’t included.

This is being done by Aspyr. Have a look at their track record.....

At least I’m not the only thinking the latest trilogy is completely unplayable. Can’t stand them.

Lack of physical release sucks, but if that play-asia version offers English language I might just buy it. I've done that recently with Like a Dragon Gaiden to have a complete collection.

It's like a corporate boardroom became sentient and them had AI create "modern AAA experience game".

It fucking literally does EVERYthing obnoxious and, to me, wrong with this cinematic game template within 30 minutes and never stops. The most insulting part of this is that it constantly shows you "cool and exciting" but rhe gameplay feels completely flaccid and devoid of excitement. You have to actively try to fail at jumps and traversal, that's how magnetic everything is.

It's a fucking shame because the game looks fantastic, I like the art direction and still love the udea of Tomb Raider. Sadly this is a sad 3rd rate Naughty Dog ripoff and even fails at that. At least ND games have great gameplay at this point, even when their pacing is bogged down but annoying cinematic shit.

I actively hate this reboot series and Shadow just has a real air of pathetic day-late-and-a-dollar-short corporate checklist design.

PS: I can't type and too lazy to correct all the typos

Never played a Tomb Raider until the reboot trilogy. Loved the 2013 reboot. Rise was god-tier, an amazing sequel. Shadow was a bit of a mess.

Will classic Tomb Raider hold up in just a graphical remaster? That’s my concern. I remember trying to play 3D games on my friend’s PSone back in the day. And at that time the controller didn’t even have analog sticks yet.

I really liked TR2013 but Rise not so much and Shadow was just terrible. Lara was insufferable
I thought Shadow was a better game but it was the same Lara from Rise soooo
Would be interesting to see what Eidos-Montréal would have done if they did a reboot
On a side note, have you booted up TR2013 recently, I'm referring to the definitive edition.
There's a lot stuff they was doing in that game that's not present in the newer games, especially particle effects

Yeah, I tried it on the Deck OLED. Game still has its charm, dat TressFX lol.

Really? I thought Rise was just bigger and better in every way, and some of the levels inparticular were just magnificent. Like the quintessential sequel.

Nah, I didnt like the world as much. Backtracking felt broken from what I can remember. Sure, the tombs were better but still felt disjointed from the main game.

Reboot Trilogy lacks atmospheric element. Sometimes less is more. Plus Reboot Lara seemed more focused on the story driven narrative(while passable in 2013 I found the stories presented in Rise/Shadow lackluster) then the exploration and discovering secrets that the original series was known for.

The best part of Rise was exploring Tombs in postgame when the game wasn't forcing you to buy tools/upgrades or continue the narrative.

In the original games Lara Croft is a self made explorer and Archaeologist.

I dunno about you but I find it hard to go back to Reboot trilogy when I know this is what I'll be getting in February.

Rise def the better game. It actually had a decent story too. Very well paved. Combat felt a bit better than Shadow too

Ok, I saw the title and I thought this was the nu-Tomb Raider trilogy as what is associated with "remasters". But these are the actual classic games!

Man, I'm gonna have to take my switch back from my brother again for this!!

EDIT: LOL I saw the title!! If it's on PC I want to know how they'll support ultrawide screen?

Have they aged well? I don't think so, right?
